[RUMOR] Wu Yifan and Lin Gengxin to star in Journey to the West 2?

22 Jun - Rumours are rife that Kris Wu and Lin Gengxin will star in the sequel to Stephen Chow's 2013 hit film, "Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons".

 

According to Oriental Daily News, after it was reported that Tsui Hark will replace Stephen as the director, a rumour has surfaced online that the production has already set its sight on two actors.

 

Without naming anyone in particular, it is said that one of the stars was born in 1988, while the other is a former EXO member, sparking speculations that Lin Gengxin and Kris Wu may be the stars reported.

 

Lin has already worked with Tsui before in "The Taking of Tiger Mountain" and "Young detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon", while Kris, who played the lead role in Xu Jinglei's "Somewhere Only We Know", has attracted a lot of attention from film production since then.

He and Li Gengxin are also working together on a new variety show, along with Fan Bingbing and Li Chen.

 

This should be interesting if true, esp since the lead actress of the movie, goddess Shu Qi, has expressed interest in working with him:

Oh, that movie was a hugeeeeeeee hit.

It breakin record left and right and was a huge talk in media and town (I heard is the highest gross of Chinese-language film ever with over $200 millions USD to date). Personally I find the movie is so-so although is enjoyable enough, it just that I expected better in comedy from Stephen Chow. Shu Qi save the movie imo although her character is not that great either but she make it work. It will be great to see Kris working with goddess Shu Qi and hopefully season 2 will be better and improve with technology effects.
