flipocrisy 15 Posted June 27, 2015 Share Posted June 27, 2015 Total noob here, so figured I'd pop in and say hi. Anyway, I'm Mathew, otherwise known as flipocrisy around the interwebz. I'm a relatively newer KPOP fan, as my interest didn't come around until the LA KPOP Festival back in 2014. I tagged along with some family and was hooked ever since. I've mostly been into Japanese culture as I'm a huge anime/manga/JRock nut, but I've found KPOP and Kdramas to be quite enjoyable. My interest in this genre is a bit different than your average fan... I used to sing with an amateur R&B group / boy band or whatever you want to call it. We did small time gigs for parties, cultural festivals, showcases and such. Since that genre really doesn't exist anymore in the local scene (Oh, I'm from California, USA), I found KPOP to fill that void that was missing. Though I acknowledge that many of the female groups are great, I really only follow male groups because of my musical background and wanting to sing along with the songs. I just love hearing skilled vocalists, dissecting harmonies, and figuring out the chords for songs on the guitar (acoustic). In that regard, my favorite groups have been EXO, SHINee, VIXX and TVXQ, though I enjoy listening to a ton of other groups as well (B.A.P, Teen Top, MBLAQ, GOT7, U-KISS, Super Junior, BTS, Block B, 2PM, BIGBANG, etc etc etc) I'm a bit of an older fan (embarassed to admit my age since majority of the fan base is younger), though I usually pass off as pretty young, probably cuz I work at a school and blend in pretty well with the crowd haha... Anyway, pleased to meet you all and I'll try to be active. You'll probably see me lurking mostly in The Studio as music is my love. Yeah they were great, though that camera man was horrible LOL CN Blue had the biggest impact on me as I ended up buying a few of their albums right after.
