Oricon Half-Year Roundup

Oricon has just released all of their mid-year sales information; this includes all of the sales which took place starting on the chart week dated December 22nd, 2014 and concluding on the chart week dated June 15th, 2015.  We'll start with the Top 5 highest grossing acts for this period (based on Single, Album, DVD, and Blu-ray sales) and then move into the Top 50 Albums and Singles and the Top 10 Music DVDs and Blu-rays, which will be translated as accurately as I'm able.  In addition, last year's mid-year charts to compare.  Alright, no point in wasting anymore time, so let's get this going.

It happened rather quickly. That AKB48 album sank like a rock after the first week, while the 3JSB album had a lot of longevity. It may eventually reach 1 million while the chances of the AKB48 album doing that disappeared after like 2 weeks of its release.

And the year is just about to start for them ... go Eito! :D Hope they can mantain their top 3 position at the end of the year ^^

DVDs are the biggest moneymakers tho, more than albums and singles. It's how Arashi manages to maintain the top spot because their massive DVDs outsell AKBs million singles

@kathp I know ^^ my surprise was mostly due to see both eito DVDs on the top 5 , I knew Jussai sold really well but I had no info about Kanjanism aside from being #1 on Oricon for 2 weeks(but lately u can be #1 even with poor sales ) . Plus Eito DVDs are far from being cheap stuff so it makes sense to make that much

 

@whitedove I'm aware of that group and their recent explosion in popularity / sales ... I know it will be difficult but more or less eito have been showing a stable and progressive growth in sales thru the years, it'll all depend on how good the new singles and maybe new album perform on the rankings . The second half of the year is usually the most productive for eito( in terms of $$$ ) .
