Watching 6-10 again, they cut a lot of the first day out.  Jiwon and Seunggi went shopping too.  That's when they bought that stick, but it wasn't shown.  I hope we get to see more eventually.

OT but I want to share this, about 1N2D/NJttW members, ofc this is from 2009.

 

Kang Ho Dong:

 

 

 

 

The oldest brother Hodong has been the guide and support for the other members. On the surface, we see someone who likes to bully his dongsaengs and give out adages about life. But as we watch the show week in and week out, we discover the many layers that Hodong has.

He is the loud and animated one; never is there an episode where he isn’t full of life and craving for food. His booming voice and over the top expressions are signature Hodong traits that endear him to us. But behind that big and boisterous bear is a softy who is easily pleased and normally is the first to laugh at his dongsaeng’s antics. The younger members look up to him as their mentor and more often than not try to gain his approval. Within 1n2d, he is the father figure; he commends and disciplines the younger ones accordingly. It is not easy for a guy to handle 5 other grown men but he is able to maintain a balance of being their guide and brother.

In “quizzes†that they play, he almost always botches the answers. But his persistence and shrewdness has him as the negotiator of the group against the PDs. The same traits are also the reason why his younger brothers always attempt to trick him in games and other situations.  While yes, Hodong uses his physical advantage in intimidating his younger brothers, he is the most affectionate and often is first in giving them a hug or a kiss whenever he feels like it.

In a recent trip, we saw another side to our Papa Bear. He was quiet and restless, so unlike the lively MC we are accustomed to every week. It was a welcomed view into the momentous occasion in Hodong’s life, as we also see a different side to him, dazed, distraught and emotional to the point of tears. It’s cute to see someone who is full of confidence turn mushy when it comes to his wife and baby. And just as he’s sporting a new hairstyle and being a new father, expect exciting layers of Hodong be revealed in future episodes.

 

 

 

 

Lee Su Geun:

 

 

 

 

The smallest member with the smelliest fart is Sugeun. Unlike the other members, he had the hardest time finding his place in the show. In early episodes, we see him struggling to make a point or make the other members laugh. He was too hard on himself and felt the need to deliver the punch lines but was not successful at all times. The pressure showed when he goes on a senseless rambling. At one point, he was about to be let go but was given another chance.

To make up for his shortcomings, Sugeun proved himself to be a good and hard worker. He also became the designated driver for their trips. He’s resourceful and creative in thinking of ways to get out of situations fielded by the PDs. Although having a difficult time, he did not give up and strived to be better. And through his determination, plus the support of Hodong, the other members and the PDs, he was able to find himself, to develop confidence and finally able to show his brilliant comedic skills. Who can forget his Chinese talk imitations or his late night elderly talks with his brothers? These are classic Sugeun moments that we enjoy and always remember.

Throughout the course of the show, we also saw the development in his personal life.  Sugeun has been very candid about it.  He confessed to having a girlfriend on the show.  A few months later, he announced his upcoming wedding  and then gave us a glimpse of his wedding ceremony. He included his 1n2d family in all his special moments that even his baby’s arrival was also on the show’s filming day. Sugeun has come a long way from his struggling days and he shows his appreciation and gratefulness for his brothers’ encouragement and for the opportunities given to him by continuously learning and working hard.

Now when we watch the show, we are greeted with a Sugeun who is sure of himself, who maybe a bit gross when he farts or smells his socks, but still is one of our lovable 1n2d members. He has been rewarded greatly for his efforts with a gratifying family and career. Sugeun would reach more heights, and we look forward to reaching it with him.

 

 

 

 

Eun Ji Won:

 

 

 

 

Eun Choding. The kid. Eun Dooly. These are the many nicknames for Jiwon. Even if he is older than two of the members, he seems like the youngest amidst them. He has that refreshing trait of being carefree and straightforward which is a part of his charm. We’ve seen him sleep through a road trip and blurt out the craziest of things. That is 1n2d’s Choding.

There is something so enviable about Jiwon’s choding-ness. Like a child whose curiosity is endless, he asks the silliest of questions without an adult’s fear of being thought of as stupid. Sometimes his comments are so out of this world, you’d think is he human? But the observation of the high school student in the viewers’ trip is correct; Jiwon does have an innocent charm to him that appeals to everyone. Who wouldn’t want to laugh out loud like he does? He has such an infectious laughter that you’d hurt yourself from laughing with him.

