Expectation MV teaser - 157,349 views
Female President MV teaser - 394,866 views
Something MV teaser - 403,161 views

The teaser already has more views than the teasers from the two previous songs.
And there's still some time before the MV release, so the number of views will be higher! It means even more interest this time.

Yep, they get more attention and popularity with each comeback.

do you know when exactly the song/mv is coming out?

i just know it said january 3rd >.<

3rd, noon, Korean time.

OK, I finally watched it.

First of all, great job Girls Day and Duble Sidekick. Everything about the song and MV just has quality about it. The song (IMO) is better than Female President, and not quit as good, but on a similar level as Expectation. It was sexy and mature, and it had a nice darkness about it. I like the color schemes with all the red/blue neon light (just seems so Asian to me, reminds me of Tokyo), and it looked amazing with the wet setting.

As for line distribution, I'm not sure I heard enough (or at all in the first watch) of Hyeri and Yura. It seem like it was all Sojin and Minah, but I'll have to watch it again to make sure. The vocals were nice though, very soft, very sexy. It really set the mood for the whole MV experience.

What can I say about the girls? they are all simply gorgeous, nuff said.

I didn't watch the stream, hopefully the videos show up on YT.

It was great to watch them performing Something and Show U, these must be the songs they will perform on Music Bank too.
But I was expecting a little bit more from the showcase... If you compare with the FP showcase, this one was more simple.

nah it was just playing the background.

that was a disappointing showcase :/ they performed two? songs so I dunno what this was showcasing haha. that Girl's Day looks amazing in white dresses I guess  :raep:

Well, sometimes keeping it short and simple is the best way. I mean they did a proper showcase for FP already, and that was for a full album. This time the comeback isn't as big, so it's more striped down, which is fine since they don't have as much to showcase. I imagine it was mainly just to do the promo song, and just get in a quick Q&A session. Having 2 big showcases back to back is probably it bit much.

I watched the whole showcase, basically they performed Something, had about 15 mins Q&A and performed Show U. They also played Whistle in the end with some teaser pictures of something.

For the title song, wow..it's more than I expected. Minah seems to be one of the main voices in the song --> Showcasing her for future solo-album maybe?

The song is really hard to perform live. I hope the girls can pull it off  :)

Isn't she always? lol, she's there main/lead vocalist along with Sojin. So that should be expected.

I think this will be there biggest hit since "Expectation". It shows a new side/style of GsD, it's not just sexy, it's more than that. And with the help of a well known producers I think "Something" will get the attention of a lot of people. There is a certain level of classiness to it, and I know people will disagree, but that's what I see. The girls are wearing sexy clothing, but I don't see it in a overlay sexual way.

Right now, I'm just hoping for solid sales numbers and maybe a nomination on a show.

I guess it depends on how well the song charts tomorrow morning at peak hours, but I'm keeping my expectations at a realistic level.

I think GsD's best chance will be in the 2nd week, maybe 3rd week. After that, once all the sales numbers add up with those other groups it's gonna make it really competitive for the girls. But let's just see the charts after 24 hours.

Lol, and of course the Sistar comparisons are happening already on youtube. Seriously, can't this stuff be avoided for once? People are saying it is a copy of Alone/GNAAL, now. I mean come on, we're long past that phase in Kpop in terms of talking about Alone/GNAAL, copies. How is it that anything any other girl group does has to be compared with Sistar? Is it because they worked with Duble Sidekick? People just need to take the song for what it is, "Something" by Girls Day, and nothing else, haha.

On the other hand, if this turns out to be their recipe of succes, I don't mind it.

So much skin!!  :ahmagah:

Tbh I don't like when they promote at the same time... but that happens a lot...

The only good thing about it is that we can see more interactions between the groups

Why not? I love it when my favs promote together. It just gives me more perfs to enjoy.

Hi!

I'm happy another STAR1 is being supportive.  I was sad to see some STAR1 complaining about Girl's Day.  I really feel like STAR1 should be more supportive and understanding of groups like Girl's Day.  Both are from small agencies and face a lot of difficulties in an industry dominated by powerful agencies like SM/YG/etc.

Star1s are seriously going all out and in full throttle with fighting back. But I can't say it was not to be expected. They've been bullied since their GITM promotions started. I guess they're finally releasing their frustrations after having concluded with successful promotions. Sones and blackjacks don't seem to be approaching them anymore seeing how vocal they've become. Star1s were bullied and now they're the bullies to GsD. Smh

^^ There will always be a mad fandom, I can honestly say for me the song doesn't sound anything like a Sistar song, not every song that's kind of sexy and using falsetto is a Sistar song. The outfits aren't even that similar, they're wearing a two piece with an almost floor length skirt, not a dress.

I'm hoping no one.. I don't want Daisies to get the same reputation of flaming other groups as some other fandoms have done, and I'm not even talking about star1 now :/

Edit: LOL seems like shit is going down on another thread..people are fighting each other even though they're not fans of neither of the groups (sistar and gsd). For me it seems like some people intentionally want to start a fight between star1 and daisies..so stupid..and useless.

