It's not every day you get to hear one of Japan's biggest names in pop music perform with a vocaloid (voice synthesizer). And Hatsune Miku is one of Japan's most famous vocaloids, having opened for Lady Gaga and performed on David Letterman.

For Namie Amuro's new album "_genic," the two JPop divas join up for "Be Who I Want 2 B," which has immediately become a favorite of many early listeners. The song features a bouncy, minimalistic production and extremely catchy chorus.

Take a listen below and purchase "_genic" out this week! And pray for dat live duet!

i had wtf moment with this song but that hatsune someone being vocaloid explains it

One of the worst songs on an album full of duds. I had a hard time telling who was the human and who was the computer program.

srsly?

The song is a future classic in the making...That being said, I agree that Namie's voice was so distorted on the song that she and the vocaloid were sounding very similar...

srsly pals? i mean they processed her vocals, for it being heavily stylized material, but it's still hella recognizable to me..

It's actually one of my fave tracks on the album, it's different, and weird, but I love it tbh.

I feel the same way. It's becoming my favorite on the album (even more than Golden Touch which is SO good). It's just so fun and happy and catchy and unfff

Nobody is putting that on a cover album.

Off course, nobody can even come close to the perfection that Amuro and the vocaloid made here...

I discovered that the song was produced by the same guy who produced "Bitch, I'm Madonna" by...some artist whose name I keep forgetting...if only she said it in the title of her song or something....

I actually dig this. It sounds out of the world compared to the rest of the album. Refreshing after a slew of Top40 EDMs. I don't even listen to Miku but this kind of collaboration is welcomed. Good experimentation.
