Why do people still believe in mr removed videos?

You can't really judge whether a singer is good or bad tbh, and you will never know anyways for obvious reasons. Why do people still believe in those """"official mr removed videos"""" made by totally """""unbiased"""" people even tho we're in 2015?

I've always kinda known, but this article opened my eyes even more ->
https://kpopalypse.wordpress.com/2013/09/17/her-talents-are-huge-why-mr-videos-are-all-bullshit/

I'm just gonna quote the first part of the article

"Nevertheless, this doesn’t stop a bunch of armchair douchebags obsessing about vocal quality anyway, and one of the favourite tools that they use to pick apart vocal performance is the “MR removed†mix. This mix is created by ripping out all the backing track with audio editing software, so you can just hear (and snidely judge as if your opinion is in any way relevant) the vocals on their own. OMG THE TRUTH IS REVEALED, AMIRITE?

Well, not exactly. The problem with this is that the results are typically not indicative of the true vocal performance, or anything else for that matter, except how much time some bored Starcraft player has to fuck around with sound waveforms and make them sound like you’re listening to your neighbour’s TV set from inside a toilet bowl.

(...)

It's not just the "mr removed are bullsh*ts" thing that they say and that's it, they actually explain objectively and most importantly technically why (even if with funny stuff lmao). I think you should give it a read tbh

to be honest, i've always thought there's something wrong going on with all these mr removed videos, because, when you hear the voice, it doesn't sound real, it sounds different from the real voice, there are those bothering pauses while the performance put in the ''''''''''''''''mr removed'''''''''''''''' video, which actually shows it's really NOT true and all that is a bullshit

so what is she saying is completely right, and it was a good idea that you posted this, maybe this will wake up some people

WAKE UP WORLD

ok

That article is kind of dumb. MR makes it easier to see if someone's voice cracks or if someone is out of tune underneath their backing track, regardless of distortion induced by the removal of the backing, if you care about those things. You can also tell if someone sings really well.

Obviously you should not judge a singer's "tone" or whatever from a video where half his voice is gone, but MR removed is reasonable for other things.

when someone is out of tune, if you listen closely, you can kinda tell mr removed or not tho

yeah, but sometimes it is obscured under a ton of backing track or such, which also lets people get away with mumbling their lines. MR removed videos aren't perfect, of course, but it is not an accident that people who are good at singing generally sound solid on them, and bad singers not. If you care about someone's performance at a given event, say, MR removed can be one helpful way of finding out about it.

ofc, but at the same time, take those lives  that sound extremely perfect and you can't even hear the breath of fatigue due to dancing, but in mr removed they still sound perfect but actually they're just pre recorded vocals and people still believe it's actually "live" because "it sounds good in mr removed!!1!1!!" It goes both way, that's what i mean.
