I'm surprised New York City is ranked that high. O.O

I lived here and it's not that expensive.

You're kidding right?  NYC is super expensive. The average rent for a small ass studio is about 2500 and for a 1 bedroom is 3000...add to that the minimum wage is only at 8.75 (which millions of new yorkers are living by) and essentially majority of New Yorkers are living either at the bottom or at the top. There is barely a middle class. And now with vacancy decontrol being a big problem, lots and lots of building owners are going to start deregulating apartments so they can move in either rich college kids or move in idiot college kids that come from other places and are willing to live with 6 other strangers just so they can brag about being a New Yorker...

Also, add to this that the cost of food has gone up...A gallon of milk is about 5 dollars in most of Manhattan and about 3.99 else where, when it used to be 2 dollars almost everywhere about two years ago.

NYC is one of the most expensive cities in America and it's only getting worse with the income disparity. I can't wait to move the F out.

Well, I do agree with you. Even my parents moved out cause the cost of living was ridiculous. It seems as if you were talking about Manhattan rather than NYC as a whole though. Cause my Brooklyn rent was nowhere as expensive. (4 rooms for - $1,700 in 2014). Btw, hope you move out soon. You'll get so much more freedom and less stress.  And don't get me wrong, I do think NYC is expensive but I just didn't expect it to be within the top 10. And tbh, other than the milk and some other food items, I don't think the food prices are that ridiculous. It's just a little more expensive than Texas. And well, pardon me for ignorance, but I'm just a kid

i was thinking this too  :derp:

Good I'm not the only one who thought this.

yeah there's no way that ranking is true... when I look at my (past) rent(s) and how much I had to pay/borrow to buy my current apartment... lol @ Paris being only 19  :imstupid:
