Baekkkaeb 747
Tbh, I see a lot of parallels with Sehun and Jessica from SNSD, except Jessica's regression is slightly more justified since she was a main vocalist and had a reason to stop focusing on her dancing. And the girl in my sig is Zara Larsson. It's from her Bad Boys music video. There were also something about her having anemia or something. Whatever is up with Sehun, I hope he fixes it. He could slay. Maybe not on Kai's level, but ... You just reminded me of Jessica's golden days in dancing. Is the video worth watching?

Boadicea 2,129
I'm really sorry, I will do an analysis of that video really soon! It's just with newly debuted groups, their videos are a lot harder since I have not familiarised myself with them yet. I promise that I will get it done by next week! Oh, that's fine, don't feel too much push on it. I just wanted to make a note of it, since I was left hanging on a question last time and I waited silently. Never got an answer. I felt compelled this time to say something to at least get some confirmation instead of wondering ^^;.

stab 4,072
I was watching Crazy for the hundredth time (who wasn't) and I noticed that Gayoon never kicks her leg up properly during the chorus, both in the dance practice and mv. is she just... badly coordinated or jihyun looked fine to me. (and jiyoon just walks up to the front so smoothly i cant) actually, i just watched this again and realized gayoon made a mistake at 0:08 and her back seems too... stiff at 0:18. the others kind of arch their back but she's standing erect and it looks awkward. then again, it is just a practice-even hyuna isn't putting 110%- so i'll wait for a broadcast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBtLsAUPcXc actually, gayoon's kicking (or lack thereof) looks like laziness here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11ktJ3ANPVs Edited February 10, 2015 by HappinessOfStab
Qri 4,063
Yein [pigtails] - JIN [beige overthrow] Jiae [all black] - Kei [white shirt] Baby Soul [green] - Mijoo [red/white stripes] Sujeong [black/white/stripes] Is it possible to do a somewhat thorough but simple analysis of each member's dancing? It's fine if you take some time with it since it's seven. And in the end, where would you guys rank them in order? The choreography is pretty simple and doesn’t show a lot of range, so the analysis will be pretty pedantic. Also I don't have time to do all the members right now but I promise I'll get to them!!! Here's all I have time for right now: Yein - Generally nice form and execution throughout, however there were points where she had problems with her fluidity as well as accuracy of her leg movements which come across as lazy/sloppy during the pre-chorus/chorus (e.g. 1:00 to 1:02 - lazy transition, 1:20 - weak leg movement, 1:26 - weak leg movement again, 1:30 to 1:35 - poor transition and left leg is noticeably weaker than the right leg during the chorus, 1:36 - lazy again, 1:41 to 1:43 - weaker left leg again, 1:44 - lazy again, 1:46 - lazy again, etc. - these problems are basically replicated during the 2nd pre-chorus and chorus). Her upper limb movements are generally a lot more solid and she displays a lot more musicality with her arms as well which is nice to see. Baby Soul - Has very similar issues to Yein, i.e. problematic leg movements, however at different points in the dance. She also has slight timing issues at points and skipped a few movements which indicates moments of poor musicality (0:40 - lazy and slightly behind everyone else, 0:42 to 0:44 - just bad lol, 0:51 - issues with foot placement, 1:02 - wrong move, 3:51 - the leg placement of her ending pose is awkward). However, her dancing during the chorus is very solid and she displays very nice musicality as well as precision which suggests that she is quite inconsistent, since there are moments particularly during the beginning where her dancing is poor but she really does shine during the chorus. There isn’t enough material to make a true judgement on her consistency, but she definitely was not consistent in this performance. Ok I know I've put this on hold for so long and I'm super sorry, but please understand that I'm busy with school and I'm basically the only person answering questions on the dance thread right now since everyone else is busy so I'm so sorry. and that was a really long sentence... Qri! Inform me on Bruno Mars! Nice musicality and rhythm, but there's not really much else I can comment on since this video isn't really much to go off, so yeah. It seems to me that Yuri got worse! Even Seohyun dances better than her here. Watchu think? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRtgXzr7GPE Nah, all of them were dancing lazily but tbh my eyes kept focusing on how tragic Sunny and Tiffany were doing the choreography... like um... that is one of the worst performances I have seen Sunny dance. But yeah, Seohyun did dance better than Yuri in that performance, but it's still only one performance so we'll see how things develop. I was watching Crazy for the hundredth time (who wasn't) and I noticed that Gayoon never kicks her leg up properly during the chorus, both in the dance practice and mv. is she just... badly coordinated or jihyun looked fine to me. Jihyun appears to have improved in this comeback so I might look into her more. The Crazy choreography would be flawless if it wasn't for the tragic twerking. She has this chill badass vibe when dancing. I used to think Gayoon was better but now I'm not so sure. Her execution is incredibly poor sometimes, the only thing she probably has over Tiffany is musicality and better sense of time. Both of them have really bad coordination often as well. And yeah Sohyun is a pretty solid dancer, her dancing style reminds me somewhat of Taeyeon's. They both execute their movements pretty effortlessly or "chill" as you called it, although both never really go full out on their movements which can be a problem since their moves don't really stand out or aren't as powerful as they are supposed to be at times. In fact, all the 4minute members have this habit of purposely dancing lazily which is a troubling habit tbh (e.g. look what happened to Jessica and Gayoon). What do you think about this ? Ehh, the choreography wasn't technically challenging at all, well I mean Luhan did a basic baby freeze at 0:28 which wasn't really sustained for long enough but the transitioning afterwards was pretty nice. Apart from the noticeable timing issues they both had in the beginning, they were both fine.

