I only missed a few days and it's page 10 already. :)  gj!

tumblr_mmfy6xFoEz1sp6m28o1_250.gif

That's the part that immediately stuck out to me too.  It's so interesting how girls can do little subconscious gestures like this that can totally pull a guy in.  Like biting the lower lip, etc.

Girlstalker will shut down in less than a week. If you want the pics from it (a few thousand of them), you can PM me for the links.

Why are they shutting down?

Are there other good sources for HiRes pictures of GD?

I still think they do it on purpose to tease us lol

There are definitely times when it's on purpose.  Notably during performances when they have a brief fullshot and want to make a big impact really quickly.

They practice that stuff in front of a mirror for long, long periods of time.  I think that'd be a hilarious thing to see.  A girl group lined up in front of mirrors practicing stuff like winking and aegyo.

But that lip thing didn't look on purpose...somehow that makes it sexier.

Gain weight? I already consider her chubby.  she is perfect like she is, with that little gut peaking out, I love it. :lub:

Oh, man.  I can't believe you consider her chubby.

I guess that word means something else when you're talking about kpop idols.

If you saw her in real life, I think you'd be struck at how thin she is.  And the super thin idols are even thinner, to the point of looking frail.

Perception is weird.  Sometimes, I think those really thin idols look great, but other times, it bothers me...like when a girl's leg looks thinner than my arm.

Hmm...the only time I can think of when chubby might be used to describe a kpop girl idol is maybe Secret during the SLML promotions.  And they were actually super popular with the guys.  And of course, they all lost a lot of weight now and are thinner than they've ever been.

It's the girls that seem the most extreme with the skinny ideal.  Guys generally do not prefer their girls to be that skinny.

It depends tho, I live in Asia where the majority of men like thin girls, and girls want to be thin.

Comparing Yura to Nine Muses, or SNSD, I can easily say Yura is a bit chubby.

And every girl is different, some look great when they are thin, some better with some fat.

There are certain idols I feel are suited to be chubby, and others skinny.

But I like them all the same, if you're pretty you're pretty.

The majority of men?

It's pretty standard in surveys/studies that women find a thinner figure to be more attractive.  I think their perception has been skewed by years and years of looking at stick skinny fashion models.  In comparison, guys usually prefer a healthier body, especially with curves.  Healthier is still pretty thin.

You'd prefer a fashion model over a glamour/swimsuit model?  I think the majority of guys would prefer the healthier models, even in Asia.

But ya, all these models and idols are skinny, by normal people standards.

The difference between Yura and SNSD is probably like 5 pounds or something really small.  I think it's more a difference in body type.

After discussing it a lot yesterday with NBM (lol), it's like what you said, it's a matter of perception and the place you live. And Asians seems to really like thinner girls. Probably you're not from an Asian country and like me have a different beauty standard when it comes to weight. Btw, the chubby thing is really an exaggeration, none of them is really chubby, it's just a way we are using to compare thin and super thin girls in kpop lol

Ya, I know.

I think I just objected a bit to the word chubby.  I guess it is a cute way to say fat, but it's still hardly appropriate.

And ya, I've been living in Southern US, which has the fattest states...which means it's pretty much the fattest place in the world.  So my standards might be a little different, lol.

I live in Thailand, where they look up to kpop groups like SNSD.

Not saying they all try to look like them, but that is the ideal body type around here.

Anything slightly thicker than that, people literally use the word "fat".

Which puts girls in a panic to lose weight when they don't need to.

My ideal type is that of a kpop idol group, like SNSD, 9Muses, After School, Hello Venus..ect.

I find that look healthy, they are physically fit, and athletic looking, imo.

Not to say Sistar or GsD or not healthy or fit, they are equally the same, it's just different.

So don't get me wrong, because I would love a gf like Soyu or Hyosung for sure.

Yeah body type, bone structure, and height all play a part in it as well.

I love kpop idols bodies from A to Z.

I do understand and I'm with you.  We're kpop fans mainly for the girls and the music is a nice side benefit. :)

But really?  Athletic looking?  9muses and SNSD are athletic looking to you?

Hmm...maybe a few of them, but some of the members are like fragile looking.  Minha looks like a slight breeze would push her over.

I'm not totally sure what my ideal type is.  Judging by my real life, I like the skinny asian girls, too.  But given a choice, I think I'd prefer a bit healthier/curvier.  Anyways, as long as the girl looks good enough to me, personality is more important.  Bora and Hyosung are my main biases because of their personalities, more than their looks.

Minah yeah, she is a bit frail, but she's my bias.

