Honestly, the people pressed about the wait for him to debut & saying that he's wasted his time just annoy me. He didn't spend three years doing nothing - he's built up quite a lot to his name before his debut, from acting roles to CFs to OSTs, so I don't get what they're so upset about, but then again, who knows if they're really fans or not, right? 

 

After the wait, I really have to say that he's proven a lot in terms of his talent. He can dance, he can sing various things, he can play the guitar, and he can act passably. He's very much an all around talent now, and after all the time that's passed, has proven that he's got more to show than being just a fulfillment of the "cute boy with the guitar" artist stereotype.

Honestly, the people pressed about the wait for him to debut & saying that he's wasted his time just annoy me. I also felt sad reading nega comments of KSY's debut. I mean, the song's reaaaaaaally good and he's sooooo charming I can't help but smile.  I even let my colleague listen to Wild & Young. She's not even a Kpop fan and she said it has a cool beat, made her want to dance. We were fangirling after... hihihi. XD

 

He hasn't shown the full result of his training yet... And I'm freakin' looking forward to see them. ^______^

I actually think YG is managing KSY's debut pretty well, the style of the song fits him and the MV is gorgeous. Also, he will release two more singles. So I am satisfied. The only thing that worries me is the boy group, their music style and if being in a boy group will affect KSY. I have also been a fan of Lee Seung Hoon since his Kpop Star days, so I really want them to have good music.

Nice! I showed my sister the video. After 50 second, she said that the song was good, but that she felt that she heard a similar song somewhere else. Then, she left and did not even finish watching the MV.

Why did Kang Seung Yoon once regret joining YG Entertainment?

 

Kang Seung Yoon honestly confessed that there was once a moment when he regretted joining YG Entertainment.

 

On the August 6th broadcast of MBC FM4U's 'Songs of Hope at Noon Kim Shin Young', Kang Seung Yoon shared during the speed question game that there was once a time when he wondered if he made the right decision.

The rookie quickly explained, "During the early stage of my training, I couldn't dance well so it was hard for me to go through dance practice. Because I had dreamed of becoming a rocker, I experienced some confusion about my identity. However besides that time, I've been satisfied with everything else," assuring fans that he's quite happy to call YGE his home. 

 

Like his fellow new YGE artists, Kang Seung Yoon also answered the customary question of whom he considers the most scary in the agency. His answer may or may not surprise fans as he picked none other than Seungri of Big Bang! "I am most scared of Seungri. He comes up to hoobaes first and gives them a lot of advice. He tells me to work hard but he jokes around a lot too...Tablo is especially a sunbaenim whom I respect, and he gives me a lot of advice on my music. He treats me the best in the agency."

 

It seems like Kang Seung Yoon never expected himself to be dancing on stage as part of an idol group either like many fans. However, thanks to his solo promotions in addition to his upcoming promotions as part of one of the new boy groups, it seems we'll get the best of both worlds as we see his various sides.

Wouldn’t you know it, YG was late at releasing the “Wild and Young†MV, but hey, at least there was a pre-release single, “It Rains.â€

Kang Seung-yoon has recently released his first MV, “Wild and Young.†For those not in the know, back in 2010 he was a contestant in Superstar K2 where he finished in 4th place. A couple of months later, he signed on to YG who released a statement saying that he would be debuting in a group sometime in 2012.

 

2012 came and went — no boy group debut.

 

That has recently changed with YG releasing news that there would be a reality program, WIN, which would feature two competing trainee groups to debut as YG’s newest boy group, WINNER. Kang Seung-yoon is part of Team A (along with Lee Seung-yoon of K-pop Star 2) and YG has recently released a video of Team A dancing to I.aM.mE’s choreography.

 

While July has come and went without any mention of the promised reality program, YG has released Kang Seung-yoon’s debut MV, the first of three singles for his mini-album.

 

Let’s start it off with the positives of “Wild and Young.†It was youthful, but not the aegyo youthful we often see in K-pop. There was nice use of scenery which was appropriate for the time of the year. Furthermore, the youthful feel of the MV was in line with the youthful theme of the song. It is a rock song and is all about the rush and adrenaline one feels when one falls in love. An especially memorable part is when he sings the pre-chorus and the last portion of the song — his voice sounds absolutely perfect.

