After teasing the debut of a new YG girl group earlier this year, Yang Hyun Suk surprised K-Pop fans with plans to debut a male idol group through Mnet’s upcoming survival program WIN: Who is Next.

A production presentation for the show was held at the Conrad Hotel Grand Ballroom in Seoul on August 20, where Yang Hyun Suk revealed what caused him to shift gears.

“To be honest, I wanted to make a group like SNSD, because that’s not my area of expertise,†said Yang Hyun Suk. “But I’ve always wondered what a pretty girl group doing hip hop would look like.â€

As fans know, such a girl group was on track to make its debut, however, Yang Hyun Suk halted the process, revealing “Ultimately, they were short of the talent I was looking for. I wasn’t 100 percent satisfied and couldn’t debut them.â€

Still, Yang Hyun Suk added that he hasn’t completely folded plans to debut a girl group and that plans for its debut are underway.

Meanwhile, WIN: Who is Next, which will pit two teams of male idol trainees against each other in survival battles, is set to premiere on August 23 on Mnet and tvN.

So I take it he's not debuting them anymore? Or starting a new line up?

Damn you YG.
