Big 3 Rookies to get advantage

A new system put into place by entertainment agencies will now allow artists to make an income as soon as they debut.

Common practice among entertainment companies is to first make back the investment they put into debuting the idol. This situation is the basis for some artists such as EXID receiving paychecks long after their success.

They first reach the BEP (Break Even Point) taking into consideration the training fees, recording, album production and marketing. For example, if all those processes cost the company 1 million dollars, the idol first has to make back 1 million dollars before getting an income.

However, SM Entertainment takes the burden of production fees for their artists while JYP Entertainment takes care of album production fees. YG Entertainment thinks of training fees as an investment and does not expect to earn it back from the artists.

Initiated by JYP Entertainment, artists from the “Big Three†will make an income as soon as they debut. This is true even if they do not reach the Break Even Point.

Didn't BoA say on her Win Win episode that she got paid like 50 000 USD after she finished recording of her debut album.
She bought a new cell phone and gave rest of that to her parents which is understandable since she was only 13yo.

So your saying as soon as JYP debuts Twice. they;d be making a revenue compared to 'nugu' groups that are only making a loss for over 18 months before BEP even is reached  Not a surprise but still not a shocker to be honest.

See TS entertainment that is how you should act, atleast pay some WON to you hardworking artist.

If a agency can't provide any some decent minimum wages, than they should not be open for business.

I hope more companies could follow this way. If not, they better dont make new groups anymore

am I the only one who doesn't understand this process?  :._.:

It just means the newer big 3 groups will take longer to finish paying back their debts than their predecessors but they get to have income as soon as they debut.

Most smaller companies cannot afford to use this system because of the risks of the groups failing.

Yup Kwon said on Happy Together in 2013 that JYPE had changed their system so GOT7 started making money as soon as they debuted too.

In my opinion, it makes perfect sense.  It is the company investment on these artists.  They have to distribute the cost over the timeline and not expect to take the huge lump sum from the revenue generated by the artists.  The artists need money for themselves and their family too.  This is fair.
