Do you think fans sometimes overreact about the racist thing?

rap mon knows better

taemins/luhan "i like pale girls" was such an over reaction

kai "n*gga" ignorance and stupid

GOT7 want to be known as "Black Kids" also ignorance

I'm not saying this as a kai fan but Kai didn't say it it was his friend. The friend said "America" and then the nword to describe Kai. The voices are totally different after Kai spoke.

Rapmons joke is so confusing to me I just...

I don't think he's racist but that joke was ignorant as hell..I was just surprised he used the English term black and not dark...

I think people have the right to be upset about it though

I think the luhan taemin part is overreacting but Wendy imitation is ignorant as fuck and what taeyeon said about Alicia Keys was straight up racist and I can't believe some sones still shield that

Edit : for brainwashed scones ^^

To protect her ksones said she used the word “friend†친구 in Korean but it is not true. She used the word 치곤 = for a

She really said “She is really pretty for a black person†: “í‘ì¸ì¹˜ê³¤ ì •ë§ ë„ˆë¬´ 예ì˜ì£ â€ in korean. Wrote this sentence and you will see a lot of post about Taeyeon/Alicia Keys.

it's ok to admit that your bias fucked up you know

Racist issues have to be taken very seriously because it's offensive and a direct insult to people. The fans overreact because it's not right. If they didn't mean to offend anyone, then they should be careful with their words.

I feel like people in general are so quick to call racism these days, even when it's not actually racism smh

On one hand, I think a lot of people blow up issues not because they care about the issue in question, but because they want to bash a celebrity they don't like and prop up their own bias. As a black kpop fan, I often feel that some of the outrage non-black fans express over "racism" is disingenuous. I see a lot of the same people bash certain celebs to high heavens for "racism", then turn around and stan for other idols who have said or done things just as bad if not worse. To me that says they don't really care about black people. They just want to shit on someone's fave and hide behind "they're racist" as an excuse, and that's not okay with me. A lot of the "_______ is problematic and here's why" discourse feels more like an exercise in smugness than a genuine discussion of any real issues.

I also think that it's important to remember that everyone, including, idols, didn't always know what they know now. I don't think it's fair to hold some things that someone said on one occasion 5, 6, or 7+ years ago against them. If you're so anti-racist and out to change people's minds, how can you be unwilling to accept that someone's mind has changed?

We need to understand that we are fans relying on translated content coming from a foreign culture that most of us don't and never will fully comprehend. We need to understand that idols are fallible human beings who are products of their culture too - just because they sing and dance and look cute doesn't mean they're shining paragons of everything right with the world. We need to understand that you can talk about the problematic things someone has done without resorting to "______ is the WORST kind of shit trash ever!!! they are racist!!!!"

That said, it's very important to recognize racism and talk about it. I hate when people say "you're just being too sensitive". We need to always talk about it. But the overzealous tumblr culture has unfortunately seeped into many fandoms and ruined the way the internet talks about it. :\

Yes. Sometimes they are right but sometimes ifans just shout racism for the sake of being rightful/good/upright

Yes because some people are ignorant to the ramifications of certain words and the connotations they hold..but that is in no way justification to promote bullying towards that person/fighting back with racism. I'm sorry but the amount of shit people on Twitter are sending towards him is becoming embarrassing, and they're pulling focus away from the original comment, to the point where people are confused as to what he actually did wrong. He said something dumb, and yes he isn't as knowledgable on that kind of thing, because social/racial issues aren't as openly discussed in Korea as they are here in the west...so try to at least try and take that into account.

And let's be real, he could apologise and they still would still find something to complain about.

Talking about Rap Monster btw.

Everything you said was on point. Like w/ RapMon issue it seem that the majority of people in that thread was taking the time to bash his looks instead of talk abt how he messed up.
