Why is being transgender more valid than being transracial if gender isn't real?

When I say real, I mean it's not scientifically a thing. I've been thinking about the whole transgender/transracial thing that's being brought up lately and there isn't as big of a difference between race and gender as people claim. They're both social constructs that are fueled by stereotypes and societal expectations.

It's also important to note that being transgender is not necessarily the same as being transsexual.

Gender dysphoria is a real thing but this isn't it just caused by gender stereotypes and the individual's own perception of each gender?

Idk, I'm just trying to be open-minded about things and this is something I want to be more educated about before actually having an opinion.

I support transgender people as I have transgender friends but I think we need to have a more mature discussion about being transracial vs being transgender than simply "it's not the same".

how can you change your race?

The same way you change your gender.

Metaphysically.

The OP has a point. Westerners tend to group all Asians as a single race, but Asian themselves such as SEAs, Chinese and Koreans look at each other as being of different racial origin. Who says who is right? Its up to them and each individual as how they want to be identified.

First of all I want to say I don't know the difference between transgender and transsexual (even after googling it).

Btw, I don't think it's the same thing. I mean, I don't feel white, I just am white. It has nothing to do with my personality, or desires or anything else. On the other side, I am a girl and I feel like a girl.

Apparently if you want to be a different race you don't love yourself and need to seek help, but if you want to be a different race it's empowering and you should do what you want because it's your life!

This too.

I mean, why would anyone want to change their race?

You were taught you were white. If you grew up in another society where race was not socially constructed and people of various skin colors were considered 'one', you wouldn't think any of it. Like someone with big hands or small hands.

i'm really not good at articulating my thoughts so i just kind of hope you get what im saying with what will surely be this word vomit

i know "its just different" isn't a valid answer in this case but tbh, you have to acknowledge that there is a difference between gender and race.

i just feel like there would be really really racist connotations for someone to feel like they're a race they've never experienced being?? like i like "chinese food" and im really interested in chinese culture, but i will not ever know what it's like to be Han chinese because i didn't grow up in china, didn't learn the language, and i've never lived my life as a chinese person.

and to be transracial is just kind of admitting that you think there's some difference in humanity if that makes sense? like how can you identify as another race - how do you know you even identify as a different race? people of different races are people too, and just because people come from different cultures and some things are associated with some races does not make you, who feels "black". this would imply that being race X is an entirely different experience. race X people dress differently, live differently, just,,, they are an entirely other species to you!!! that's not okay to think! that's just kind of,,, dehumanizing the race in a way?? and stripping them of individuality and making them your own racist beliefs.

and tbh i rlly just feel like coloring your skin to appear to be another race is kind of blatantly wrong

if you want i can explain why i personally think it's different from transgender but i don't think this made much sense,,, but i hope you at least kind of get an idea of what i think

As others said, im too dumb to answer this but you can't just "change your race" just by mimicking fake hair and getting a tan and trying to dress yourself up as what you THINK a person from that race looks like. If you truly identify with a race why do you need to dress a stereotypical way to prove it? You don't need a costume to show that.

That's why I never understand people in tumblr who say a GIRL isn't identified by having boobs and a vagina!! It's how you feel on the inside!!

But then transgenders (or maybe transexuals is the right word? Idk) will get surgeries to get boobs and they try their hardest to look like a typical girly girl.

Someone come educate me and explain.

That's right, I don't think any of it. That's why it's different from gender.

Gender is learned from society, as is race identity. Sex (male or female) comes from nature's Y and X chromosomes.

Gender is learned from society that is right but it's something that it is in your brain

We don't have to follow the specific gender norms that our world had that is why genderqueer people exist but they are here we have to live with them this isn't an utopia, you can deny them if you don't identify with them but it is in your brain.

it does not work like that with race

Caitlyn Jenner is transsexual, she got a sex change.

TS Madison is transgender. She identifies as a woman but she has a penis, no sex change.

At least, I think that's how it goes...

Gender is scientifically a thing, it's a small section of the social justice crowd that wants to try to convince the world that it's not. They've failed spectacularly at convincing any credible scientific institution, but bless their little hearts they keep at it anyway.

this is so fucking stupid that i legit need to take a moment to let it settle in my spirit.

Transgender people don't wake up one morning and choose to be transgender (whether or not they transition is a choice but being transgender in and of itself is not one).

Rachel Dolezal, which is where this transracial bullshit is stemming from right now, chose to get an easy bake oven tan/ a yaki wig in order to pretend to be black to get into Howard & then took it to a whole new level of fuckery.

I'm happy to be part of those people, those people make trans people feel accepted and like they are human beings, ain't  no scientist doing that right now.
