I very much appreciate your post. I was also a mod/admin before coming to OH at various other forums, and have handled users far worse than what is seen here. Anime forums are the worst

 

I do agree with some of what you said, but I would like to add that there are things that go behind the scenes that affect this situation differently. That user is not someone like you with a level head and willing to understand, or at least doesn’t appear to be from what I have seen today.

 

Could my fellow mod have handled this better? Perhaps, perhaps not. It was their problem to handle and I think they did a great job, personally. Regarding that user, there are ways to go about things. We have a warning system that gives users many many chances to stay on the right path before they are deemed unfit for this community. We are not a dictatorship, but we are also not a community without rules. That person broke a rule and there was a consequence for it.

 

Most of our user base is in their teens, so it’s expected that certain language will be used and certain phrases and memes will be popularized. However, respect is something that must always be given no matter the age. Once you cross that line, especially more than once, don't expect to be taken serious. Not only did that user disrespect other people that were contributing to the thread (and possibly other threads), that user disrespected all of us mods today too. And no, we aren't so thin skinned that we are going to cry about it to our mommies or what have you, but at the end of the day, when we are logging in and seeing messages and comments about us, talking about us in disrespecting ways when we have done nothing but enforce the rules that are in place, certain thoughts and emotions come to mind. Some of us are better at controlling those emotions, and others like me, well, its a struggle.

 

Point blank, I will not tolerate anybody, disrespecting me, or my team. Period. I will show you respect and play nice, but once you cross that line, don't expect me to stay behind it. I try to blend in with community, I’m one of the few mods that posts outside of their artists threads, because I think it’s important for regular users to see us as fans and people just like them. I try to break the mold that mods are just there for banning and deleting stuff. Because we are more than that. There is very little difference between me and the next user, aside from the fact that I can enforce a rule if its broken.

 

Perhaps some people will find my post as aggressive or w/e but you know what, we have the right to express ourselves too, when need be. And even though I wasn't directly involved in this, I take it serious.

 

 

Ahh, I understand. I wasn't trying to say that the mod was in the wrong here, because I know the only ones who knew the whole situation were the ones directly involved. Just as a mod myself I saw some actions that I knew weren't entirely appropriate for another mod to be taking. But I don't blame them. Every thing I've learned--wrong or right--is purely through experience, so I don't expect every mod to be perfect and take all the same precautions. 

 

I was a little apprehensive at first posting my post, because I know the OH mods are a little bit more expressive of their emotions, for lack of a letter word, than I'm used to, which isn't a bad thing. Keeping composure is key, yes, but you're also right in that if you, mod or not, is severely disrespected then it's only natural to lose some of it. I mean, when I was a mod of one huge forum that had a rather diverse community I had a single user fight with me so much that it gave me a panic attack before, and then they'd go around PM'ing others literally going "fuck (insert my username)". At the forum I'm currently moderating a user kept fighting with the staff in his thread, not listen to anything we were saying, and I had to lock it, only for him to complain to me in the shoutbox. I totally get the whole crossing the line thing. And I agree, some people just aren't level-headed or understanding. It's sadly a realization you gain while being a mod.

 

And yeah, honestly I feel bad for this mod team a lot because it seems as though if one mod slips up then the whole team gets witch hunted by the members. I was never one to think that any of you were thin skinned (I mean it takes a hell of a lot of thick skin to mod this forum in the first place, if anything I applaud all of your work here honestly). 

 

But anyway, I hope the initial issue has been resolved and I hope the mod originally involved is doing okay. Having so many random users bash you without even knowing the entirety of the situation really sucks. And sorry if anything I said was rude or unnecessary, my mod instincts just kinda kicked in and I wanted to help resolve the issue. It's kind of a habit I've gained after modding for so many years lol I know I'm being kind of obnoxious here, so I'm sorry.

Is there a possible to stop some users or barred them out of the 18+ thread?

 

Because i am strongly believing that some of them went over the line, even using the spoiler thing to hide their dirty, sexual fantasies about underage idols.

 

I hope the mods can do something or i will spill these to those idols via any SNS platform. Gotta let them know the ugly side of their international fans who does nothing but to do about having sdx with them 24/7. This is not a threat neither i want to see another forum site close down but you mods gotta give me a satisfying answer.

If you see a comment or thread sexualizing an underage idol please report it, and a mod will take care of the situation. There are rules in place for this, but we also don't see every comment or thread, so users reporting is a great help for a situation such as this.

It's probably due to fact that they'll takes a lot of space in the server's capacity, not to mention that we have a lot of users and if we allow it, the server can't definitely hold them, unlike threads that only contains texts. So in order to avoid clogging up the server with them, uploading them from image-hosting site is the best way. Hope that helps.
