Post offices are set to start selling stamp collections today that depict the concerts of Jody Chiang (江蕙) as the Taiwanese diva prepares to launch a series of farewell concerts next week, Chunghwa Post said yesterday.

Chiang has dominated the entertainment industry for four decades, the postal company said, adding that she won the Golden Melody Award for the best female singer of Hoklo (also known as Taiwanese) songs four years in a row from 2000 to 2003.

Beyond the many Golden Melody awards she has won, the 53-year-old performer has set many records, the company said.

Her 1992 album The Words Spoken After One is Drunk (酒後的心è²) became the nation’s only album of Hoklo songs to sell more than 1 million copies. She was also invited to sing the Hoklo song Flowers in a Rainy Night (雨夜花) with Spanish tenor Placido Domingo in 2002.

The special stamp collection was made using photographs taken at Chiang’s concerts since 2008, with the aim of providing fans with commemorative items to remember the singer, Chunghwa Post said.

Fans who buy the collection before Monday next week can send an enclosed postcard to enter a lottery, with the top prize being a ticket to one of Chiang’s last concerts.

The name of the top-prize winner is to be announced on July 28 on the organizer’s Web site: www.my-card.com.tw/.

In January, Chiang announced that she would retire this year after a string of 26 concerts.

The shows are set to begin on Saturday next week.

She said that she wanted to “leave her fans with her best-ever performances and then exit the limelight.â€

Her tickets are really hard to get since this is going to be her last concert there are a lot of people fighting for her tickets.

Is there anyone on OH going to her concert?

I wish I could get her stamp collections.
