GsD is similar to Sistar, in that they are athletic looking, not too thin, but have the right thickness.

I don't want them getting any thinner or thicker, tbh...I want them just they way they are right now.

A thin group would be Nine Muses for example, and GsD is far from that.

I would even say DS is a bit on the chubby side, except GaEun.

But for me they are all perfect, neither is too thin or too thick.

My point is, they all look healthy.

Have you seen Boram for T-ara? she is not looking good these days, she is way too thin.

You have look at it in the eastern point of view tho.

Where girls like Sistar and GsD would be considered semi fat.

And that look is not desired, the NM look is how Asian generally want to look like.

Part of the reason international fans like Sistar is because of their thick bodies.

From western view, you may think Yura is thin while in the east they think the opposite.

I've always notice comments on youtube where people complain idols are too thin and should eat more.

But they don't realize, the idols do that on purpose, they want be thin, that is their beauty standard.

Of course everybody wants to eat, that's natural.

But the companies have their standard on how the girls should look, and perform a certain way.

Also, the dieting keeps them in shape enough to have to dance and perform everyday.

If they let the girls eat what they want, they would not look as good, or perform as well.

And I imagine they would not be the beautiful idols we see now.

It's just like sports, when you are on a pro team, you have to exercise and diet.

If you get out of shape, you will not perform as well as you should.

Oh, man.  I can't believe you consider her chubby.

I guess that word means something else when you're talking about kpop idols.

If you saw her in real life, I think you'd be struck at how thin she is.  And the super thin idols are even thinner, to the point of looking frail.

Perception is weird.  Sometimes, I think those really thin idols look great, but other times, it bothers me...like when a girl's leg looks thinner than my arm.

Hmm...the only time I can think of when chubby might be used to describe a kpop girl idol is maybe Secret during the SLML promotions.  And they were actually super popular with the guys.  And of course, they all lost a lot of weight now and are thinner than they've ever been.

It's the girls that seem the most extreme with the skinny ideal.  Guys generally do not prefer their girls to be that skinny.

It depends tho, I live in Asia where the majority of men like thin girls, and girls want to be thin.

Comparing Yura to Nine Muses, or SNSD, I can easily say Yura is a bit chubby.

And every girl is different, some look great when they are thin, some better with some fat.

There are certain idols I feel are suited to be chubby, and others skinny.

But I like them all the same, if you're pretty you're pretty.

The majority of men?

It's pretty standard in surveys/studies that women find a thinner figure to be more attractive.  I think their perception has been skewed by years and years of looking at stick skinny fashion models.  In comparison, guys usually prefer a healthier body, especially with curves.  Healthier is still pretty thin.

You'd prefer a fashion model over a glamour/swimsuit model?  I think the majority of guys would prefer the healthier models, even in Asia.

But ya, all these models and idols are skinny, by normal people standards.

The difference between Yura and SNSD is probably like 5 pounds or something really small.  I think it's more a difference in body type.

I live in Thailand, where they look up to kpop groups like SNSD.

Not saying they all try to look like them, but that is the ideal body type around here.

Anything slightly thicker than that, people literally use the word "fat".

Which puts girls in a panic to lose weight when they don't need to.

My ideal type is that of a kpop idol group, like SNSD, 9Muses, After School, Hello Venus..ect.

I find that look healthy, they are physically fit, and athletic looking, imo.

Not to say Sistar or GsD or not healthy or fit, they are equally the same, it's just different.

So don't get me wrong, because I would love a gf like Soyu or Hyosung for sure.

Yeah body type, bone structure, and height all play a part in it as well.

I love kpop idols bodies from A to Z.

Ya, I know.

I think I just objected a bit to the word chubby.  I guess it is a cute way to say fat, but it's still hardly appropriate.

And ya, I've been living in Southern US, which has the fattest states...which means it's pretty much the fattest place in the world.  So my standards might be a little different, lol.

Chubby to me is not fat, nothing near it, I use that word in a good way.

Having some chub just means a slight, very slight bit of fat, yet still healthy and fit.

In this case, like I said before, Yura, especially in 2011 and 2012.

I am attracted to her chub, that chub made me a GsD fan.

That's the different in where we live, I live in Thailand, more most people are thin.

The slightest weight gain will drive a girl drive, and diet like crazy.

I have a Korean friend here, she's a dancer, perfect body, imo.

But her mom tells her she's fat, it annoys cuz she's not even close.

She starts to believe it to because people in Korea keep saying it.

