it is not the first time something like this happens to SNSD and others in SM. many SM idols said that they have to compete with professional producers to get their lyrics and songs added to their album. the quality has to be on par with that of the professionals' work for SM to accept it. she already has had her lyrics accepted before and hopefully she'll keep working to become better and passes SM's judgement 

that being said, i wonder if they can still perform the songs SM turned down in concerts

Sometimes a song can be good and get turned down if the company doesn't think that it fits the image of the group. Hyorin from Sistar had a song that she wrote for their last album and all of the girls liked it. The company told her no. She said it was because it wasn't something that Sistar normally did. It was something different from their previous releases.

I don't know...some of the songs they are letting SM artists put on albums are kind of meh so I wonder if the standard is different for each group or solo

It's not like the songs some SM artists have written in the past were on Tablo's level. Either SM is trying to play it safe for this comeback (which is a good thing, they'd better not half-ass it) or her lyrics were just not good enough!

lmoa, Lay's written exactly one song that was included in an EXO album and now he is being used as a reference. plenty of other SM artists have contributed to their music much much more over the years, SNSD included. using him as a reference in a thread about such an issue is really funny.
