Everyday, Girl's Day! - Official Girl's Day Thread

pop music (korean or otherwise) is often generic and derivative so anytime I hear, "this song is a copy of that song or blah, blah," I just chuckle a bit. Plus, most of these groups don't even write or compose their own songs and cycle through concepts according to whatever management thinks will do well. Then again I'm not too familiar with Sistar. I tecall one MV where I think they were rubbing their butts on a table and I thought to myself "that's not very sexy" but some of their other MVs were good. In any case, I never felt there were any strong similarities with Girl's Day songs (at least no more than with any other girl group).

I actually think I like the other songs better than I Am a Woman Too. It seems like it's too cold to be performing the song outside in those outfits. The crowd is full of people wearing full jackets yet Minah & dancers are in shorts with an exposed shoulder. Brrrrr...

Thanks for the vid! Jihae does seem like the sexy member after Sojin--I guess cute concepts just weren't her style.

 

Well lucky for Hyeri and her stint on Real Men! I actually just started following GsD after watching Yura on We Got Married program...never gave them a chance before but I'm glad I know of them now! Their songs are great and I can't wait for their comeback!

 

I think if JiHae was still in Girl's Day, they would've achieved similar success. Hug Me Once would've worked with her. Expectation was the big hit the group needed and JiHae would definitely have added sexiness to it. I'd bet that if any one of JiHae, Yura or Hyeri had left before that it wouldn't have impacted the success of Expectation. Of course, one can never know for sure because Yura and Hyeri's activities have surely attracted new fans to the group and who knows if JiHae would've also attracted more attention. As much as I like Yura and have come to appreciate Hyeri more, for me, Girl's Day will always held together by Minah and Sojin.

The teaser is intriguing. It reminds me of a happy and hazy summer day. Teasers can be misleading but I almost feel like there is a tinge of sadness or at least lost nostalgia but who knows maybe it will be all happy, happy, joy, joy.

I remember a long time ago that Minah thought her eyes were "dull" and although I wouldn't use that word, her eyes do look quite different without makeup. Out of all the members she seems to benefit most from makeup but I like her no makeup natural look too. It's just different. She looks like more of a "regular next door" girl without makeup, still attractive but not a bombshell or anything. For me at least, she was the first member whom I recognized with ease because of her distinctive looks and personality. I recall that AllKPop promo video they made when promoting Nothing Lasts Forever. Then again, I wonder how I had such a hard time differentiating the other members at first when they all look so different and unique in their own ways.

I'm a bit surprised that Minah's pic is the one that's the most "controversial" or at least most talked about. Her picture was the only one I did not know at all without looking up. I certainly do not associate Juliet with a single actress. Most Shakepearean works have been adapted multiple times anyway.

 

I would think comparing Sojin to Madonna or Hyeri to Audrey Hepburn would get way more criticism.

 

Is Sharon Stone really Yura's favored icon to emulate? The Basic Instinct choice makes me think one of the male higher ups made the decision on that one (probably the same one who decided on the flesh tone body hugging dress from Female President)

This is from a month ago. Don't know if anyone posted this but Minah and her sister Hyuna/Lina had a funny moment together. She was covering Something.
