I saw that too! Super excited!

The tags have gayoon and junhyung's names. I'm thinking he might have made the song and she's singing it. Idk but :ahmagah:

yeah, that's a crucial proof :rlytearpls:

everything matches with hashtags 'cube' and 08.05 date so I'm really hoping it's true, and yeah, he might have produced it but also rapped, I think we'll know everything in a week

Gosh, now I'm even more excited, sad that Mask ended since it was my favourite drama of 2015 so far but really hyped up for Yong Pal though :ahmagah: I hope it lives up to my expectations like its predecessor :)

oh well, that was a very intense ride for a 1st episode :ahmagah:  I'm officially in love with Yong Pal, my guts were right about this drama being something special. I'm surprised that so many things already happened because pilots are mostly used to build a world the characters live in which is not the case here, because the gears were put in motion as I imagine it will go like this: Taehyun will be caught, evil chief will assign him to Yeojin, she'll wake up and from there straight up juicy revenge-story and epic love-story.

I'm glad there's something I can look forward to every week besides I Remember You which is ending next week, hope Yong Pal keeps up to my expectations :hurr:

PS. That OST Girl's instagram, the one posted earlier has been deleted, I wonder what happened. Also about OST, I really like the song they played during the ending. I kinda know this voice but can't place him anywhere...

I liked the second episode more than the first, just how good it was :rlytearpls: replayed this scene when Kim Tae Hee wakes up a few times, she really did look like a goddess there, and how creepy of that nurse to treat her like a doll. Can't wait for next week and moment when Yeo Jin joins the fun, from the preview it seems like she'll wake up but still remain incarcerated in her 'tower'. Can't wait for their first meeting and the release of that OST from the ending, it's beautiful

I just saw the first two episodes and I lover it! such a good pace. So nice to see Jo Hyun Jae again because I love him so much in 49 days and for Jung Woong In, I love his villain role acting in I hear your voice. Joo Won crying in the hospital during his mother scene was perfect...so emotional. Kim Tae Hee is beautiful and I agree with you guys when she woke up with that lipstick and her dark long hair!! Stunning!! :ilove: :ilove: :ilove:

For the OST, I hear The One's voice in the preview. But whoever it is, can't wait for the full release because it sounds beautiful!

oh right, now that I listened to it and The One's previous OST from Secret Door back and forth it really sounds like him, either way waiting for release  :ahmagah:

and that's so true, she looks like a Snow White here, bloody Snow White :rlytearpls:  overall I love the fairytale-esque setting of this drama - Yeojin-Rapunzel and Taehyun-Prince Charming on their way next week, hoping both Joo Won and Tae Hee will deliver amazing chemistry :hurr:

Episode 3 & 4 Rating

tavWH0F.jpg?1

16.3% for only Ep. 4!! Nice!! :ahmagah: :ahmagah: :ahmagah:

Omo, it's breaking record after record, I can see Yong Pal becoming the next You Who Came From The Stars as the super-hit-drama, fighting!

As for the episodes 3&4, I LOVED THEM. I can already see, and most importantly feel the chemistry between Taehyun and Yeojin. I'm relieved actually because I think many of us feared there wouldn't be any. But if we felt the chemistry in the scenes when they don't even touch and one of them is uncounscious or wants to commit suicide, the rest is a given. I'm glad Kim Tae Hee and Joo Won deliver.

And about Kim Tae Hee, a lot of us also feared she woulnd't keep up with Joo Won's acting skills but so far she is doing surprisingly well. The scene when she tells that she wants to kill everyone who put her in sleep or when she tries to tell Taehyun that she can hear him really impressed me. I hope she keeps it up.

Waiting for episode 5 will kill me. End of the story.

The ratings soared again apparently, at this pace Yong Pal will reach 20% next week. (I hope :rlytearpls: )

So loving episode 5, I think this is my most favourite so far actually. It was surely slower than the previous ones but the establishment of the relationship between Yeo Jin and Tae Hyun was something we've waited for so long. And it was great, the rich vengeful ice-princess and poor criminal-scumbag fit so well together. The chemistry between them is really undeniable, when he leaned close to take a look on the phone my screen sizzled. :ahmagah: And of course, her reaction was so funny. I hope we'll get more of this teasing, but understanding dynamic between them.

