Are women pressured into wearing make up all the time?

Hi :)

Yep, I think women are pressured into wearing make up all the time

sad really :(

Do you see that situation improving in the future?

What sort of incentives could be used to improve this?

Who do you think is the main cause of this pressure?

Do you ladies feel this pressure? if yes, in which environments; if no, what is it that you do that lets you overcome this pressure?

Discuss :)

Not really here (France)... I only wear mascara on a daily basis and most of my friends don't wear makeup or very little makeup (we're all adults, btw) and no one ever says anything so I guess nobody cares  :imstupid:

People THINK they're pressuring me.
"You know you'd be much prettier with..." "You should try to put in the effort and look more presentable by putting on..." "There's nothing wrong with trying to look your best, you never know who you'll meet..."

But I honestly don't care LOL! If I feel like putting on a li'l coloured gloss, I do it. If I feel like putting on full on lipstick, I do it. If I feel like I could try a bit of eyeliner or shadow, I do it. If I'm going to some special occasion and I'm up for doing the whole full face...I (might) do it.

But it all depends on whether I feel like I want to wear it that day or not. 90% of the time I don't feel like wearing any makeup at all. Daily the most I'll put on is gloss....if even that much. I'm not the prettiest but I look decent even without makeup. So...that's that.

I dont think we are pressured, I think we enjoy it more and more.

And every time men start with "dont use too much make up" or "thats why I have trust issues" I feel like using it even more.

It depends on the person if they feel pressured but I do agree that society plays heavy emphasis on looks that many do.

This, basically

The only people I've ever really been pressured to wear makeup by is my parents. I've had girl friends sometimes pry about why I don't wear it, and of course the media always tells you that guys will be more attracted to you if you make up your face or whatever...

Thing is, you gotta just do what you're comfortable doing. I don't like wearing makeup, so when I do it's for special occasions, professional occasions, or just because I happened to feel like wearing it at the moment, and whenever I do wear it it's never heavy.

There are times when I was in middle school I would cry because I thought I was making things worse for myself by choosing not to wear it but that I still couldn't wear it because I had to "stand up" to society and it's beauty standards...at some point I just went "man, fuck that noise." I just do what I want, with the important thing being that I feel good in whatever style I choose to adorn. Someone once said "women don't wear makeup for anybody but themselves," and once you're mature enough to realize that it basically becomes the truth

yes it's improving, people wear makeup less often to impress other but at the same time it's not because girls are starting to wear makeup at a younger age because they're pressured into it

people should wear makeup only if they feel like they should, no one has the right to judge

society is the cause, the models, the movies, the advertisements- it's everywhere and there's so many gorgeous people out there, that you think- i want to become beautiful too

no, i don't feel pressured. None of my friends wear makeup(i lied, they wear light makeup like eyeliner and gloss) i do the same thing; but it doesn't stand out and no were not forced to wear it; it's to define our features and make us pretty
