If he's doing a duet it needs to be a high profile one to be any help. Eunji is the only high profile female in Cube aside from Hyuna (but thats gonna turn into another TM which is no good). I would love the idea of NJH x G.Na, maybe if G.Na comeback with a ballad, does well and regains her status it would be successful

Didn't a rapper feature for his single last year... I didn't like the rap part in "A Song for You" (?) though. I thought Junhyung could have been a better choice if they needed a rapper with that ballad but maybe I'm just biased...  :derp:

It's pretty clear Cube created Apink. It isn't a coincidence that all the members of Apink except Eunji who joined a few months before Apink's debut appeared together in BEAST MVs especially Naeun who played the lead in Breath, Beautiful, and I Like You The Best . All labels get their new groups some exposure before they debut them by putting them in their other artist's MVs. Cube even announced Naeun was the first trainee for its new girl group in Feb 2011. This clearly shows that Cube had been preparing for a girl group to debut. Most importantly Kikwang appeared in Apink's debut MV I Don't Know. That didn't happen by accident. Cube was using Kikwang's popularity to get Apink's name out to his fans and BEAST fans. Cube just chose to make a sub label to manage Apink just like how JYP recently made Studio J to manage G.Soul instead of putting him under JYP. The CEO Hong and JYP business is completely different. CEO Hong left JYP and started Cube. JYP never owned Cube or had anything to do with it. And the name Acube itself should tell you it is owned by Cube just like Cube owns Cube DC, which became 100% stock owned by Cube after the merging not before it. It isn't a coincidence that both sub labels contain Cube in it to show its connection to the mother company. Now I don't know if over the years CEO Choi bought all the stocks in Acube from Cube or not if Cube had in the first place be willing to sell it. That is a different story and I think we would've heard of that. I guess we'll find out on April 9.

what i meant is Apink is a group created with CEO Choi's ideas, not CEO Hong or others

at that time he was still the top exceutive in CUBE,probably the person with most saying power in CUBE after CEO Hong,he was the main reason Beast was heavily promoted in their first year

he might have already had a plan to create his agency,Apink is his first girl group

of course CUBE used Beast to help promote Apink since CEO Choi was in charge of Beast's promotion in their early career

i mean why is there a different CEO and management of ACUBE if it is strictly under CUBE,and it was not the same thing as CUBE DC?

CUBE obviously doesnt have full control power in ACUBE since the start

JYPE never owned CUBE but they worked together to produce 2AM,CUBE handled 2AM's early promotion

CUBE DC was always 100% stock owned by CUBE,it didnt change anything at all before and after the merger honestly

i guess we will find it out soon

all the stuff i read are from Chinese CUBE fansite which is run by a fan who has connections with CUBE staff/other entertainment insider

i would appreciate if someone can help the translation

I would still think Cube owns more than 50% stock or if not larger in Acube since Cube does own it. Just like how Cube DC was built to handle BTOB before change of plans right before their debut, Acube was made to handle Apink, a group which Cube made. I think Cube just has a lot to handle in BEAST, 4minute, BTOB, and their solo artists with limited cash flow so they don't want to hurt Apink in the process and leave Acube to handle Apink. Cube wouldn't have put in so much money and time in making Apink to put them under a company where they don't own most of the stocks and be the one who profits the most from it especially a small company like Cube who doesn't have money to waste.

Given that Cube is not public yet, remember that it is private entities that own Cube right now. I wouldn't be surprised if those same private entities have a big share of ACube as well, so in that sense Cube owns it (both companies make the owners money, so there is incentive for both to do well and gain profit).

Once it does goes public however, Cube may not have anything to do with Acube and Apink officially, at least on the management and on the financial side. You can already feel that there is some distancing that is going on. Cube's future investors will likely be unable to touch Acube's financials, but that doesn't mean that they have no control over what goes on at Acube. Even after going public, you can expect those same private entities as before to still have a significant number of shares in Cube (and keep their shares of Acube) so they can unofficially influence things going on at both companies.

