everypart 11,409
So it's not just his photoshoot with Kendall getting him a mention in Western media.. (I'll only post the relevant parts) Dailymail: Try this for thighs: 'Taylor Swift' inspires new social media craze in China as women are now showing off how many people they can spread their legs across The trend sprouted when Kris Wu, 24, a Chinese actor and pop-star, sent Weibo users wild when he posted a photo in which his legs take up a whole sofa. Over 42 million users saw the image on the site, which is the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, since it was put up on Sunday. However, the craze really kicked off after a picture of a woman identified as Taylor Swift emerged in which she showed off her leggy figure by crossing her limbs over three people. The innovative photo inspired fans to imitate the pose by seeing how many people they could spread their legs over. So far, the original topic post has amassed 250,000 clicks since it was put up on Tuesday. LINK TO ARTICLE HOWEVER This article is not even close to accurate. The trend had nothing to do with Taylor Swift. Here's ChinaDaily's version of the report: Topic that is using Taylor's picture only has 360,000 views: While the topic about WYF's legs has 58,000,000 views: Plus, the topic #ä½ çš„è…¿èƒ½æ¨ªè·¨å‡ ä¸ªäºº# (how many people can your legs cross) that's using that Taylor pic is mostly about Kris anyway. Check out the posts using that hashtag. So how did Taylor popularize it? Lol. Oh, western media.. never change.
Sehunk 2,641
I love Taylor and Kris so I ain't gonna defend/attack either one. BUT, I'm always annoyed when western media always try to credit themselves. It's like they live in a bubble of "U.S.A. #1" That is why I don't really bother with idols trying to make it in the western world. I would think, it would be more lucrative for companies to venture into China (which a lot of them are doing) cuz damnnn, 42 million for 1 pic of his legs~ Other than Communism, China seems like a better place to go. kinjiki 1,999
So how did Taylor popularize it? Lol. Oh, western media.. never change. Why the fuck would the Western Media report a story about a regional "star" like Kris? TAYLOR SWIFT IS THE QUEEN OF POP ALL OVER THE WORLD. Then they should have not reported it at all seeing as this "craze" was not popularized by Taylor and this happened in the REGIONAL and tiny country of China lmao

The clarification about the report wasn't meant to be an attack on Taylor (I'm sure she doesn't care either way lmao) but more on how different Western media reports things that are not happening in their countries. I mean, even the facts they put in their article doesn't support their headline lol. Western media always loves crediting their artists for things that don't even have anything to do with them.
