Yeah Cube made it sound like they were looking to sign with new Chinese companies in the article I read. I just don't think Starry Sky Media had the infrastructure and connections Cube wants. I tend to think maybe they paid Cube to train artists for them but perhaps they're not making enough money to pay Cube back?

A bit off topic... I am really hoping BTOB will be received well in the Philippines, during their concert with other SM Ent artists so that the management can also look into bringing other Cube artists (i.e. Beast) to the Philippines... T_T

I remember reading there were multiple companies out there that offered him big signing money but he signed with Cube for no contract fee. He's suppose to go on a tour this summer so perhaps a comeback before then? I could see him resigning. Cube kind of just lets him do his own thing in terms of acting and music production.

I see. Yeah he probably feels Cube is a much more familiar environment to be in and he can speak his mind freely on what he wants seeing how he's close with Hong and probably some of the staff who were in JYP as well.

I totally understand you, I think BTOB should win this year so people can have their attention to them, plus there are many handsome boys *_* that attracts fans lol

 

Cube Entertainment should promote more their artist I totally like their japanese company, they are really active and make them make more money than in South Korea.

They should make this year their year.

I think it was a good decision they made them release an original japanese song soon after they debuted with their WOW remake tbh. Beast only released their original japanese song 3 yrs after they debuted there and that's probably why they didn't get more popular and now it seems too late. Well, they went indie so I think they are trying to reach out to a more diverse audience with the different genres they are doing with their music there for the rest of the year.

 

They sold lots of albums in Japan. I know it's hard for some melodies but I won't be too surprised if they do more japan activities now that they've had this much success in just 6 months tbh. They might end up like 2PM with more music released there and solos. Good for them and their pockets.

It's not just the span between the WOW and Future releases that helped with BtoB's success in Japan; they worked harder also.  Hyunsik was right, success in Japan is as big as the effort.  Beast don't really go all out with their promos in Japan; I don't think they could have because that would have killed them, since they were too busy.  Even now, they still just jet in and out when they promote or do any activity in Japan.  Add to that, like you mentioned, Beast didn't release an original Japanese single for forever after their debut.  The high interest in BtoB was evident even during their debut; that might be the reason Cube decided to release an original Japanese single as soon as 5 months after debut, basically, strike while the iron is hot.  Honestly though, I think even Cube and Kissent were surprised by how good BtoB did with Future.  Who wouldn't be surprised at a #2 debut on the Japanese Billboard Hot 100?

 

I wouldn't give up on their possible leapfrog in Korea, as well.  The resurgence in awareness and interest from teenagers for BtoB gives hope that maybe this is their year in Korea, too.  I still would prefer they hit big in Korea because my taste leans more towards the Korean pop music style.  I like rock, but I don't think BtoB would go there even in Japan, like FTIsland.

 

Sungjae replacing Minhyuk as the actingdol in BtoB didn't surprise me at all.  As early as more than a year ago, I was questioning in my head why they weren't pushing him in that direction.  Then I realized he actually was still in high school.  I think Hyunsik might also do well in acting, but he seems not interested.  Seeing Changsub in his hidden camera in Cool Men and also behind camera in the background when he's not goofing around made me realize he could also go into it, probably not as a lead.  The latter two are also too shy though, so...

The ones who made fun of him were just butthurt because they didn't get what they want. Quite a lot of people on different sites actually have positive reactions to his casting. I hope he really goes out with a bang up job from the get go in School. A serviceable one is okay because he's green, but I really want him to get rave reviews.

True.. well not to forget Beast did debut in Japan during the tsunami in 2011 which was the reason they weren't able to promote there as intended. Probably why they worked right away on a full album in Korea to make up for it. Fortunately, they hit it big with it. Then went on tours etc. Not to mention Beast has had some controversial stuff in there too with Dokdo and the Japan traditional clothes they refuse to wear on some event.

 

If Sungjae gets rave reviews for School 2015, Cube should capitalize on that and if the time table will be followed - a full album in the summer is a good plan.

Poor M4M. Jimmy, Vinson, and Bin had to spend 4 years training and barely any activities the last 2 . If nobody wants to spend 30 minutes watching the video TL;DR: their Chinese company barely ever paid them and has basically ceased to exist. Alen was the only one getting any schedules with his drama and the other members were just sitting at home the past two years because the company couldn't afford to hire more managers or provide lessons for them. The company tried to turn around and say the members were going MIA and cutting off contact with the company. It sounds like the CEO is just a scumbag though as members of the staff weren't getting paid either. Their contract for was 10 years although I don't know if that includes the time they spent training at Cube. They just want to win appeal to terminate their contracts and move on. I hope word of this gets back to Cube somehow. Jimmy was hanging out with the Legend who's CEO was a former director at Cube.

Firstly, thank you everyone for their support all this time, and also want to say sorry, because even after more than one year of waiting, [we] still could not give back to everyone. I’m sorry. 

 

On March 31st that just passed, the four of us held a press conference in Beijing, concerning our current status in the press conference, regarding how all four of us filed a lawsuit in August of last year to terminate the contract with the Chinese company Xing Tian Media. We talked about the content with more details during the press conference. However, because the lawsuit is still ongoing, some details can only be explained to everyone when everything is completely over. 

 

Talking about the lawsuit, we did not do this just because we were irrational. We know there is a lot of negativity in our line of work concerning lawsuits, but after discussing with everyone, getting advice from parents, comparing with the work and life in the future, we finally made the heavy decision. Even though we might not be able to carry on in this career, we are still determined to leave [the company]. But of course, we will try our very best to persevere and keep on going with everyone, and like everyone’s wish, to terminate the contract but don’t break up as a group. 

I’ve read everyone’s comments and messages, thank you everyone’s support and anticipation. I’m really touched, but my heart also aches. We don’t want to let down the love from Formulas. Although the each of us are not sure what the future will be like for us, but I believe everyone’s hard work will have results. Each of us believes that the law will provide us justice. Hopefully we will still be able to meet with Formulas in the future. We anticipate this day to come.
