This is a beta game, meaning that as we go I’ll be still tweaking trying to find the best game mechanic in order to fully enjoy this game. Please bear with me thanks.

General rules

Ø Active participation is required. If a question is asked to you and you are not there to answer within the given time limit it will halt and thus delay the game. If that happens I'll have you replaced.
.
Ø You are not allowed to discuss this game outside of this game thread.

Spyfall

Everyone (the townies) will be given a location and a role in their role PM except for one player, the spy.
The players will take turns and ask each other questions and answers them as if they were in that location.
The spy will have to bluff as he were there.

Town has to figure out who the spy is and wins when succesfully accusing the spy.

The spy wins when a townie is wrongly accused or when the spy reveal themselves in the thread and guesses the correct location before being accused.

So the Q&A shouldn’t be too obvious for the spy to able to tell, but not too vague either as it can lead to suspicions.
Example:

Location: Airplane

Player #1: What do you think of the weather?
Player #2: It’s clear. Would you like a cigarette?
Player #3(spy): I don’t smoke
Player #2: accuse #3
Player #1: support

Player #1: What do you think of the weather?
Player #2: It’s clear. Would you like a cigarette?
Player #3(spy): No, that’s dangerous. Are you going somewhere?
Player #4: Business as usual. What did you bring along?
Player #5: A small suitcase.
Player #3 (spy): I’m the spy and the location is an airplane (spy wins)/ a passenger train (town wins)

So these examples are kinda weak (I would suck at it tbh lmao) but to give you guys an idea…

There will be 3 rounds all with a slightly different set-up.
Before each round the player list order and roles will be randomized.

1st set-up/round

Question rounds:
1st question round: In the order of the players list, player #1 ask one question to player #2, player #2 answers and asks another question to player #3 etc. When player #1 has answered the question from player #8 we go to the next question round.
2nd question round: you can ask one question to a player of your choice. After all players have asked a question we start again with the 1st question round.

Ø I will give a 5 min time limit to answer a question and come up with a new question for the next player. It should be in one post.

Accusations:
Starting from the 2nd question round, at any time each player (including the spy) is allowed to throw one accusation per question round by bolding accuse + name player ie: accuse Pinklette.

The question round will then be paused as the other players have to either support or deny.

The voting has to be unanimous, so if one player disagrees/denies (excluding the accused) the question round will be continued or a new accusation can be made (by another player)

When the support is unanimous the round ends and the player accused will be revealed.

If the accused is the spy, town wins, if he isn’t than spy wins.

The spy can also win by guessing the location in the thread before being accused. He may not take a guess when it's the spy turn to answer and ask a question. If the spy guesses incorrectly, town wins.

Ø I don’t want a round to be draggy with continues deny of accusations and ongoing questions rounds, so if that happens I’ll decide at some point to end the game and do a majority voting.

2nd set-up/round

few tweaks:
The list of possible locations will be revealed in the thread.
There is no 2nd question round. After a full cycle of the 1st Q&A we start again and from then on accusations can be thrown.

reasons:

-In the first set-up no list of possible locations will be given, so it might be incredible hard for the spy to figure out what the location is. But I want to try this first because I want to see how OH Town formulates their Q&A and they may or may not make it very easy for the spy to guess the location.
-no chosing player of choice as a player may be picked multiple times

3rd set-up/round.

The final round with the final tweaks with everyone’s feedback after the first 2 rounds.

Depending on the time, we could do a 4th for the people in the waiting list who wants to play

Expecting for the game to not take longer than 2 hours.

Scoring system

On another forum they’re using a scoring system to figure out the best player after several rounds of playing. I think it could translate into tokens. For now I haven’t asked as it is a beta version and there are different set-ups it won’t be fair.

Example scoring system:

Spy
+3 for winning at the end of the round (another player is accused)
+4 for guessing the right location before being accused
+5 for having someone else unanimously accused as the spy before the end of the round

Town
+2 for majority voting for the spy correctly

Depending on how easy/hard it is for Spy to win I might add more or less points. I think it is harder to play spy, hence the spy can get more points. However if I would host a game, there would probably be only 4-5 rounds played, meaning not everyone has a chance to become spy, making it unfair to the players… this needs some thinking….
