South Korea provides fastest Internet on the planet at the speed of 14.2 megabytes per second, followed by Japan, Hong Kong and Switzerland. The United States surprisingly finishes at No. 9 with speed of 8.6 megabytes per second in the Top 10 list in Q1 of 2013.

South Korea's Internet speed is 65% faster on average than speeds in the U.S.

Internet connection speed across different countries is measured by the average peak connection speed. Different countries have different capacities in communication cables and high speed fibres.

Switzerland: This country has one of the highest broadband and internet penetration rates in the continent. ADSL and VDSL connections are very popular in this country but businesses most rely on the satellite and xDSL connections as they are very affordable.