 

The MV has scenes of Kang Seung-yoon and friends on a joyride, at a campfire by the beach, riding bicycles and skateboards and the like. A further plus is that there are actual females in the MV and Kang Seung-Yoon is having some interaction with one: from his arm slung over her shoulder, playing bubbles with her and just sitting next to her.

 

Considering he is part of the 94-line, it was very fitting  that the MV was tied in together with the central theme of young love and being spontaneous.

 

 

 

What about the negatives though? While it is overall a very nice MV, it isn’t particularly memorable considering it is his debut MV. The scenery was great and the way the scenes of him rocking out were interwoven with everything else was seamless. It checks off all the boxes one looks for in a great MV — cinematography, fashion, the correlation of the lyrics and the MV. The problem is there is a certain je ne sais quoi missing in the MV.

 

And this problem is not only in the MV but also in the song. This was not a song worth waiting three years for. After three years of training, his technique may have improved slightly, but the song is still of the same level as what he has done in Superstar K2.

This is disappointing especially after “It Rains,†which I feel had the potential for a great MV. It was a song that was memorable, evoked an emotional reaction from listeners and made the perfect use of his voice. With “Wild and Young,†it sounds as if he was straining at certain lines, though I am perfectly aware it is a technique commonly used in rock songs. After “It Rains,†“Wild and Young†sounded as if it was a song cut from the Shut Up Flower Boy Band OST.

 

He may deserve a better song but he still rocked his live stage. I would personally prefer to watch his

for the je ne sais quoi missing in the MV is definitely more present in his live performances. Nonetheless, the youthful MV was still a good watch with a song perfect for summertime road trips to match it. Kang Seung-yoon’s “Wild and Young†MV earns a 3.2/5.

That clumsy dancer KANG SEUNG YOON returns as a hip-hop warrior soon. In the YG-held audition of new groups, KANG SEUNG YOON gives a dance battle a go. So what does this newly born artist look like now?

 

YG, for the first time on August 2, revealed video clip of its first new boy group in 7 years since BIGBANG’s debut. In the video clip, KANG SEUNG YOON, the ex-contestant of Super Star K who made a remarkable debut this summer, and LEE SEUNG HOON, SBS’s K-Pop Star’s clown, practice a dance move together. They are part of Group A.

 

The news of the two being paired up for YG’s new boy group audition spread fast in the music world. KANG SEUNG YOON in particular is arousing much interest with his powerful dance moves because he was known for his clumsy dance skills.

 

YG’s CEO, YANG HYUN SUK, once mentioned in FROM YG at the end of June, “Have you ever imagined KANG SEUNG YOON with perfect dance moves? Have you ever imagined him dancing along a powerful hip-hop beat with other team members?†His comment on the artist in veil for 3 years heightened the excitement for the awaiting fans.

 

CEO YANG also announced his plans to have a battle on a real survival program dubbed ‘WIN’ among “YG’s long-time trainee boys who are divided into Groups A and Bâ€. The teaser video clip of Group A that was released shows the process of the survival program.

 

 

In an interview, KANG SEUNG YOON once said that he cried because he felt extremely left behind among his peers who were amazingly great dancers. He recalled, “right after we started dance practice I felt this wall standing high over me. I was so stressed I went back to the dorm and cried on the balcony looking at the sky.â€

 

“I never learned how to dance. I learned a bit about television dance for an audition program, but I had no knowledge of what I had to do. And since my coach wanted me to improve quickly, he talked me down in front of everyone with an intention to make me improve quickly. After all the harsh comment I would go back to the room and cry. That went on for days.â€

 

But he weathered such hardship and fear with consistent practice. “When I look at my coach dance, I can understand it with my head but my body wouldn’t follow. My pride was deeply hurt and I felt small. But amazingly, what I did actually started to pay off. After 5 months of training my coach acknowledged my skills and I was over the moon.â€

 

In fact the video of YG’s new group practicing dance moves reveals KANG SEUNG YOON’s surprisingly improved dance skills, which aroused much excitement among the fans. All eyes are on the newly born artist to see how his newly embellished dance skills will lead to a success story.