But thin Korean idols differ for the average Thai girl. In Thailand they are thin and frail, they sit in their office all day doing nothing. So even tho idols are thin, they still have muscle, nice ads, and muscle tone. That's what I mean by healthy and athletic, they are dancers after all.

Minah...Minha (which is the official spelling?)... I've seen some 9muses videos, but I don't really remember her personality.  Is she quiet?

As you might guess, I like Sera (seems like a really cool chick) and Eunji (hyper, random, fun).

Ah, okay.  I get what you mean about healthy/athletic.

=====

I still can't pick a GsD bias.  I like all of them about the same.  Whenever I start leaning towards one girl, another girl does something that changes my mind again.

It's actually kinda nice not having a bias.

For Secret and Sistar, I'm REALLY biased and my eyes are basically glued on them the entire time, when I watch performances/shows.  Sometimes, I'll actually get a little annoyed when the camera pans away or another member blocks my view.  It's weird.

With GsD, I'm perfectly happy whoever is on screen.

Ya, those fancams are the best.  I've seen so many and have folders stuffed with downloads.

Another example of incredible stuff that some fans do.  Some of those fancammers are seriously dedicated.

There really is so much stuff out there to watch.  Years of backlogged videos.  Endless pictures.  Just browsing through Tumblr is fun, all those great gifs.

It's partly why I don't avidly follow as many groups anymore.  I just don't have enough time.  So I only really follow a handful of groups.  For the other groups, I just pay attention during comebacks.

I don't think I've ever even seen you anywhere else besides the Sistar, Secret, and GsD threads.

I kinda go through phases, where I'll get really interested in a group and watch every video I can find to learn more about them.  I have like 20+ threads in my 'Content You Follow' page.  But for most, I'm not dedicated enough to keep up on a regular basis.  I still really like all of them, but it's just too much.

And lol, every time I open the 'Content You Follow' page, I see your name all over the page, as the most recent post on a ton of threads.

So I decided to try focusing on a smaller number of groups and being more hardcore about it.

Wow you follow 20? that's more than me, I follow 14, but I'm actually active in all of them, lol.

I mean, I'd say half of the 14 threads aren't that active, a couple aren't active at all actually.

They get update like every few days, so it's easy for me to keep up with all the threads.

But the others 7 I'm very active in, they are my top groups so I have to follow it constantly.

I'm most hardcore thought about Nine Muses, 4minute, Dal Shabet, Girls Day, and After School.

I have them on my Content You Follow, but it's not like you.  At some point, I did follow them avidly.  But now, I just occasionally lurk, unless they have a comeback.  I get most of my news updates from blog feeds now, since I don't have time to participate in the fan community.  I'm not sure why I'm following some of these threads.

I think I've been a huge fan of most girl groups at some point.  There is so much I know about all these girls, lol.

There are so many great groups.  I just wish I had more time (and money, lol).

I guess I just have too much time, so I am able to like a lot of groups.

But it's just that, I actually genuinely like this groups, the music and and girls.

That's why I follow them, not just for the hell of it, that would be pointless.

Because if that was the case, I'd be following more groups.

In the end the most important thing is that I enjoy their music.

Honestly, I think I'm following groups because I enjoy the girls.  I follow because I want to know more about them.

If it was just the music, I wouldn't bother following the groups.  It would be the same thing I do with non-kpop music.  I listen to the songs, but I don't know anything about the groups themselves.

I am only following Girl's Day and Dal Shabet with a lot of interest, but I lurk in other threads too and almost never post. I forgot to answer to your question about other GsD sites, I don't know others to be honest. Now that Girlstalker will close, we will have to rely on general blogs of Korean photographers (thestudio.kr, all-idol.com, wasabcon.tistory.com, spdstudio.tistory.com, eyeyou.tistory.com and a few others; I still didn't compile the complete list of all the blogs I know).

I found that there's a new blog dedicated to Yura: http://yuraday.tistory.com/ . It has some pics that I've also seen on other blogs so I hope it's not just a kind of blog that collects pics from other sources. One friend who helps GirlsDayDaily has a nice blog that is mostly Minah-focused: http://arcturus127.tistory.com/

Thanks for the links!

An event everyday for GsD... When I think I'm finishing watching all fancams, there's already tons of new ones.

I only complain that Sojin has the smaller number of fancams...

I'm super happy for them that they are getting events.  Those can pay pretty well.

I was a bit disappointed with their digital sales, though.  With all the hype, I was expecting big numbers.

