Ji Chang Wook and Shim Eun Kyung to Star Together in New Crime-Action Film

Actor Ji Chang Wook and actress Shim Eun Kyung have landed the lead roles for an upcoming crime-action movie called “Manipulated City (working title).â€

This film centers around a guy named Kwon Yoo who is falsely charged with murder and tries to dig for the truth in the manipulated case. He is the leader of Team Resurrection in a fantasy game world but is nothing but an unemployed man in reality. He is later blamed for someone else’s murder and his life takes a complete turn.

Shim Eun Kyung will play the role of genius hacker Yeo Wool working together with Kwon Yoo on the case.

Director Park Kwang Hyun showed perfect casting in his 2005 movie “Welcome to Baekmagol†which drew close to 8 million moviegoers. In “Fabricated Cityâ€, with a line-up comprising of Ji Chang Wook, Shim Eun Kyung, Oh Jung Se, Kim Sang Ho, Kim Ki Chon, Ahn Jae Hong, Kim Min Kyo and more, he rounds up a cast that is refreshing with individuals who possess their own unique abilities.

 

Ji Chang Wook, who has become a star not just locally but also in Asia through the drama “Empress Kiâ€, plays Kwon Yoo, a great leader of Team Resurrection in the online gaming world who is actually an insignificant unemployed man in reality.

Starring as Kwon Yoo who slowly changes after he is set up as a murderer by someone, Ji Chang Wook will be stripped off his chic and modern city look to show a different image of himself, including the natural look of an ordinary man in his twenties with a rough energy.

 

Shim Eun Kyung, who has drawn as many as 8.65 million viewers in the movies “Sunny†and “Masqueradeâ€, will be playing the role of genius hacker Yeo Wool who works with Kwon Yoo to uncover the truth of the case. Shim Eun Kyung is expected to show wonderful chemistry with Ji Chang Wook in the role of Yeo Wool, who possesses great initiative like no other and genius hacking skills.

Their first filming that took place in Ulsan, Seoul on 1st July began with a scene depicting the daily life of Kwon Yoo, who may be a respected leader in the online gaming world, but settles his meals with cup noodles in the PC bang (*known as “internet cafe†in English).

 

Moving away from his current refined image, Ji Chang Wook, who has transformed into the ordinary appearance of a guy in his twenties, led the filming at the set with passion. Shim Eun Kyung, who is playing Yeo Wool, came to the filming location even though she had no scenes to film, bringing more warmth to the atmosphere.

 

Ji Chang Wook spoke about his first filming, “I filmed with an excited heart and complicated mix of feelings filled with nervousness, excitement and anticipation. I’m confident that this show will be a very interesting one, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the filming.â€

 

Director Park Kwang Hyun said, “I was really looking forward to working with actors who will portray their characters exactly as how I imagined them to be while writing the scenario, and the feeling at the first filming was very good. We will work hard to film in order to produce a good movie.â€

 

“Fabricated City†is expected to open in cinemas next year.
