People hiding their identities over the internet

People are lying about themselves because they get confidence to say things, they never would say in real life....because they are too afraid. Is this true and is it an issue?

For example, someone said something offensive to you personally by putting on that macho act, but they know that you can only defend youselves with words. Over the Internet they feel safe but in real life they would pee their pants

It's an issue if you get close to someone and believe everything they've told you and then you find out it's all lies.

Obviously it's not cool for people to lie but it's also up to people to choose who to put their trust in. You probably shouldn't fully trust someone until they've given you a solid reason to trust them, and you should always be at least a little skeptical when you're meeting random people on the internet.

What i don't understand most is why people post/show wrong/stolen pics of other people and pretend it's them.

Bro/sis' if you think you're too fug to show yourself for real, just say you don't want to. Pls don't pretend to look like someone else wtf

As for hiding identity, well you got to hide yourself. Too many creeps and stalkers out there.

People lie all the d*mn time. Acting like they don't. Looking down on others.

Plus you might as well stand by your statement because you cant really hide from them

even if you are anonymous in this day and age.

No need to be scared or have 'fake' confidence then.

I think lots of people do it

Since everyone does it, it should be ok for individuals to do it too?

What the gain of hiding identities anways other than super personal information

If a person can't say something in real life, they shouldn't say it at all, its not justified

I don't expect everyone on the internet to be 100% honest tbh. No one is irl too. I'm not the same person when I'm around certain friends.. doesn't make me fake, just that other people bring out different parts of my personality...

But they don't change my race, age, or whole life though

That's a whole different level of lying

Yep, sometimes it's insecurity since you can be who you're not online. They act all badass and tough when they're behind a screen and it does make them feel accomplished when they win an internet argument. You see Taeyeon taking legal action against all the online haters and now they're making pathetic excuses  it's pitiful to watch but that's probably the only way they'll learn.