It's pressure of society to look perfect in Asian, especially in Korea.

But really?  Athletic looking?  9muses and SNSD are athletic looking to you?

Hmm...maybe a few of them, but some of the members are like fragile looking.  Minha looks like a slight breeze would push her over.

Minha yeah, she is a bit frail, but she's my bias.

But thin Korean idols differ for the average Thai girl. In Thailand they are thin and frail, they sit in their office all day doing nothing. So even tho idols are thin, they still have muscle, nice ads, and muscle tone. That's what I mean by healthy and athletic, they are dancers after all.

Minah...Minha (which is the official spelling?)... I've seen some 9muses videos, but I don't really remember her personality.  Is she quiet?

As you might guess, I like Sera (seems like a really cool chick) and Eunji (hyper, random, fun).

Ah, okay.  I get what you mean about healthy/athletic.

=====

I still can't pick a GsD bias.  I like all of them about the same.  Whenever I start leaning towards one girl, another girl does something that changes my mind again.

Sorry I meant Minha...alway mess that up when I'm speed typing.

Minha is more the cute and sweet type, not really that outgoing or crazy. But I have a thing for her smile and lips.

-----------

My GsD bias is Sojin, tho Yura has been trying me crazy lately.

^

^ You're not the only one who focus too much in only one member. For some groups, sometimes I watch the performances two times, the first to keep only looking at my bias and the other to see the other members lol

And focused fancams are always better than group fancams!

I do that to, I watch a focus and then the group cam, both are great.  I just never get tired of seeing the girls.

Ya, those fancams are the best.  I've seen so many and have folders stuffed with downloads.

Another example of incredible stuff that some fans do.  Some of those fancammers are seriously dedicated.

Those fancamers are semi pro, they have money too, to be able to go to all those events.

And they have website, we just see what they upload, but they blog photos and videos themselves.

Sometimes they don't upload them, and fans can download and upload them to youtube.

Wow you follow 20? that's more than me, I follow 14, but I'm actually active in all of them, lol.

I mean, I'd say half of the 14 threads aren't that active, a couple aren't active at all actually.

They get update like every few days, so it's easy for me to keep up with all the threads.

But the others 7 I'm very active in, they are my top groups so I have to follow it constantly.

I'm most hardcore thought about Nine Muses, 4minute, Dal Shabet, Girls Day, and After School.

Tbh I knew you followed A LOT of threads so I wasn't sure how much you were really into some groups. It's good to see that you are hardcore about GsD and DS :P

I am casual with most groups, but it also depends whether or not a group is active.

For example, I love Brave Girls, they influenced my username, but they have had a comeback since last Feb, so I kinda but them down the list for other more active groups. There have been nothing to follow from them, so I just focus more on the active groups. So my feelings go up and down depending on what the group is doing, or not doing.

I have been hardcore for DS and GsD since both of their most recent comebacks.

I had be casual with them but their new songs really sucked me in, and then watching them on shows made me like them even more.

I guess I just have too much time, so I am able to like a lot of groups.

But it's just that, I actually genuinely like this groups, the music and and girls.

That's why I follow them, not just for the hell of it, that would be pointless.

Because if that was the case, I'd be following more groups.

In the end the most important thing is that I enjoy their music.

Honestly, I think I'm following groups because I enjoy the girls.  I follow because I want to know more about them.

If it was just the music, I wouldn't bother following the groups.  It would be the same thing I do with non-kpop music.  I listen to the songs, but I don't know anything about the groups themselves.

Btw, ofc the girls are an important part, but if I didn't like the music I wouldn't follow them. For me everything comes in the package,

What thi said pretty much, of course I am here for the girls.  Their beauty and personality is what brought me here, and it is their music that is keeping me here.  You need both.

If it was only for hot girls I'd be into SNSD but that is not the case. They are hot, yes, but I just don't care for anything else about them.

I know I don't. It just happens that GsD make really good music, but I'd follow them even if they do a OMG 2.0.

I don't know if I'm understanding you properly but..

Of course, why wouldn't you follow them?

if you support the group, you will follow them even if you don't like one of their songs.

I'm saying that before you even know the girls, there is more to just following them because of their beauty.  They have to have good enough music to make me continue following them.

For example, right now I decided to follow Hello Venus, because I think they are cute.  But if they don't impress me with their music, I will forget about them.  Because even if they are cute and have nice personalities, they have no music for me to enjoy. So it's meaningless for me.

Unless you follow a group not for the music, but for the entertainment the girls provide?
