What do you guys think of Xuimin?

Xiumin is a nice dancer, definitely the next best dancer after EXO's dance line (Kai/Lay/Luhan/Sehun). Xiumin has shown good precision and dynamics in his dancing and he is very consistent. He also has decent musicality, although not quite as honed as the dance line, and Xiumin would definitely need to work on his stage presence and ability to draw in the audience if he wished to improve.

GIVE ME YO OPINION

That was a good performance. I would say that Kasper and Eunhyuk performed better than Won. Kasper displayed the most clean and precise performance, whereas Eunhyuk performed the best in terms of musicality. Won slightly suffered from half-assery when he wasn't in the middle (sort of like what Sulli and HyunA do) so he only truly outshone the other two @1:07 where for a short time he displayed the best musicality. The performance was overall really nice, although those spins at the end were off (Idek what kind of mess).

Really? I always thought Xiumin was part of the dance line. Well he has very good potential to be part of the dance line. IMO I think he should be.

:O I thought Xiu has pretty good stage presence. He's a ball of energy and playful on stage. I thought he's pretty good at interacting with the audience. He's definitely heading in the right direction when it comes to performing, but he's just not technically as skilled as the dance line. He can't do intricate, complicated, and subtle dance moves. He always gives 110% in his dance and tends to exaggerate, which is good for some dances, but other times he tends to over do it XD. But he is precise in that he'd look in the mirror and make sure every move looks good: from his facial expression to his fingertips.

I find Xiumin and Sehun to be the exact opposite in terms of dancing XP

Can anyone tell me some cool dances for my kpop remix? There's a dance contest in two months and I wanted to prepare something awesome  :ahmagah:  Well I have some songs I've already thought of: INFINITE's Back, Taemin's Danger, Beast's Good Luck, C-Clown's Justice and BTS' Danger. Please give me some ideas, something related to these, you know, dark concept and bad guy image  :datass:  Preferably this year songs, if possible. Oh, I wanted to wait and see if B.A.P and Teen Top's comebacks are worth it, I think those choreographies will be amazing!

That's quite an impressive list OP!  :)

    • B-boying: B-boying is a popular style of street dance that generally consists of four types of movment: toprock, downrock, power moves and freezes.
    • Break Dance: Break dance is a style of street dance that originated in New York City during the early 1970s.

A slight correction if I may.   :)

"B-Boying" and "Break Dance" refer to the same thing.  The difference is that "B-Boying" is the correct term giving by the people rooted in the dance and Hip-Hop culture.  The term "Break Dance" was a name giving by the media (and many enthusiasts consider it to be the derogatory form to describe the dance).

A bit of info:  The "B" in "B-Boying" stands for "break".  B-Boys used to favor dancing during the break (instrumental) parts of a song, hence the name "Break-Boy" (shortened to B-Boy). "Breaking" was also another term used in place of "B-Boying".  In the chance of confusion, both terms can be used ("B-Boying/Breaking").

I know earlier in the thread you guys said Taemin wasn't very precise anymore. Do you think he fixed that here? What are his good and bad points?

Yeah he is quite precise here although there were a number of moments where his feet movements were too fast by half a step or so. The problem is that he lacks consistency between performances because he has to balance his singing as well. What truly shines in this performance though is his musicality, man that has improved so much! His dancing is so comfortable and it flows very well.

I always thought kai and taemin were on the same level....Don't you guys think Kai is overshadowed by Taemin here? Kai looks a bit awkward there too.

That stage isn't the best source of judgement since Taemin was half-assing and his solo choreo was more difficult than Kai's, but Kai did do better in that performance. Now generally, Kai has better precision and his dance style is very articulate, whilst Taemin has the upper hand with musicality. However, Kai is still the better dancer overall purely because of consistency and Taemin has been gradually getting more inconsistent as time passes.

really? I'm actually impressed with Taemin's danger performances

I felt kai was a bit stiff there.

Yeah Taemin did well there... but at the expense of his vocals.

Kai wasn't stiff per se, but I agree that Taemin was more fluid.

I actually think he did better during his second week of promotions when he had to sing live than during his week.

1st week (lipsync)

2nd-3rd week (live-singing)

(best stage overall imo)

(he was struggling a bit here with singing)

As for his last few stages...I'm not too sure what he was doing but he made some changes to the dance....they look less energetic? but still just as precise as he was during week 1-2.(live-singing)

"Taemin has been gradually getting more inconsistent as time passes"

By this do you mean that he doesn't try as often....? or that he's still inconsistent even when he tries?

Also, I always thought Kai had better musicality? People always talk about how Kai's dancing is a work of art/how he connects to the song to tell a story through his dance....or is that different from musicality?

How did he do here? He was taking it easy though since it wasn't an actual recording :)

Well by inconsistent I mean he doesn't try as hard as often, but as this gradually becomes a habit, even when he does try his moves simply aren't as precise anymore. I mean, it not a horrible decrease in skill (like Sulli or Jessica) but it is still noticeable.

Now in terms of musicality, a lot of it has to do with the choreography Taemin and Kai are given as well as experience. Taemin has generally showcased a better understanding of music because it quite evident that not only Rino has had a massive influence, but also the improvement of his vocals have led to him gain a wider scope. The way he performs also speaks a lot more to the audience. Conversely, Kai also has wonderful musicality however, it is very apparent when a type of dance does not particularly suit him. Junglove mentioned previously that he appears quite "stiff" in some performances with Taemin and whilst I clarified that it wasn't stiffness per se, a lot of that perception does have to do with Kai's musicality. Kai performs, but he performs for himself and this is very apparent in most of his performances, which is why it becomes blatantly obvious when a particular dancing style isn't his forte.

Thank you for the thorough explanation:)

I really hope he starts trying harder like he used to pre-sherlock era...but with the way their schedules are I really don't see that happening. I think his dancing hasn't deteriorated since 2012....or has it? I know that in comparison to 2008-2011 there is a difference, but he seems quite consistent with the level he's been showcasing since 2012.

Just wanted to share, but this is one of the best I've seen Seohyun dance, she by far outshined Taeny during the Adreline performance. I still wouldn't place her above Sunny or Taeyeon just yet since she was kind of inconsistent in the Holler performance and Taeyeon did better in that perf, but I'm glad to see her improving!

Thank you for the thorough explanation:)

His precision has been getting worse, but his musicality has been improving so I would say that he's about the same level, if not slightly worse.

Xiumin's a ball of energy and Sehun... isn't XP. But he still has that chillax groove. That hiphop feel and fluidity (lol idk what im saying im no expert). Which honestly i don't think xiumin can do. I also said xiumin can't do intricate dance moves, so in opposite sehun can. Especially with his feet and hands. Technically Sehun is a better dancer but I think Xiu is more of a performer.  Xiumin perfects his movements in front of the mirror, Sehun goes by feel.

So I really meant opposite XD.
