Apparently, the group M4M where member Fang Yilun acted as Ye Jiangfan in (the drama) «â€Unique Flower Boysâ€Â» is currently in the middle of trying to terminate their contract with their company (t/n: I believe the company they are talking about is 星天/Starry Sky and not CUBE). Different than Han Geng and Wu Yifan (Kris), this time Fang Yilun is not terminating the contract by himself, but all four members of the group are trying to terminate the contract with the company. 

 

The reporter is aware that the group M4M was created in Korea last March, captured attention in the beginning, and came back (to China) to further develop. Recently, the member Fang Yilun gained a lot of attention as the character Ye Jiangfan in the Hunan TV super powers drama «â€Unique Flower Boysâ€Â». Once the situation with terminating the contract exploded on Weibo, there were tons of responses from netizens. Some scream disbelief, some support their idols’ choice, and some even yelled out the phrase “M4M terminate contract but not disbandâ€.

For now, the artists and the company both did not respond to this matter. But the reporter found out that this case is already accepted by China Court in Xicheng District, Beijing, and assessed for the first time in a court session not long ago. The reason(s) for terminating the contract and the development of the case will continue to be followed.

The chairman of Cube Entertainment, Hong Seung Sung, has received a presidential commendation at the 2014 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards!On November 17th at the 2014 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards held at Hongik University, CEO Hong Seung Sung, along with other famous individuals such as producer Kim Young Hee, composer Yoo Young Jin, and the late artist Kim Kwang Suk, all received a presidential commendation award.

Chairman Hong Seung Sung began thanking his many supporters for helping him receive such an honorable award, â€œI would like to share this honor and glory with the many people around the world who love K-Pop and who show support for the artists that they sing and dance along to. And even at this very moment, my artists are working hard and sweating on stage somewhere out there, and I would like to send them my utmost gratitude and applause. Hong Seung Sung is most notable for his years of experience within the entertainment industry management where he first began as an artist’s manager. CEO Hong Seung Sung spent that last 20 to 30 years climbing up to various positions within entertainment agencies, once even being the chairman of Cube Entertainment’s sister agency, JYP Entertainment.

ECTV are the video links above. It was back in 2011 and broadcast in Japan. Only Beast, 4Minute, and G.NA were under Cube directly at the time. UCTV is what Cube started releasing on their YouTube channel this year but its not the same format.

Not going to lie my mind did think to Beast when I saw that post only because the mention of a big company without past contract issues but if you think about it, it wouldn't make sense. I recall an interview where someone asked Junhyung about running his own company in the future. He said its definitely crossed his mind but he wants to focus on building up the Cube brand. Maybe its the delusional Cube fan in me but I feel like out of so many companies out there, Cube artists have the biggest loyalty to their company. Cube doesn't disciple them for openly taking jabs about lack of promotions sometimes. There's a healthy relationship where their opinions are taken into consideration. Whatever fans think about Cube as a company, the artists always swear by Hong Seung Sung who everyone considers a second father.

I don't think Cube will debut a boy group this year. A Cube might but the one idol group is A Pink and Huh Gak barely needs promotions. I know A Cube has held their own auditions but I'm sure its highly possible they pull trainees from Cube as well. I think this would be the best scenario for any boy group because A Cube would just have to focus on them and Cube can promote their already existing artists.

Tiger JK revealed what he felt working with BEAST’s Yong Junhyung.

On the 18th, Tiger JK met with the reporters and praised Yong Junhyung on the ‘Let It Go’  featuring that he collaborated on with MFBTY.

Tiger JK said, “Working with BEAST Yong Junhyung, there were a lot of preconceived notions. Ours is an album on reinterpreting K-POP but we received a lot of questions on why we were working with idol rappers. On SNS too when asked if we couldn’t work together, we received a lot of feedback saying “the level is differentâ€. We wanted to tear down that wall and try doing something fun together.â€

   

He added, “We looked for people who wrote and do music so we went to ask (for collaborations). (Junhyung) pondered over it for about 20 days. He broke the preconceived notions/prejudices that we had. We saw sides of him that reinterpreted songs a different way and he kept asking “How would it be if we did it this way?â€, he gave his opinion and it was enjoyable working on something that people didn’t expect.â€

He also said, “There are many people we have featured but he (Junhyung) helped and advised us a lot. The original ‘Let It Go’ didn’t sound like this but because of his direction and sense, a fresh and different song was born,†showing his satisfaction.

