Why do fanfic authors do this???

Example:

"Omo! Kwenchana? You look hurt."

"Anniyo. You should probably get seonsaeng-nim."

I don't read a lot of fanfics so I'm confused. Is this normal or just Koreaboo-ness?

Edit: I originally thought it was just Koreaboo-ness. But then I came across so many that were written like that I started thinking it was a normal thing smh. Thanks for setting me straight guys.

Not every fanfic author does this, thankfully. But it's so annoying when they do. I don't mind using honorifics like -hyung, -oppa, etc because those don't really translate well (well, they translate but it sounds really awkward) and it helps to show the relationship between characters but the rest of it is just people throwing in random Korean words they've picked up because they think it sounds cool. Unless your character is actually switching between languages in their dialogue just stick with one language. It's not that hard.

I'm a published full-time author, and yeah that looks bad. At some point I'm going to write a gritty k-pop novel (about a fictional girl group of course), but I'll keep the slang and honorifics to a minimum. Just gotta break away from my romance stuff first, but the house wives keep buying it.

Tips to fan-fiction authors. Buy a few writing books, also don't write in second person (you, you, you) and avoid present tense! Both are really easy to mess up. Stick to first person, or third-person limited if you want to really get inside of your character's head. Speaking of heads -- don't hop between them. Stick with one POV per scene/chapter.

Koreaboos. They'll get over this stage.

The problem is when people keep doing after 4+ years of being into kpop.

I know somebody that does this in actual conversations and it's super annoying.

She did this when she was really into anime, too. Suddenly everything was super kawaii.

Now she just mixes both weabooness with koreabooness.

What does that mean anyways ?

ah someone alredy translated it heh

tbh when I read Japanese-setting fanfics, I get irked when the authors dont use honourifcs like -kun, -san, chan etc.

That's a huge part of japanese culture and it shows us how the relationships between the characters are.
