toshi 1,466
Hi, I didn't know where to ask this question, so Hollywood seemed the most appropriate. Most of us know that K Pop stars train in their companies to become singers etc. I want to go through the same type of training, but as I'm not as interested in being a singer in Korea as I am in England, can anyone give me advice on how to go through similar training. I live in England so it needs to be here, USA answers are welcome to, but England is preferred as I live there. I have trained in dance for years, but singing not so much, I've had several singing teachers, but I've found most of them to be useless as they are just trying to make some quick money by teaching for an hour. I'm wanting to enter a training system, like the trainee system in Korea, where singing, dancing, etc is taught over hours. Obviously I know I won't be able to find the same thing as money is spent on the trainees, but I need something more than a lesson of singing with a private vocal coach. Any suggestions would be really helpful, thanks very much.

...... 3,962
anything that works even mildly like the korean idol industry, in the western world... is more often than not a scam. 6theory is a great example... about 2 or 3 years ago, they scammed people hardcore, out of money... by telling them they were holding idol auditions + classes with some other sketch company... turns out, all they were doing was recording videos of auditions...and then sending them off to companies... who were not involved in the auditions and didn't even know about them... ie... charging people money, to do what they could have done themselves... This is the type of thing that happens in the west... especially in malls... they will take your money...and put you in "camp"/"class" ... with a bunch of other schmucks...and tell you they are training you for the big time... they aren't though... I worked in music industry for about 3 years... the hard truth is, you have to be very resourceful, if you don't have connections... it's not impossible...but ... improbable... honestly...until or unless a kpop company opens up perma-shop in England...and holds auditions...you are going to have to do what all the other non-korea born wishfuls do... continue to "train" independently...and then audition when they do world wides.. if you want to potentially expedite the process... look for a professional talent agent/agency... i mean... that's much easier said than done...but... if you're serious... I'm very wary of scams, so I definatley won't get caught in that. I'm happy to train independently, I just need a talent agent/agency of some sort. Do you have any suggestions. I hate to think people on here may think I'm lazy, trust me I'm not, I've spent a long time looking for this and I've had several singing teachers, but I honestly think they're a waste of time, they're just in it for money, I need a system like a record company that needs you to be amazing to make them money, someone who is committed to that and not just wanting money. There are plenty of classes I've seen in England, like where you learn singing and dancing etc, but they just look like what I've been to before. My dancing skills are good anyway its mainly the singing I want to do, so right now I think college is the best option.

I'll try and start posting videos when I feel I'm ready as well. I've just found out I might be able to get some part time work, so I'll be able to afford more singing lessons, hopefully I'll find someone worth the time and money.