And so glad that Kim Tae Hee really improved her acting and constantly delivers a good performance, she isn't overshadowed or visibly overacted by Joo Won in their scenes together as a lot of us feared. I just hope Yong Pal keeps this everything up till the very end. Gosh, I'm so excited for tonight's episode. :ahmagah:

AGB ratings released!

Yong Pal: 20.4%

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this makes Yongpal the highest rated drama this year, right?

Yong Pal became the highest rated drama since You Who Came From the Stars ended and we all know how much impact and power this drama had. If Yong Pal turns out like it and so far it does, it will be one of the biggest drama hits of last few years. So proud and glad :rlytearpls:

Oh my, what I love about this drama, which I realized after watching episode 6 is its ridiculousness. Because we're three weeks in and we already had car-chase, jumping from a bridge to Han river, attempted suicide twice, rape case, nuclear disaster' danger, gun shots, war in hospital and alliances switched so many times last episode that I lost count. I think the ridiculous is good when it's done right and so far, Yong Pal hit all the right spots. 'If you compared it to a drama where literally NOTHING happened like The Time We Were Not In Love, you'd faint' to quote Yeo Jin. :hurr:

Also I read somewhere that the extension is not confirmed as some journalists claim so I wouldn't worry about it. At that it's still relatively early in the plot so I think writer can adjust to a POSSIBLE extended run. But what a mess it is if I believe what I heard, apparently it was originally scheduled for 20 episodes, got shortened to 16 when started filming, now extended MAYBE to 24 or 20 again. I will hope for only good things now.

And I love love love our OTP. I thought that no drama couple could climb up my bias list this year and dethrone Minwoo and Jisook from Mask, but Yeojin and Taehyun are on their way there. I hope their love will be as epic as I imagine.

to make this thread less dead than it it now ( ) I post this photo

sawdb8.jpg

Credit to whoever posted it first.

So it seems we'll be getting an obligatory dream sequence of (I think) Yeojin. There's also Taehyun so methinks he's going to appear in that 'dream' and 'bring her back to life'. Otherwise I don't know why they would be at the lake since I doubt they went on vacation after what happened in episode 6.

Thank god the extension in episodes isn't confirmed yet...

Haha... The mob boss is actually very cute... I love his interactions with our male lead...

Love Cynthia this episode... When she rips off her skirt and start fighting then finally firing the gun... I'm like "you go girl!"...

Just a personal thought here...

After this episode, it reminds me of my experience watching My Love from the Star...

Both achieve high ratings despite the million obvious plot holes in both the stories...

Both have an ability to engage with viewers and keep viewers with them with cliffhangers despite all the ridiculousness in their stories...

My Love from the Star is called overrated because the story line isn't the best but achieved such ratings and received much international love... I can see Yong Pal being called overrated in contrast to its rating at one point too...

I know its too early too judge but I hope Yong Pal can deliver us an interesting drama at the end of the day...

A quite dead thread... :rlytearpls: I know drama watchers are more generally at soompi forums... haha...

And yeah, I agree about the comparison with You From Another Star. They seem to follow the same path as a drama, but the characters switched. I mean now we have bubbly and easy-going but internally layered male lead and icy cold, but later caring charismatic female lead opposite to YFAS. I hope YongPal becomes as big as the former one.

lol at their reaction when Chief Lee ripped his suspender :hurr:

Kim Tae Hee tried so much not to laugh when Joo Won broke her bed, they seem to have so much fun during filming even though they are surely very tired. On a sidenote, Joo Won is so tall he had to bend his knees in the last scene, considering KTH is around 30 cms shorter their kiss gonna look hilarious unless they sit or lay(in a bed :imstupid: )

Since they were together at the lake I'm assuming they'll meet each other and bring one another from the verge of death. Oh, our starcrossed lovers, wait, I mean friends :rlytearpls:

Anyone heard about new OST? I reckon only top names will contribute to soundtrack of such a hit drama, so I'm really curious about it.

I feel like Oppa Han isn't as evil as he seems, maybe psychotic, but he didn't seem as pleased as one'd imagine when he covered that dummy with a sheet. So both Taehyun and Yeojin are one step from dying now, did anyone notice that the lotuses (I don't know how to call them right :imstupid: ) at the lake have a shape resembling heart? Waiting is killing me.

And is there a translation on what are they saying?

MY FAVE CHARACTER CYNTHIA (in Dr. Jung voice)!!!! :omg:

MY FAVE NURSE AND SLIGHTLY VILLAIN NURSE HWANG!!! :omg:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Stephanie Lee and Bae Hae Sun to leave 'Yong Pal'

Wednesday, August 26, 2015 Yong Pal .

nfjs.jpg

Star News - Naver: [Exclusive] Stepanie Lee to leave 'Yong Pal'... to appear until episode 8

1. [+10,747, -143] Isn't she the Neutrogena girl?

2. [+9,910, -263] Heol Neutrogena unni. It's unfortunate that she's leaving. I've grown fond of her pronunciation...

3. [+8,082, -373] She totally matches her character and I thought she'll appear for the entire duration of the drama ã… ã… Hope to see you in another project ^^

4. [+4,583, -161] Let me guess. She dies?

5. [+1,060, -25] Huh? I thought she'd keep playing the assistant who has a crush Joo Won? The drama's unpredictable

6. [+1,060, -25] The worst actress in 'Yong Pal' is the girl who plays Joo Won's younger sister

7. [+908, -70] Why is she leaving? Her character is charming

nndjs.jpg

Osen - Naver: 'Yong Pal' Nurse Hwang Bae Hae Sun, unfortunate that she's leaving  this early

1. [+10,444, -97] She's a scene stealer. I'm always so tense whenever this unni comes out. Kinda sad that she's leaving ã… ã…

2. [+8,571, -115] Why is she leaving? Her acting's amazing

3. [+6,352, -70] I wish they could expand her storyline. I find characters like her more entertaining than the usual ambiguous ones

4. [+5,570, -68]  Please don't leave. I like how she infuses thrill elements into the drama

5. [+452, -10] This is musical actress Bae Hae Sun's first acting experience in a drama and she was excellent! Sad to see her go

6. [+419, -13] But I thought she's a key character~~~~~ What a shame ~

*crying*

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but Stephanie Lee irritated me a bit with her overacting sometimes. Still Cynthia's leaving is a surprise since everyone expected her to be in a love triangle with Taehyun and Yeojin. Wishing her luck in her next ventures though

Nurse Hwang.... ... the best creepy nurse in dramaland. She will be missed..

oh our OTP, so epic :rlytearpls:  and did anyone see major spoiler for tonight's episode? If you know what I'm talking about :hurr:

No word on osts. I'm thinking we'll hear a new one in this week's episodes and maybe get it released next week (?).

You could be right, during their rooftop scene the song by female singer was played. Looking forward to it, lovely and beautiful melody :ahmagah:

^ I saw that spoiler. :derp: um....I was not expecting that so soon

I think nobody expected it so soon, but what I realized was that although the loveline feels a lil bit, a really lil bit rushed from a writing point of view, Kim Tae Hee and Joo Won make it work. Like, I believe thanks to them that their characters are really fated for each other. I dunno if that makes any sense :derp:

Episode 8 was a lot better than 7th, that's for sure. As I said, I don't mind the loveline even a lil bit rushed because Kim Tae Hee and Joo Won work that chemistry. I kinda feel like the writer is pushing the romantic subplot (that would happen anyway) to make space for other storylines in the next episodes, I feel like this is only the beggining of the drama. Anyway, really liked episode 8, from episode 7 I will surely remember the rooftop scene.

I hope it's only one-time slip in quality and next week we'll get Yong Pal we love again.

Yeah, after rewatching episodes 7&8 as a whole, back to back, I actually got what the writer intended on doing. If these eps were combined or even broadcasted one after another I believe the negative feedback wouldn't be as bad as it is. What I agree about though with the haters of their romance is that the viewers shouldn't be confused with a way the writer is writing his drama. You shouldn't have to watch the same episodes again just to find what he really meant and feel what he wanted us to feel. That's entirely writer's fault and I hope he won't let something like that happen again, after all it's his first romantic work so a little slip is forgivable.

