Do you believe in paranormal stuff?

no.

the fact that all this stuff can be lumped together as similar despite them being very different gives off the impression that the category existed before the specific items within it (whereas with things that actually exist, the category usually comes AFTER the similar items are discovered) means that it is invented.

categories are human made. the universe doesn't make them. it doesn't sit down at a nice little cosmic council and say, "hey, let's make this massive category of things that apply pretty well to one random species of earth animal and make good stories but are otherwise completely undetectable."

--------------------------------------

humans want to see the universe as human, but it is not. it doesn't fit to what we want, and so there are things we don't understand because it doesn't go in nice boxes that relate to your everyday life. when one of these things is suddenly relevant (but not immediately explicable), we latch it onto something we already know (often bending it and stretching it to fit it with our world view) or try to invent a new category for it (that fits our pre-determined world view).

there are no paranormal things. those are fake by definition.

there ARE things that are yet inexplicable, but they are not how humans like to imagine them to be (like how vampire bats are just regular bats, not demons that hunt for human blood. or how mermaids were just manatees. and how the sun is a massive sphere of chemical reactions and not a celestial man in a chariot. or the "alchemy" of mixing two deadly chemicals to create regular table salt. or the "i saw the light" moment of a dying human losing use of their senses one at a time).

all right then that's all fair to say

but are you implying that people shouldn't be believing in this

Not at all.

Nothing is not explainable via Science, and it's not because we're too dumb (on a scientific point of view, humanity are still babies) to explain it, that we must seek the most irrational and disproportionate ways for them to make sense on a personal and individual level.

strange, i thought i was being pretty explicit.

to a point, having this kind of imagination and wonder can drive scientific development and fantasy imagination it's also a nice celebration of our cultural history. but it is also severely limiting to both. there's much more you can accomplish if you leave questions open rather than forcing in answers and explore new territory rather than redrawing old paths.

not necessarily. that could just be your stance on the topic it doesn't directly state that you are trying to be oppressive

edit:

oh ok nvm i see you said it clearly in your edit above

that's all i was wondering thanks +1

Nah man. There's a reason why something happens. Random shadow that just moved? Trick of the eye. But I don't know much about science, I just don't really care about real life paranormal experiences. I love horror, gore and paranormal stuff, just don't believe it.