Beast's Interview for Beast Music

 

Doojoon: We have debuted for 5 years in Korea and 4 years in Japan. Because we're Korean, so fans despite (living elsewhere) always look for us, or sometimes couldn't even see us, so we think a lot about it as to how to express ourselves. As such, starting from March, we hope to release a track every month, as present. This is not an easy thing to do. But having to have an independent label and all, I see this as a turning point to be closer with fans.

Junhyung: In 2015, we hope that we can invest more time to meet up with fans. I hope that many fans will enjoy the songs we will be releasing every month.

Kikwang: Kikwang desu. First of all, it's really fluttering. And that we have our own label, it felt like we have become owners and have become even more responsible. Although we have been working our best in Japan, it felt like we have to work at another level of diligence in the future too.

Hyunseung: Every year, we meet fans through mini albums or full length albums. But now that we are releasing a song per month, I think that fans may like it more. I, too, think that this is a very exciting and fun plan to go with, so I'm looking forward to it too.

Yoseob: We do feel the pressure, but as we start our label. (ask dongwoon) Laberu? *pronunciation check!* (dongwoon nods)... our label, so we're happy too.

Q: Please describe 'ONE'
Junhyung: Our very first song 'ONE' is a very trendy and hip hop song. And through the lyrics, you will listen to our persistent mindset, and thus, gaining energy from the song. Therefore, we have chosen 'ONE' to be our very first track. We hope that fans will love it.

Q: What do you think changed the most?
Yoseob: Because of our label, we have learned Japanese. We will learn harder.
Kikwang: Previously, I have shot for a male's magazine.. So I have maintained my health and have come to Japan with a very healthy body.

Q: What are you doing recently?
Dongwoon: Recently, I'm studying Japanese. I've even watched many Japanese drama so to improve my Japanese.

Yeah Cube made it sound like they were looking to sign with new Chinese companies in the article I read. I just don't think Starry Sky Media had the infrastructure and connections Cube wants. I tend to think maybe they paid Cube to train artists for them but perhaps they're not making enough money to pay Cube back?

idk if Rain wants to resign with Cube but we will see. Cube was probably the only agency that might have offered him a good deal fresh off from his military service and his bad rep that time but it may also have been the loyalty despite other agencies wanting to sign him. We will never know.

 

I wonder if he will release an album before his contract is up.

I remember reading there were multiple companies out there that offered him big signing money but he signed with Cube for no contract fee. He's suppose to go on a tour this summer so perhaps a comeback before then? I could see him resigning. Cube kind of just lets him do his own thing in terms of acting and music production.

Poor M4M. Jimmy, Vinson, and Bin had to spend 4 years training and barely any activities the last 2 . If nobody wants to spend 30 minutes watching the video TL;DR: their Chinese company barely ever paid them and has basically ceased to exist. Alen was the only one getting any schedules with his drama and the other members were just sitting at home the past two years because the company couldn't afford to hire more managers or provide lessons for them. The company tried to turn around and say the members were going MIA and cutting off contact with the company. It sounds like the CEO is just a scumbag though as members of the staff weren't getting paid either. Their contract for was 10 years although I don't know if that includes the time they spent training at Cube. They just want to win appeal to terminate their contracts and move on. I hope word of this gets back to Cube somehow. Jimmy was hanging out with the Legend who's CEO was a former director at Cube.

Firstly, thank you everyone for their support all this time, and also want to say sorry, because even after more than one year of waiting, [we] still could not give back to everyone. I’m sorry. 

 

On March 31st that just passed, the four of us held a press conference in Beijing, concerning our current status in the press conference, regarding how all four of us filed a lawsuit in August of last year to terminate the contract with the Chinese company Xing Tian Media. We talked about the content with more details during the press conference. However, because the lawsuit is still ongoing, some details can only be explained to everyone when everything is completely over. 

 

Talking about the lawsuit, we did not do this just because we were irrational. We know there is a lot of negativity in our line of work concerning lawsuits, but after discussing with everyone, getting advice from parents, comparing with the work and life in the future, we finally made the heavy decision. Even though we might not be able to carry on in this career, we are still determined to leave [the company]. But of course, we will try our very best to persevere and keep on going with everyone, and like everyone’s wish, to terminate the contract but don’t break up as a group. 

I’ve read everyone’s comments and messages, thank you everyone’s support and anticipation. I’m really touched, but my heart also aches. We don’t want to let down the love from Formulas. Although the each of us are not sure what the future will be like for us, but I believe everyone’s hard work will have results. Each of us believes that the law will provide us justice. Hopefully we will still be able to meet with Formulas in the future. We anticipate this day to come.
