The girls dressed in black with black ribbons out of respect for those who died in the vent accident.

1. [+427, -11] They dressed more than appropriately. Are people expecting them to not even have make up on for a ceremony? Why are people nitpicking over every little thing.

2. [+408, -13] People expect a celebrity to go to a public event like this without any make up? Use your brain before nitpicking. It's not like they're attending a funeral, their make up is fine.

3. [+350, -17] It's not even 4minute's fault and yet they're still wearing black to mourn and people are still finding fault with their dark make up? That to me sounds just like needless nitpicking.

[HanKyung] Cube Entertainment heads for listing effort despite lower worth…Why?

Cube Entertainment that had voluntarily withdrawn their listing application, has opted to be listed again, after a short period of three months since the withdrawal.

On 31st October, according to Financial Supervisory Service, IHQ has announced their plans on the 27th October, that subsidiary Cube Entertainment will be merging with WooriSPAC2.

The merger will be in a ratio of 1 to 3.4626, with WooriSPAC2 worth 2301 Won per share and Cube Entertainment worth 7967 Won per share.

 

Cube Entertainment is a label company famous for housing singers Rain, 4minute, BEAST and many more artists. Although it was announced in May that they will head to be listed on the stock market, the application was eventually retracted two months later in July.

According to representatives of Cube Entertainment, Sewol incident has caused a staggering situation in the second quarter, and they had therefore, withdrawn their application then.

IHQ representatives continued, “After requesting for a review, the results showed a stable performance in terms of annual earnings. External factors which had caused a temporary slump in the second quarter were inevitable and had undeniably affected the company’s performance.â€

 

However, the consideration of the merger dropped, despite their fresh efforts to be listed again. When the first merger announcement was made in May, Cube Entertainment’s share was worth 8626 Won, instead of the revised 7976 Won per share.

The company reiterated that the less-than-satisfying performance during the second quarter was reflected on their accounts, despite showing strong performance in the first quarter. This had caused a lower revised value on the company’s worth.

The company opined that despite the drop of value, they are eager to push through the merger process, so to gain an upper hand to have better growth in the future soon.

 

As such, they have decided to merge with a SPAC (Special-Purpose Acquisition Company), which is known to be a ‘fast way’ to go through an IPO (Initial Public Offering).

“The competition in the entertainment industry is fierce. As such, development of existing artists and new rookies depends much on the outcome of the listing†and, “Through this listing efforts, we aim to recruit talents and to provide them with excellent and sufficient training equipment,†they emphasized.

 

About 15 billion Won of financing will be obtained if they achieved success in the process. With the funds, Cube Entertainments plans to recruit and debut rookies, and to enhance their overseas operations in China, Japan and South East Asia.

“The voluntarily withdrawal has indeed formed the largest question for investors and shareholders. Having said that, our earnings have stabilised. As much as our persistence, we have come to a decision that there is no reason to delay the listing efforts any longer.

If it's too hard to understand, here's a simpler version ^^;

 

Basically Cube wants to merge with WooriSPAC2 so that they get listed faster/easier. Once listed, they can get $$$, in which Cube will use them for Cube artists and other overseas operations (I'm guessing Cube Cafes around Asia).

 

But the value of Cube to merge has dropped because of poor earnings in second quarter, when Sewol happened. This is not a good thing because it means you are somehow 'selling' the company's shares at a cheaper price than it should be.

 

But Cube is determined to get listed so to get $$ faster and to invest them soon.

from what I understood from all of this is that Cube is still under IHQ but in order to be listed they need to merge with that other company WooriSPAC to have more shares so they will be eligble for listing.

You might have hit the nail on the head.  I collected the numbers from their Youtube views for "Beep Beep" and "You're So Fly" MVs (I don't like forming opinions without factual basis); it shows that the only reason the former was more "successful" was that the first five days or so had more cumulative views than the later.  During the first 24 hours of release, "Beep Beep" already had 100K+ views more  than "You're So Fly."

 

That could mean there was more "noise" because of BB's name and people are more inclined to try a song he's attached to. The numbers on the second week seemed random when they alternated in having better view increases. After about 12 days, "You're So Fly" actually had bigger daily view increases and it continued until the end of the promo period.  If they had promoted longer, like they did with "Beep Beep," "You're So Fly" could have narrowed the gap even more. But then of course the first week is more important, since those are a big deal for winning in shows and getting people to actually buy the album.

 

The first week's good numbers could also be attributed to a seemingly longer and maybe better pre-release promo, not just BB's name. I think their fans' tenacity (and slightly bigger number because of Beep Beep's popularity and group/members' individual promo activities) helped with the later weeks' numbers.  Believe it or not, even good or bad news about their not winning on music shows, their activities, and discussion of their (un)popularity seemed to have affected the daily numbers of the "You're So Fly" MV.

I agree with that cube can make them a vocal group because they have so many good singers in their group and that could also help differentiate them from other groups.
