Ask A Mod Thread ~ FAQ in OP

In the past, I have faced issues with opening threads with videos that are set to premiere.

Wherever possible, I have since avoided opening threads when I know ahead of time that a video is set to premiere.

I don't want to avoid that reality anymore, so I will express my concern clearly.

---

This is an example of a video that is set to premiere on YouTube:

X8H9V2v.png

This specific video is said to premiere at 0:58 PM KST. (On my image, the time appears as 1:58 PM).

Whenever a video is set to premiere, there is a countdown which roughly goes for 120 seconds.

In this example, that means the video would start at 01:00 PM KST. That's consistent with the stated time of release (01:00 PM KST).

---

Let's say that me and another user want to open a thread for the same video in the Music section.

I will open my thread earlier (say, 15 minutes before the video is set to premiere). Meanwhile, that other user will open theirs at the stated release time.

Our threads will look exactly the same once the premiere is over.

---

The problem isn't about opening threads with premiered videos. Rather, the problem is deciding which of those threads to keep.

If it were up to me, I'd expect the thread that was opened at the stated time of release to be kept. But I've shown that doesn't necessarily happen.

Why? Because threads that are opened the earliest are usually kept; the rest are treated as "duplicates", so they are removed.

And because we know that both threads will look exactly the same, there are no chances for users to state why their thread should not have been removed.

---

I want to propose a solution.

I believe any thread with a premiered video should have more than the video itself.

So I'm thinking, where possible, there should also be a tweet from the official Twitter account in the thread. That's one way you can know if the video was ready for viewing at the time. (And usually, it will follow the stated time of release.)

I closed multiple tabs to take a screen recording today.

My computer clock is at the top right of the screen.

@2:33, I refresh my tab. It's still 1:58 PM on my computer clock and when I hover to another tab, the video has not yet started playing (see @2:51).

@4:34 That's when a tweet is sent out to say that the video is ready for viewing.

---

It seems that my thread has been kept today. But I will keep this footage available for illustrative purposes.

Hello,

I wanted to change my 'Member title'. The help section points to an item in the shop, but it seems to be missing. Is this something we can still change?

Hello it's been quite a long time since I logged back in OH but it seems like I don't own any items even though I have bought some albums way back before? Sorry I'm still confused with the new site after logging in after years.

hi, welcome back!  if you go to your profile > select “trophies & medals”, you should see your album items.  make sure to select “unhide” if that is an option ~

@Belkiss @UMJI MOODS @pluto Can you guys try accessing the forums you couldn't access before now? If still no luck, please change your theme to Minimal Vision or IPS Default and try again.

Tried these and no change. Still can't access. I should mention that I can see  individual threads from those sections if they are in latest topics or posts. Just not through the access portal for the sections.

I had that forum access issue too and what fixed it for me was deleting the internet history, including cookies 👩‍🚀

I do that multiple times a day to be safe.
