2PM Extends Their Contract With JYPE For An Additional 3 Years

Instead of expiring in 2015, their contracts are set to expire by 2018 (though I'm sure they'll be serving in the military by then)

I can't say iIm really that surprised considering they bring in 79% of JYPE's income at this point comes from 2pm. Thus, adding another 3 years gives them more time to come up with a new bread winner (or possibly better management for all) as they leave for the military.

But, I don't know how to feel about this personally

I don't see how this isn't good for 2PM?

JYPE divides the money well, everyone knows that - so 2PM are getting what they deserve.

JYPE does give each individual member the freedom to venture into their own personal interests with time - with solos, musicals and/or acting gigs coming out from each of them these days. I'm sure they'll keep on doing personal activities from time to time.

While JYPE sucks at promotions, 2PM are still selling like hot pancakes.

All in all, I see nothing wrong.

Am I missing something here?

EDIT: In fact, with JYPE acting department on a roll these days, it's great for members like Junho, Taec and Chansung.

i know many khottests aren't happy just for the fact they can't stand the company for all their mishaps and such with 2pm. Me personally, I'm not a big fan of JYPE as a company given the way they usually handle things. But, who knows, it seems like for the second half of the year so far, they've been doing okay, so if they improve then it'll be a great then for all.

watch them become the male wonder girls.... feel sorry for 2pm.

(not out of hate, legit feel sorry for them. jyp whuttaaa u doing?)

What?

2PM are holding huge tours bringing in money. And members have big acting/CF deals too.

Unlike Wonder Girls who never made any really big money.

EDIT:

PS, source for pic in OP is from here: http://kind.krx.co.kr/common/disclsviewer.do?method=search&acptno=20130823000228&docno=20130823000591&viewerhost=&viewerport=

And it's also stated contract terms for artists under the public JYP company there.

For example:

Baek Ah Yeon signed a 7 year contract until September 2019.

The 2 girls in 15& also signed 7 year deals ending during 2019.

Suzy and Min have contracts until April 2017 while Fei and Jia have shorter contracts which end in May 2016.

So JYP's going to act on a whim and try to crack the American music industry with 2PM, causing them to pay little to no attention to Korea?

...as in watch them become irrelevant due to jype's shitty management and marketing. no one in korea cares about them anymore.

2pm has a big fandom which will help sustain money, but relevancy wise, infinite and even exo is catching up/surpassing them.

Why would you feel sorry for 2PM?

And stop making WG seem like they lost some of their vital organs or something..

2PM know what they want and compare to JYPE other artist, 2PM is one of their group that dare to open up with their opinion and they will not do what they feel will make them suffer.... :)

Still though i don't see it turning into a Wonder girls situation as they bring in 79% of JYPE's profits, even if they aren't doing as well digitally and what not in Korea. Infinite and EXO and this point may outsell them digitally and physically, but 2pm already brought in 10 million USD for JYPE for the first half of 2013, so they ain't hurting. If they keep a steady momentum going in japan, overseas, acting and keep releasing music in korea and holding concerts, they'll be fine.

I wonder why their contract is longer?

Anyway happy for 2pm it's what they wanted obviously.

Anyway, I really hope JYPE people know what they're doing and manage 2PM well. They're doing good in Japan and China, but their promotion in Korea sucks and is awfully short. They still don't have their own world tour even though Khun promised they would have one in 2012...

i'm going to guess it's likely that their next tour will be "global" due to the fact that What Time Is It Tour was initially suppose to be a global tour but for obvious reasons was cut down to an Asian tour. The question is, what will be JYPE's definition of a global tour
