Should other companies follow SM's strategy and cross-promote their groups?

SM:

2009: SNSD vs Super Junior

2010: f(x) vs Super Junior

2013: f(x) vs EXO

YG:

xxxx: 2ne1 vs Big Bang?

JYP:

2010: miss A vs 2pm/2am

Cube:

xxxx: 4minute vs Beast?

etc.

nah from a company stand point cross promoting as i see is just an excuse to create a fan war so fans can fight to see who's selling more and buy more copies.

but as a fan, if their are 365 days in the year and you spend half of that time doing nothing, and suddenly want to make 2 of your artists fight against each other that's just messed up.

I really wish they wouldn't. It just takes away from the artist who was promoting first. I don't really mind if they overlap when one group is doing a goodbye stage and the other is doing a comeback stage, but for f(x) for example, it was just really bad because EXO came back the week after f(x)'s album was released.

And even YG's slew of comebacks is pretty crazy. 2NE1, GD and Seungri all promoting at the same time (I think?)

This year's f(x)'s promotion was really messed up. F(X) had a new full album that we waited for over year but EXO had a repackage with about a week's separation. AS a senior girl group SM should have waited but if not, at least promoted the girls more. (They only had one fan sign event limited to 100 fans that was sponsored by Hot Tracks, not SM) Over four years in the music industry and yet so little (no official fanclub name, concert etc.) They are still top tier as they win awards year after year and recognized by music critics and by other countries. SXSW and that (FOD)project with Anna Kendrick are good examples of interest not cultivated by their own company.

But one thing remains ... loyal fans (growing in size too) who continue to support them!!! I hope this is a wakeup call for SM to look within their own company and see the treasure that is still waiting ...

JYP always put up their groups against another big group/act so no need to add another group at the same otherwise it will be a hot mess. Just some examples : SNSD vs 2AM (2010), Wonder Girls vs Big Bang (2012, Monster did better than Like This even though it was not promoted), 2AM vs SHINee (2012), Wonder Girls vs SNSD vs T-ara (2011), etc...