Total digital aggregate

SNSD-IGAB - 142,483,514

Sistar19-GNAAL - 181,356,287

9muses-Dolls - 42,443,871

Rainbow-TMTM - 71,361,478

Girl's Day-Expect - 74,510,973

It'll be interesting to see how the current girl group wars will pan out, in comparison.

Well, 3rd place on that list isn't bad, only behind SNSD and Sistar19.  They aren't expected to beat out those two groups anyways, and Expect go a good response from everybody.

Oh, the numbers are pretty good.  I'm just saying that I thought the sales would be bigger.  The girls were so happy, the hugging event to thank the fans, etc.  I thought the sales would be seriously huge.

And those numbers are the total sales, so adding the May and June results could make it reach 100m.

It's the first time I'm seeing the numbers. As you said,  it's not that the numbers aren't good, but I also expected to see something bigger.

The song was successful, they are probably one of the most requested groups of the moment for events and you can even see that they are being called for a lot of variety shows. Also, it's my preference, but it's the better song from the list.

Ya, sorry.  Expect did come out mid-March, so May sales should be decent.  100,000,000 is a possibility, which does look a lot more impressive in that list of numbers.

It really shows that Sistar19 was a monster hit, though.

I really wish I could compare the numbers to 2012 and GsD's previous releases, particularly Don't Forget Me.  But no, looking at the numbers, the comparisons don't make sense.

Oh, wow.

They landed a chicken CF.  Supposedly, chicken CF's are reserved for the really popular groups. :)

I have no idea whether this is a big chain or anything, but this is cool.  CF's are where the money is at.

I think JiHae was the best dancer from what I've seen. Unless it's a group where each member plays a different instrument, as far as vocalist only groups, I don't see the point of having more than 4-5 members. It would've nice if JiHae had stayed but I can imagine juggling group activities and going to school could be quite hard and tiring. I just hope that she left amicably.

She definitely was the best dancer.  That was her primary role and how she got into GsD.  Unfortunately, this is a job that isn't properly appreciated by fans.  They only see the result of endless hours of practice by all the members, so it looks like they can all dance.

Oh, she was also in charge of being sexy.  But ya, being in GsD, she didn't get to be sexy very often.

I hope she isn't regretting the decision to leave now, considering that GsD found a lot of success after she left.

And I agree that I don't really see the point of having more than 4-5 members.

A little random, but I wanted to post this funny and thoughtful Nic Cage video from one of my favorite youtube channels.

To me kpop sounds like western music they really dont have their own style. Most of their influence comes from jmusic and western music. Kpop trend is like Reggaeton to me now it was a nice trend but now I just listen to artist I like and not bother with the rest. Kmusic doesn't have variety like western music and jmusic which is why its popularity/trend is dying, everyone is getting bored with the same thing. Even dramas. Chinese music would be big if it wasn't for everything being ballads. They like japanese have way better dramas and actors.

What?  Doesn't have variety?

You probably think that because, quoting you..."now I just listen to artist I like and not bother with the rest"

It's pop music, like pop music anywhere else.  There is plenty of overlap between american, jpop and kpop.  And lots of variety because pop music draws inspiration from a lot of different genres.  If someone did a Japanese, English, Korean version of the same songs, I doubt anyone would notice anything strange or different.

But I do agree about the kdramas, bleh.  I've watched only a few of them and I just can't bear to see any more, even when I specifically pick a kdrama for the hot babes. :)  For shows, I'll stick to my american TV (which really is the best) and anime (which has the widest range of everything...harem, lol).

Does anyone know how Yura's leg insurance works?  I was re-watching their last Weekly Idol (I think it was that program) and she confirmed that she's still paying for it.  Apparenlty, it's $500,000 and costs like $30 a day or something?

How the heck do you go about getting that insurance?  I wonder if any other idols have something like that.

Imagine if Bora had insurance on her body or even just her legs...she'd be rich from the payout...

What are you talking about? I'm making sense of this.

Just google 'yura leg insurance' and there are a bunch of articles, but no real details.  Some of the articles are from 2010, so she's had the leg insurance for a while now.

lol, I don't really know what the heck it means to get your legs insured.  That's why I was asking.

LOL are you serious? Why just her legs? I'd insure her entire existence! :p

I wonder if she did try to get other parts insured.  Maybe it's too expensive, lol.

I'm surprised she can afford it tbh... kpop idols don't really make much money unless you're at the TOP TOP. They're doing better now but they're still no where near the point where they can live extravagantly.

It is work related.  Maybe it's tax deductible (unlikely, lol, leg insurance) or the agency is helping out.  Oh, wait a sec.  I double checked some articles and I had the cost wrong...sorry.  $30 a month.
