How do you define being a "friend"?

Recommended Posts

For a friend they should be there for you and you should be there for them even in difficult times. If they do something you think is wrong then you tell them and vice versa. Of course you should like each other and care about each other, be comfortable around each other, and so on as well.

Someone whose presence you enjoy, whom you can discuss freely about everything, so you are not afraid of telling them about your feelings, thoughts, even more intimate things and have comfortable silence in conversations.

Also a friend is one that tells you when you were wrong and helps you to get your shit together. And be as available as possible for you.

Honestly, there aren't much persons like that in my life.

If I can stand them, whether it is their humour or attitude, and I can picture myself being able to create good memories with them, then I would consider them as a friend.

I don't expect too much from people because they also have their own lives to live. If they make time out of their busy schedules to keep our relationship ticking, then that is all that matters. Those who won't even put an ounce of effort into making things work are automatically Ignored.

I'm not too strict though. I won't hold grudges. Especially if we have the same circle of friends, and from time to time we bump into one another. I'll even strike a conversation with them. But, at the end of the day, we'll just go our separate ways.

A friend is someone that I can trust with all my feelings. Someone I can go to when I need help or simply someone to talk too.

I consider people friends that I can joke and laugh with ,without holding back anything from my personalty.

My friends are people that accept me the way I am and make me feel comfortable in their presence.

Sometimes I feel like some of my friends don't really have my back...

How do you guys decide whether someone is your friend or not? What do you think your responsibilities and obligations are as a "friend"?

a friend is someone i can talk to comfortably without caring if they'd think i was weird or smth

someone who cares about me and i care about them equally and someone i can share interests with

I don't know really, I figure it's someone I talk to often and can joke around with comfortably. Being able to be honest with them about my opinions is a plus too.

There are different lvls of friend, like someone else said.

I wouldn't rant about my life problems to any random friend, you know?

Basically someone who doesn't talk shit about their friends with others. If they have issues, you hear them out and give advice where necessary. Being honest and encouraging. Someone you are comfortable with, and is there for you.

Honestly, its quite rare to find a friend like that these days... most are either too jealous/insecure or totally two faced.

I think a friend is someone you can get along and feel comfortable around being yourself. Then you would need time in order to know each other better and develop your relationship with them, so you could say a friend is someone you have and intimacy relation.

As for 'responsibilities' I think that is up to each but if you're really good friends the normal would be for both of you to stick around in good and bad times.
