fan-fiction writing tips

Recommended Posts

If you use proper spelling and grammar, people will take your fic seriously.

Don't portray people OOC, it's just bad and lazy writing.

Use adjectives appropriately and in effective amounts.

I've never written fanfics for K pop idols though, so maybe it's a bit different?

Proofread - so much bad grammar in fanfic

Figure out if you're the type that needs to outline it or write as you go (but i feel multi-fics need an outline/endgame)

Don't be afraid to completely remove paragraphs

Find communities to link your fic. The more the better! Spread it around

Research if you have to. It really furthers the story.

idk if I should warn about this, but I've seen it too much. Use quotation quotes for direct speech. It sounds like common sense, but I've seen dashes used too many times. Don't overuse Korean. I've seen tiny amounts of it work, but don't overdo it.

*tip: there's a higher chance someone will read it if has smut  :hehe:

This. I saw a fic I wrote when I was 12 and It has OCs. Now I just want to slam my head on the table. Seriously now that I think of it I want to hang my head in shame. To think that I also promoted my fic to my friends back then... eww.