From my (changed) perspective I actually can see Taehyun knowing that he cares about Yeojin very much, but still NOT knowing what to do with these feelings. As he said, he forgot that she originated from a whole different world than the one he knows, that's why he's so nervous and sad during their church trip. Everything about his affection for her is more about instinct than reason, you know, there's that spark you can't quiet pinpoint that makes you fall head over heels for someone. I believe that's the case for Taehyun.

On the Yeojin's end I feel like she clearly feels something right now, but can't name it yet. Taehyun was the first person she met after three years in darkness. He saved her from commiting suicide, opened up to her, risked his life to get her out of the 12th floor and now is helping her to get right back on track of her old life. Which girl wouldn't fall for something like that? But she can't really interpret this feeling as it is now mixed with gratitude, a lil bit of a pity, self-guilt for playing with life of his sister and deep longing for her Romeo that died. She is in a much more complicated place emotionally.

And I feel like this whole mess wouldn't escalate if the writer held back with a kiss for a little longer. I mean, for Koreans the kiss seams almost as radical as making out. I didn't mind it as I said, after rewatch and reading some other comments, but God damn, it's just a kiss, a lot of relationships start with a kiss, so what? Now I know that the writer is a man, and as a man myself, I get why Taehyun kissed her. This is what you call timing, pals, nothing to argue about. And overall this kiss is more of a seal between Yeojin and Yongpal, like he agreed he'd wait for her no matter how time she needs to recover.

And ona sidenote I don't get why Koreans like drunk kisses, half-asleep kisses or accidental kisses that happen in almost every drama. They approve of and don't critisize them even though for me it's a lot sicker than a kiss between two grown-up adults like in Yong Pal. And the same goes for childood connection, like they believe the romance if the heroine saw the hero for a second twenty years old, but don't believe when the two adults fall in love over the dramatic circumstances that brought them together. I bet that if we were shown that little Yeojin gave a penny to a crying Taehyun by a church they would be on a cloud nine and giving the writer outstanding applause for his extraordinary storytelling skills. Argh, these people.

Still loving this drama, wishing all the best to staff and eagerly waiting for a real action next week. Sorry for a long rant.

Nah...the actress actually left the drama; it came in the news, so...thassit for her xD

I'm a Jamaican...lol but the type of person I am appreciates the..."fantasy innocence" you'd say, in the fact that someone fell for someone they connected with once as a child. That almost doesn't exist in any kind of series/movie/drama here in the west.

The "Falling in love during life or death circumstances" scenario, however, is actually what annoys me more LOL. It's life or death! I'm focused on staying alive...ain't got time to be entertaining any ideas of romance- yet there they are. LOL that's why that route always ends up feeling forced to me. Kinda like "let's stick a li'l kiss in here...to amp up the plot"

Idk if Koreans feel the same way but that's just my opinion. So you could see a little bit of why people like me think the way we do.

Everyone is entitled to have opinion. I understand that some of the viewers may find Yeojin and Taehyun' romance forced or however you want to call it, yet I see it differently. That's what should be the best in drama, right? Freedom to interpret presented storyline any way you like. :)

Episode 9 Preview!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erK0ZaVX1tQ&feature=youtu.be&app=desktop

Text Preview

Sitting at the confession with the priest, Yeo Jin asks for forgiveness for having vengeful thoughts and hatred towards her enemies. Having spent happy days at the stream by the church, Tae Hyun brings Yeo Jin there. He confesses his love and makes a promise.

Meanwhile, Chief Lee feels that all who are involved in Yeo Jin’s death, including Nurse Hwang, will not have a happy ending. He is afraid of the danger and starts to make his own plans behind Chairman Han. (cr. mrdimples)

The first line means sth like 'If the lovers kiss here, they won't ever fall apart' and the last 'If I don't go right now, they both will die'.

So I assume he's talking about Yeojin and Sohyun, I wonder who put them in dager this time? I hope we won't have too much of noble idiocy and he'll come back soon. Or maybe the writer wants to give Yeojin one more reason to start her revenge on Oppa Han?

And this time it's Yeojin who inicates the kiss, I hope the viewers won't be 'taken by surprise' or feel the romance is 'rushed'. I hope they'll spend as much quality time together so Koreans finally get their lovestory...