When Apink wins awards, they usually make the distinction between Representative Choi and CEO/President Hong though. Clearly Hong still wields a lot of influence.

there was a rumor(back when Eunji holding fansigns in Busan, and iHQ staff came with her) of iHQ buying the remaining stocks of ACUBE to become biggest shareholder

so it will make ACUBE another subsidiary under the biggest tree(iHQ)

it would probably mean the position of CUBE and ACUBE is same to each other

CUBE cannot control things in ACUBE and vice versa

imo Apink still refers to CEO Hong in their thank you speech is more of respect to their biggest Papa, who trained them up and now very sick

What's the difference between a representative and a ceo?

representative is just a representative,to represent the company i guess(?)

CEO is biggest person in a company, besides president

either way,CEO Choi is always the CEO of ACUBE,not just a representative

i guess Apink refers CEO Choi to be a representative in CUBE

since they probably still see themselves as part of CUBE

Cube Entertainment which will be listed in coming April, was founded in 2008 August. Under its management, Cube Entertainment houses female group 4minute, male group BEAST, BTOB , female soloist G.NA and male soloist Rain.

In order to enter the market, Cube Entertainment will be partnering up with a few Chinese local management companies. Unlike other entertainments that established subsidiaries in China, Cube Entertainment took a slightly different path by cooperating with local management entertainment businesses, of which the income generated from albums, concerts or appearances on broadcast will be shared among partners. Park ChungMin elaborated, “In China, it’s not easy to select an entertainment agency that are specialised in managing artists, unlike in Korea or Japan. We are currently discussing with 2 to 3 potential Chinese partners that are carrying out management or contents business. By this year, we will be able to formalize the contract and then advance into China.â€

Apart from the Chinese market, Cube Entertainment is in to strengthen its financial aspects through income generated from Japan. In particular, Cube’s representative group BEAST signed a three years contract with  Hakuhodo DY Media Partners which is a subsidiary of Japan’s largest advertising company, Hakuhodo DY Group, thus, showing potential success in Japan. CEO Park continued, “We witnessed BEAST’s potential to succeed in Japan via our relationship with Hakuhodo. We are even more looking forward to income generated from releases of album and concerts in Japan.†He followed, “BEAST have been resting from world tour since 2 years ago. There are plans for world tour again this year. BEAST are also preparing for a concert in Tokyo Dom in early 2016.†Other than BEAST, BTOB, too have confirmed the release of a new album through a local Japanese entertainment company.

This year, Cube Entertainment will shown their earnest determination in scouting talents around South East Asia. Upcoming 5-members female group ‘CLC’ will be debuting with a Thai trainee. CEO Park introduced, “We cooperated with CJ E&M’s overseas subsidiaries, tvN, and Fox International Channel for audition program ‘KPOP Star Hunt’. Sorn, a Thai girl who was crowned first will be debuting as a member of CLC. CLC will be a girl group we will introduce 5 years after 4minute’s debut.â€

The capital funded from the listing exercise will be used in developing rookies and to invest in practice facilities. CEO Park explained, “We will enhance the training systems for our trainees and existing artists, as well as to add a few practice rooms with the funds. In particular, we will allocate additional funds for our scouting team who has been diligently scouting foreign trainees.†Cube Entertainment currently has 5 foreign trainees from China, Thailand and more. They are currently scouting for talents especially in the South East Asia, like Thailand, where the KPOP wave is popular. And the operations are expected to expand (with the funds).

1. Cube Entertainment has filed a notification to the Securities Commission in regards to its merger with WooriSpac2.
2. The resolution is to be approved in the coming general meeting with shareholders on 26th February.
3. The merger date would be on 30 March.
4. The listing date would be on 9 April.
5. Capital injection of 2.5b Won and market capitalisation of 57.7b Won are estimated after listed on the stock exchange.
6. Cube Entertainment’s main shareholder remains with iHQ with a shareholdings of 50.01%.
7. Cube Entertainment’s accumulated operating profit up to 3rd quarter in 2014 was 1.8b Won. Revenue at 14.2b Won and Net profit at 1.3b Won.