Awesome. You are awesome. It seems my assumptions were correct in some sense. Though I expected Yein to be a bit better than the actual result. That's mostly due to Lovelyz fans considering her the second best. She was into gymnastics. What happened to the others? Yes Mijoo is by far the best dancer in the group and Kei is definitely second best. Yein, Jin, Babysoul and Soojung seem to be around the same level with just small differences between them (Yein being the best and Babysoul the worst of the bunch), because they all have nice moments throughout the video but they all also seem pretty inconsistent. And yeah, Jiae is the worst. I was surprised with Yein as well, I thought she would be better since she has studied modern dance, and I analysed her first because she's my bias. But on the flipside, I'm really surprised at how well Kei can dance and she was pretty polished and consistent throughout. Still, I will try my best to complete an analysis of all the girls, even if I am a slow typer and yeah I don't know where the other dance thread peeps are, the thread has been deserted by everyone but me. A Boy Like Troy 3,333
oh really? I thought Kei was better than Jin tbh watching other live performances I've noticed her consistency, but eh Idk. And yeah everyone was unfollowed for some strange reason. Well, tbh, I've never actually paid any attention to Kei's dancing until now lol. I must say that Kei's dancing is very graceful and she's no doubt a great dancer. The only issue that I have noticed, and one of the main reasons why I pushed Jin to the top, is that when the choreography speeds up a little bit (mainly the chorus and ending dance), most of the members tend to struggle lifting their leg up, most likely due to the fast counts. If you notice, even though it's fast paced, Jin executes every move with ease and grace, showing the skill she has over the others, which happens to be stamina. @2:38-2:58 Jin happens to be the only one who is raising her leg up and executing the moves with ease. Even afterwards, she still manages to shake her hips the hardest (great stamina), along with MiJoo, and Kei being a close second. I hate to make it seem as though I'm basing the entire ranking on the chorus dance. I just mainly look at that part of the chorus since it's faster and requires more movements than the verses, therefore showing off a bit more skill. However, you have definitely opened my eyes to Kei's dancing, and I will look at her more during the performances because you may actually be right with her being 2nd or even tied for 3rd with Yein. ____shawnee 4,118
There was a SHINee vs Beast vs INFINITE thread and the hardest question to me was who was best at dancing. After I watched a few videos, I think INFINITE's fluidity and sync impressed me the most. BEAST are great individually (possibly the best?) but their synch is the worst out of the three, and I think it's because (and I noticed this with their singing as well) a few of them try to show out and impress, they kinda perform for themselves rather than as a unit, specifically Kikwang and Hyunseung, plus Dongwoon lacks compared to the others. What I like about Taemin is he knows how to turn it off and play the background, but instantly turn it on when he's the focus again. I feel like SHINee is kind of a middle ground between BEAST and INFINITE. A good mix of sync and individuality. But idk where to place them. I would agree that Infinite as a group has the best sync and fluidity between the 3. BEAST has great individual dancers in Junhyung, Kikwang, and Hyunseung but the other 3 members aren't as good as the former 3. As a group I would rank them 1. Infinite 2. Shinee 3. BEAST. That must be great for Kei, because she's also a good vocalist, so she'll have both singing and dancing down as an idol member. I was honestly more impressed by Jin in the practice video rather than Yein. But since others hyped Yein to be the best dancer after Mijoo, I thought maybe I missed something. But like I said, take your time. I think I have a good idea of their ranks already if my eyes actually picked up certain things, so you don't need that much detail. And it seems help has arrived! On another note, how would this INFINITE rank be close to being correct in terms of dancing? Hoya Dongwoo Woohyun L Sungjong Sunggyu Sungyeol I couldn't make up my mind between L and Sungjong. Sungjong is very sharp and on point, but other than that, I feel L is a bit more well rounded in other areas. However, I've noted by stalking his fancams that he doesn't put much effort in his performances if he's not feeling it (i.e. he's tired). elitin 2,532
Hello! I've been following this thread and even if it is not updated very often your answers are really intereseting so I'll try with my question. I was wondering about BTS V, I know you have discussed BTS before, I know he is fourth and I totally see it. But I think there is something that makes him really stand out and, in my opinion, is the way he performs; his little adlibs, the way he enjoys it and his facial expressions... so my questions is: even though he is fourth within his group how is he in general as a dancer/performer? For example, compared to other considered good dancers in Kpop (like EXO Sehun, Xiumin or others that you may think of) I'll put some videos in spoiler to help judging. Thank you in advance!