He’s a bit naughty and loves to play jokes on his brothers. He does some very outrageous things that make his brothers wonder if he really does have an IQ of 160. Some instances, Jiwon would surprise them of his quick mind and craftiness. He whines a lot and by his own admission, confesses that although he is immature, he’d do what needs to be done. He is the most cautious among them, a testament of how weary he is of being tricked by either the other members or the PDs. But look out as he’d find some ingenious and amusing way of retaliating against them.

However childish he gets, there is also the man who is supportive of his brothers. Who would tell you how precious a dongsaeng you are to him, who would reason with Hodong about why you did something so impulsive, who would save you from sleeping outside and would fall down laughing at your jokes to make you shine. Lately we see a more mature Jiwon, like when he took care of his young team at the viewers’ trip. Mong remarked that Jiwon must have liked the pinkies a lot since his hyung was able to down what he never usually does even for himself.  This  shows a surprising part of Jiwon that is embraced wholeheartedly by everyone.

 

 

 

 

 

Lee SeungGi:

 

 

 

 

Seunggi is the adorable maknae of 1n2d. When he first came to the show, he was described as someone with a classic and sophisticated air. He shattered that image in the same episode with spacey remarks and questions. Later he was nicknamed Huh-dang for all his huh? moments. But for someone his age, his maturity is actually beyond his years. That even some of his older brothers admit that it seems like he is the hyung among them.

He had many funny moments because of his clueless-ness. And it made him more lovable and relatable to a lot people. He’s honest and outspoken, and much like Choding, his naïve comments are refreshingly funny. As he was the maknae, his hyungs paid special attention to him, especially Hodong. They indulged his whims to a certain point and fondly teased him for it. While his huh-dang character was a staple early on, it was also a given that he’ll be the first to answer correctly whenever they were given quizzes as bokbulbok. His brothers know how smart he is given his studious nature. He is first to instigate a review whenever there is a group game quiz. It’s always fun and cute to see him teaching his hyungs English or the multiplication table.

He is an idealist who honors his words and who believes in the goodness of his brothers. Whenever his brothers would team up against him and leave him behind, he’d think it was for his own good that they were doing it. And it was good for him, as he was able to explore and discover that he has the capabilities to survive by himself. Seunggi admitted that 1n2d gave him the chance to experience what he missed in his teens like camping or hanging out with friends. We see his excitement on every trip and enjoy his reactions on things he’s seeing or discovering for the first time. The show afforded him to be a child and it was fun for him. His short bursts of tantrums or irritation were fondly captured on film.  It was amusing to see that side of the gentlemanly Seunggi.

But as the year progresses, we see less of his huh-dang nature and are faced with a more grown up Seunggi. Way before he finished university, his hyungs have acknowledged the change in him.  He is now treated more like an equal as he is able to stand on his own merit. Recent episodes show him confronting his hyungs on their underhanded tricks. We may miss seeing his huh-dang days but the older Seunggi offers a lot for us to love even more. We’d just have to watch and see how he’ll greatly flourish.

So happy for my babies!!! Yes, Kang Hodong get all that love!!! He was really extra adorkable in this ep.. even with his embarrassing Zhu Bajie dance where the members are trying to stay away from him so they won't be too associated with Hodong.. LOL

 

I agree with Hodong though, being old fashioned is really his style... but I'm glad he's doing his best to blend in in this new format. I still would love to see more of Yetnal Hodong though!

 

I love that DangDing brothers are extra cruel now... with this internet format Seunggi is becoming more unstoppable and it doesn't help that he's with Eun Choding who always has out of this world ideas.

I'm glad we have 5 additional episodes to watch their chemistry, them having fun and bonding. I'm sad some scenes are edited out. No matter what the scene is we just couldn't get enough. I want to see the 24/7 recording *stalker alert*. I hope, like the over Flowers series, we'll get some deleted/B-sides after.

 

We already got 17million for 10 episodes. Looks like the pace is faster. We got viewers who still watch ep1 to 5 too. With this pace definitely will break 20million for the episodes this week

'New Journey to the West’ exceeds 20 million views

 

“New Journey to the West,†an online travelogue program from cable channel tvN, attracted more than 20 million combined views online with its trailer and first episode, Naver said Saturday.

 

Naver, the country’s biggest portal website, hosts the online-only program in its TV cast section.

The program’s episodes, up to 10 minutes each, were most watched between noon and 1 p.m. As for the platforms, viewers watched the program more on mobile devices than on desktop computers.

 

The trailer scored 5.2 million views, while the first episode raked in 15.5 million views. 

 

As at least 10 more episodes are lined up for airtime, the total viewership is expected to top 30 million soon.
