♥SNS-Shinomiya♥ 420
Jessica hasn't showcased a decent performance in a long time and her dance prowess has depreciately greatly as a consequence for her laziness. She is inconsistent on the most basic of movements, her limb movements are weak and are far from precise, she's becoming increasingly more stiff and she hasn't danced a different genre in a long while. The only real redeeming quality to Jessica's dancing is her musicality which is somewhat decent, although it is definitely not as great as before. But overall, she is most definitely not technically on point. do you mind answering my question about why Sunny is on the same level as Seohyun and not Taeyeon

OHuzr 1,383
i don't much about dancing, but I can admit I know what you mean about the precise, her timing is pretty good, but her exceution is lucklaster at least Jessica hasn't showcased a decent performance in a long time and her dance prowess has depreciately greatly as a consequence for her laziness. She doesn't exhibit that same fire she did years ago, and seems to be simply going through the motions. When I look at dancers I look at their skill set, what they're capable of doing, and their execution. Jessica has the skill set and I know what she's capable of doing. Had I seen her recent performances without knowing her background my dance order would probably be different, but because I do know her background I took that into consideration. Qri 4,063
do you mind answering my question about why Sunny is on the same level as Seohyun and not Taeyeon Oh sorry! Well Taeyeon has been improving steadily especially during their Japan Tour and Mr.Mr. and there has been a noticeable improvement in the execution of her movements as well as her musicality. She still has consistency issues but some of her performances have been great and better than Sooyoung's recently. Now Sunny has not improved as much and she really inconsistent during the Mr.Mr. era, and the biggest thing that's letting her down is her lower body movements which are still lacking in control. That's why I'd no longer consider Taeyeon and Sunny to be on the same level. I get where you're both coming from, and I don't disagree with you that Jessica has been lacking in recent performances. I can understand your argument, but I disagree that she is still capable of utilising the skills she once had simply because I don't believe she has those skills anymore. Slacking in dances has become a habit to her, and this will most definitely have taken a toll on her skills because in order to retain her skills, she still needs to practice them and maintain the use of them which she has not done. Btw, thanks for livening up the discussion with this debate, this thread is been pretty dead for a while.
junglove 4,071
Yeah, Jessica is technically on point. When people comment on Jessica's dance they look at her style, but not on how well she executes the movements. She's subtle but precise. She's also a versatile dancer, able to adapt to many genres. Finally someone agrees with me, people tend to confuse her laziness with being technically a lousy dancer. I also don't agree with Kai being a better dancer than Taemin either but that's a different topic. As much as I respect Qri it's good that other people that know about dancing can give a different opinion. To me, it's whether or not she has the heart. Since we're on the subject, when do you think she lost her edge? And NP about the discussion. I just happened to be strolling by and figured to add my 2 cents in. Finally someone agrees with me, people tend to confuse her laziness with being technically a lousy dancer. I agree that she can definitely get back into form, but it would take at the very least months for her to be anywhere near her previous skill level but imo I doubt that she will be very committed to improving her dancing. I think the depreciation of her skills has happened gradually, although post-Genie is really where you start to see Jessica become more inconsistent. I would still put her around Sooyoung/Yoona level during Genie and maybe Oh! (although there isn't really much to go by in this era), but it quite evident that she begins to stop caring about her precision and form during Run Devil Run. Granted, she has managed to keep some of her musicality in tact all these years, but the skill jump backwards is massive. It sort of reminds me of Sulli's skill depreciation (whom I like to call Jessica 2.0.)

Anyway, the quote above in bold basically sums it up. If she didn't already have the skills acquired we wouldn't even be entertaining the thought of her getting back into form. The question IMO is does she want it. Luckily SNSD has extended their contracts with SM for another 3 years, so we'll see during future promotions where her heart is at. I thought about SNSD performances where Jessica stood out in (after Run Devil Run) and "The Great Escape" easily comes to mind. There are a lot of intricate movements and adlibs that made that routine difficult. I haven't seen one promotion of that song where Jessica was sloppy or showed signs of lacking in skill. Her lines were exceptional. IMO of course. Edited September 27, 2014 by OHuzr

Qri 4,063
Could you show me some videos to help understand your point, I thought in thier last SMTOWN performance Sunny was pretty good. Sunny's definitely not bad and she has improved, however Taeyeon's improvement has been a lot more evident as she has started to use dynamics and learned to control her body better. Granted, she is still more inconsistent than Sunny but she has shown a greater capability to utilise her body to suit different styles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ax2g2CexAkw Taeyeon has showcased a really good use of dynamics and her musicality really shone in Karma Butterfly. Sunny also did pretty well in the performances, but it was really HyoYulTae that stood out in these performances. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCpOyJvOPQw Now Sunny and Tae are slightly more even in this performance since Sunny's upper body movements are brilliant here and everyone is kind of slacking, although again, Tae has a good sense of musicality that really helps her movements look very comfortable and clean, even if she's not going all out. You can check their other performances from their latest Japanese tour and that will give you a good idea of their skills.

GPA 2,145
How is Namjoo? I think she's the best dancer in Apink followed by Bomi She's an okay dancer to me. I would say basic but not in a bad way, I mean she's as good as a looot of idols. And I like Hayoung's dancing better tbh, she's good in this Yoncé performance. Bomi and Chorong remain the best I think, not breathtaking dancers. How did Seulgi do here? http://youtu.be/D4EuB0werfE Really good. She's powerful, precise and confident, basically a really good dancer.

I think no one have asked about Red Velvet as a whole group yet, but people here discussed Irene and Seulgi after their version of "Be natural" had been released. Qri 4,063
Oh how I've neglected this thread recently.. so sorry everyone!! QRI! (or any of the other dance people since I'm just assuming Qri is gonna read this cuz he gets excited when someone posts) How is Red Velvet? I tried using the search and Google, but nothing popped up. Red Velvet as a group are pretty good. Wendy is sorta lagging behind the other three tho, but yeah I'd say that she's probably average whilst the others are a lot better, Joy is around the level of Miss A's Suzy and the other two are probs around Yuri's level? Idk, it sort of hard to judge them since it's still early days but I think Seulgi and Irene show a lot of promise, particularly Seulgi because her musicality is great. How is Namjoo? I think she's the best dancer in Apink followed by Bomi She definitely had the best musicality in those performances but in all honesty their execution as a whole was terribly inconsistent in both performances. It's like they were purposely being lazy in some parts and some of the transitions were just really poor. All of them seem unspectacular but maybe it's just those performances. How did Seulgi do here?http://youtu.be/D4EuB0werfE Brilliant execution, brilliant musicality. I have high hopes for this girl. Irene and Seulgi are "god tier" dancers. Joy and Wendy are good dancers. Joy has a lot of potential btw, she's still young. Red Velvet as a whole is "god tier" as well. Haha, I wouldn't go that far since there are a handful of groups that are a lot better than them but yeah they are pretty good.