Wow, I come online and fine out about all this? Last time I was here there was just a little YT bashing. And now it has poured over to the OH forum. How sad. I don't really know what to say about it anymore, you guys already went over it in pretty good detail. It's too bad this kind of behavior has to happen. I don't get why people are so naive/ignorant.

It's like people have know clue that all these kpop groups share the same producers, MV directors, ect. Obviously there will be similarities in kpop, and it's not the fault of the group itself. It's more of a coincidences, because the styles of the producer/director comes out through the image of the group, if you know what I mean. So it's silly for fans to think that a group is copying another group. Nobody is copying anybody. It's just all coincidence that it's similar. Just because a certain groups has made a name for themselves with a certain concept doesn't mean they started it or created it. Anybody can do any concept they want and modify it, no problem. It doesn't mean ONLY the group that did it earlier is allowed to do it. People expect too much creativity sometimes, they think every group has to bring something new to the table. But think about how hard it is to create a new concepts, it's not easy at all. And kpop is all about following trends, if fans like it, if it's working, no reason to change. But unfortunately some people are too blind to understand that.

But of course there are also plenty of trolls out there, who love seeing people fight with each other, they're just pathetic fools. Best not to feed the trolls, let them starve.

THE MV HAS REACHED 1 MILLIONS VIEWS ALREADY!!!

Loen+GsD channel

Some of the set designs in the MV give off a retro feel like the neon lights. It looks like Minah has a film camera (where you had to move the lever before taking a photo) and Hyeri has a cassette tape in the bathtub.

If I were to use one word to describe the song and MV, I would use the word "sultry"

I agree with this, I like the lighting in the MV, especially the neon lights. There is something dark and mysterious about it, and it just has this Asian feel to it, like being in China town, or in a back alley of Tokyo. Almost like you have to walk threw a dangerous red light district to get to a brothel. Tho I don't mean that in a bad way, I'm not implying they are brother girls. Just saying the bright neon lights kinda gives me that feel. I like it because it reminds of old Japanese yakuza noir films.

My thoughts to these netizens.

1. [+870, -107] Always the same damn sexy, sexy, sexy concept. Can't we get anything else?

Anything else? like what? a cute concept? the thing they've been doing for years already?

I don't understand these people that complain about too many sexy concepts. Like what else is there to do? it's either cute or sexy, people need to understand that. And if they did do anything else, people would complain anyways.   -_-

3. [+629, -56] The song is good but I think the focus will be on their skin exposure again.

5. [+460, -66] They're pretty. Girl's Day would do better without so much skin exposure.

It's 2014, not 1950, deal with it. Showing skins is part of the entertainment industry. Covering them up would make them look like nuns, and would take all the "umph" out of it. Time to be less Conservative netizens.

Umm...

There are lots of concepts that don't fall under the cute or sexy category.  For example:

  • The blind stylist with no taste concept (really popular in 2013)
  • Hip hop
  • Country inspired
  • Swing/retro/disco inspired (IU, Sunny Hill)
  • Lady Gaga knockoff
  • Gangsta poser
  • Gimmick
  • Girl Band
  • Folksy

All of these can be found in kpop and many were really successful.  Even from Girl's Day, they had past concepts that weren't cute or sexy, like their debut concept.  Or they had a more restrained level of sexy that knetizens wouldn't complain about (like Don't Forget Me).

DreamT knew exactly what they were doing when they made the teasers.  They knew that some knetizens would hate on it.  The point was to create hype and it definitely did that.

In any case, it doesn't really matter.  There are always complainers.  As long as there are more people who are happy about it, it's a win.  And right now, it's looking like a win for Girl's Day.

Yeah but neither of those concepts really fit GsD. Them doing a country song? hip hop? GANGSTER? lol

I can't see it happening. And even if they did, don't you think it would either be cute or sexy anyways? I mean take retro disco for example, T-ara and Nine Muses do those things. But the concepts are pretty much always sexy. Yet we come to expect it to be sexy so we don't think about it, we just say "hey, it's a disco song". And that also goes for hip hop and whatever. My point is, no matter what concept is done, there is still a sub concept, which is either cute or sexy.

Trot groups do the folk style music, but even then, you have sexy versions and cute versions. So at the end of the day, like I said, you're either cute or sexy. It just depends HOW cute you are, or HOW sexy you are. To me Sunny Hills last song (darling of hearts) i would consider cute. And IU's song (summer time) semi sexy-ish, and semi cute. So what I'm saying is you can't really get away from it, it will always be there. It's really hard to find an in between that isn't one or the other. Perhaps 4minute's (WYN)? but that's not GsD style anyways. Get what I mean?

Even if they tried really hard to avoid being either cute or sexy. It doesn't mean that concept would fit the group. Like I just can't see GsD doing hip hop, gangster, folk, country. Disco, maybe.
