I don't see why some complain of the sexy concept, since it's new thing for GsD. 2 years cute, 2 years sexy, then they can try smt else. I am pretty sure their next cm will be smt different.

The problem I'm seeing is that people don't want cute or sexy. And I'm having a hard time figuring out how a group can be neither, because from what I've seen, every concept has elements of cuteness or sexiness in it by default. So when I see people say "ugh, another sexy concept?" it just boggles my mind. Like, what do you expect them to do? they tell me something like BoA or Ailee (apparently they show talent and not sexiness), but I'm like what, they do sexy concepts also. So I don't know, seems everyone's opinions are so scattered apart.

Haha, okay.  I was talking in general about different concepts and not actually picturing Girl's Day trying to do some of them.  But now that I think about it, I want to see it!

Hip Hop Gangsta Girl's Day would be awesome!  (awesomely funny)

Hmmm.......A concept that isn't cute or sexy at all?  I think you can find it in music, but ya, not from idol groups.  Most of them are too beautiful, so no matter what they do, it'll be cute or sexy.

But I think the main issue is with the more extreme levels of sexy or showing too much skin.  When groups try to push boundaries, some people are going to object.

Maybe they want more variety?  Sexy is fine, but have an interesting concept to go along with it.

You could also make it a general argument. I mean, each group has it's own style and personality right? I don't know about you but I'm not sure i can see GsD doing 4minute concepts, or 2ne1 concepts, and visa versa. I can use Secret as another example, you're not gonna see them doing hip hop concepts either, because it just doesn't suit them. Of course you never know until you see it, but you get my point.

Groups like GsD, DS, Secret, will always be cute no matter how sexy they try to be. Of course they can do a sexy concept and be very good at it, as they've shown us. And they've proven they can be cute plenty of times. But that's just their thing, sexiness/cuteness, it's natural for them. Doing 4minute/2ne1 style conepts, aren't. Sure it would be different and interesting, but it wouldn't feel like GsD/Secret. Which is probably why their companies don't have them do that kind of stuff.

They have to be either extremely cute or extremely sexy. So I don't get how people want them to not be sexy, when the so called none sexy concepts like, hip hop, gangster, techno, country, folk, ect, may not be suited for them. Just like how you won't see 4minute do Hello Venus style song, it's just not them. They were meant to do the funky hip hop thing they do.

I like sexy Girl's Day but I don't want them abandoning cute concepts forever. It doesn't have to be overly cute like Twinklex2, but something like Tell Me, it's one of my favorite songs from last year. The other day I was talking with another fan and we agreed that they should do all the time a mature song with a cute follow-up song like FP + Tell Me, it would make me very happy lol

Sojin likes to do mature concepts and I'm sure other members feel that way too.

Pretty good idea actually, doesn't hurt to mix it up a little and give fans both styles. I'm sure the girls like doing cute concepts because it's fun, and they like sexy concepts to feel more mature. It's variety for both fans and the group. I think the songs they've been doing so far are just fine. But like I've been saying, I'm not sure I'd want they changing conepts to much that they start do hip hop/rap/gangsta, concepts. Whether it's cute or sexy, they've been sticking to things that suits them, which is perfect already.

Having elements of sexy/cute doesn't make it a sexy/cute concept, it's different. Since you mentioned t-ara before and I am their fan, I think their disco songs were just fun disco, I don't see them as cute. You can't say that Apink 'No no no' and T-ara' 'Roly Poly' sound and look the same, right? Last year t-ara mixed disco and country and was pretty good. Even in the gander there are difference. Fierce sexy, upbeat sexy, dance sexy, slow and seductive. Looks to me that some fans are tired of the last type. Sister used it a lot, AS last song and now GsD use it too and other groups that I can't think of right now.

In terms of T-ara I consider Number 9 and Do You Know Me, as sexy. I know one is a dance track and the other is a hybrid retro/dance track. But it was sexy to me. Different kinds of sexy, but still sexy. I guess I have a certain way of looking at the girls, and their outfits, and define what is sexy in my own way. But yeah, that was all sexiness to me. Apinks NoNoNo, is cute to me, and Roly Poly, was pretty sexy. I think what I mean by sexy by default is just that certain idols are simply just sexy no matter what, so I see the whole concept as sexy because of that.

Yes, each group has it's own style....but I don't know if that's because of the girls or if it's just marketing.

I think a lot of idols can be moved to another group and there won't be any problems adjusting to the new concepts.  It seems weird to us now because we're so used to thinking of them as groups.  But think about the groups that almost debuted....like Hyolyn, Jieun, Uji.  Or Hyosung, Uee, Jiwon, Gna, Yubin.  I'm sure there were more, but I'm forgetting.

The girls in groups that do tough/hiphop concepts...do you think they somehow have more 'street cred' than most idols?  Definitely, NO.

I remember 4minute having modest, cute, even quiet personalities.  And 2ne1's real personalities are totally different from their image.  With practice, GsD could probably do their concepts.  (Did you see Minah rapping to 2ne1's I am the best, lol?)  But hmmm...GsD is a LOT prettier (haha).  That could make it harder to do some concepts.

I totally get what you mean, I'm sure under different circumstances these idols could have done any concept with proper practice. However they have already debut in their respective groups with certain styles. And it's those styles that have developed their current image, which makes it hard to see them doing anything outside of the norm for them.

Could GsD do a fierce hip hop concept like 2ne1? probably. I can't say it's impossible. But since their debut they've been doing only cute songs, then a little less cute, and then now sexy. Yet they've still retained their cute bubble style and personalities. So it's hard to see them do anything other than what we already know from them.

Is there any reason to do something like a hip hop concept? We already have hip hop based kpop groups. We already have trot, country, techno, based groups doing their thing. So I don't see why GsD would have to do those things. They already have their own style whether it's cute or sexy, and I think they should continent to roll with it.

So when people dislike GsD's sexy concepts, I want to know what they expect them to do if it isn't sexy. The cute thing is a given already. But none of the styles mentioned really suit the image GsD has developed over the years. I not saying they can't do it, but it's just wouldn't be GsD. I think they've done well with the cute/sexy combination.

Welcome all new comers!

That is the reason why girls day perhaps releasing album ahead of them. They got chance to win
For example, look at IU, she released modern times ahead of shinee's everybody and able to secure win on every music shows for one week because she released her album ahead of them.
Tvxq power based on their fandom while ailee by general public support

Keep in mind that IU is a lot more popular than GsD, so it's easier for her get wins..

What other criteria there are than Youtube views to compete in the music shows? What does the fanbase basically mean in case of competing, the fans vote in some poll or what?

SMS fan voting, online fan voting, online international fan voting, digital sales, physical sales, live performance votes, ect.

It is not impossible for gsd to pull the same

Anything is possible, but IU has been popular for a longer time, which gives her more advantage.

Oh god, 10 pages to backtrack!  :omg:

I couldn't do it, I stopped after like 3 pages, lol, too much.

So have they won again since the first one?

Lol wth I don't understand why they're not nominated..are Ailee and TVXQ?

How was Rain even nominated? I thought 30Sexy and La Song were doing really poorly, I thought he wasn't even competition.

Each show has a different criteriea/way of nominating/ranking, the groups. So just because they won/got nominated, for one show it doesn't necessary mean they will be nominated for every show. It depends. Unless they are killing the competition with sales and charts, like most big groups do, they probably won't get nominated every time. But for the most part, all the shows mainly use digial/physical sales numbers to determine the winning. So most likely, GsD sold really well the first few days, hence the first win. But if the sales don't hold up as strong, they may no get more wins/nominations. So hopefully their sales do good and stay steady.
