Is Hyorin a good dancer?

Yes, her and Bora appear around the same skill level.

It's a shame that most Sistar dances aren't very well choreographed to show off their skills.

Yes, Hyorin is definitely a great dancer. I will say that Hyorin is the best dancer in the group. I'll disagree with azuxingmi and say that Bora isn't that good compared to Hyorin. I don't really follow SISTAR so I can't exactly be definite about the Bora and Hyorin comparison, but I've always noticed Hyorin's dancing skills being really good.

You could be right about Hyorin being better than Bora. It's because Hyorin carries Sistar vocal-wise, so her dancing is often compensated for her singing. Whereas Bora doesn't have many parts in Sistar songs so she is able to focus more on the dancing throughout performances.

I personally think SISTAR's dances are perfectly fine. I'm a fan of their dances. Give it to me was the only one that isn't good, but I think their precious dances are amazing. They really give off this sexy vibe.

I just think that some of their dances are really simple, but I understand since they go well with their songs.

Just wanna ask who is better, Yoona or Sooyoung?

Both have displayed excellent musicality and precision. Sooyoung's stature is slightly a hinderance but she makes up for it by having excellent control of her body. Yoona's hip movements look slightly better than Sooyoung's because her her hips are wider. But, Yoona is sometimes lacking in stage presence - that's not to say she doesn't have any, but she doesn't do as much to draw attention to herself in comparison to the rest of the dance line. Sooyoung has also been focusing a lot more on her singing than her dancing which will possibly affecting her dancing in the future and she's already started to get more lines in recent songs.

 

Overall, I'd argue that they're even and I think others would agree with me, but it does vary between performances.

Yoona is more sharp and accurate, right? And she is also very graceful. Sooyoung's charisma is great though.

Both have shown very good technical accuracy, but Yoona has been more consistent than Sooyoung I'd say.

Yoona's dancing really appeals to me, it's so precise, her hip movements are amazing especially when she's doing the cobra dance. She's so hot! Sooyoung on the other hand has amazing charisma that makes me go crazy for her especially when she flips her hair. Anyway for me YoonSoo>Yuri.

I'd say it's Yuri > Yoona/Sooyoung tbh.

Yuri has the edge over Yoona and Sooyoung with her natural sex appeal and she looks more comfortable when dancing than them. Yuri is similar to Hyoyeon in the sense that they both make the dances look effortless and are both able to change the dynamics of a dance to suit their own respective styles, something that Sooyoung has done to a lesser extent but Yoona has yet to really show.

It was a solid performance. Both displayed good musicality both looked completely comfortable dancing. The choreography wasn't too difficult and both performed well.

Krystal's main issue was that she fiddled with her hair too much and she has a bad habit of looking at the floor too often. She also needs to do more with her face since there were times where she looked bored.

Victoria's performance was a tad more solid than Krystal's. Her moves were slightly sharper and she constantly had her eyes on the audience. She also had slightly better control with her legs than Krystal. However, 0:26 - 0:30 looked kind of awkward.

Who is a better dancer: Taemin or Eunhyuk? and why?

Taemin. He has better control of his body, is generally more fluid, and is more consistent. Taemin is also a lot less limited when it comes to dancing types in comparison to Eunhyuk and has experimented with a lot of different styles. The only thing that Eunhyuk has over Taemin is that he is better suited to performing choreography with sharper moves and he's a better freestyler. Eunhyuk is a bit of a half-asser at times too. They are both really strong dancers though.

 

Who is better, Sehun or Luhan?

Could you please elaborate? 

Luhan has showcased better technical accuracy of movements, better control of his body and is less stiff. Luhan is tied as the 2nd best dancer in Exo with Lay since they're more or less around the same level (for different reasons).

Sehun has a big issue with cutting off moves and lacking in hip movements. Although Sehun has shown good musicality, he's a big half-asser thus making him a pretty inconsistent dancer. Whilst he appeared to be one of the stronger dancers during their debut, he's been taking a back seat recently to the point where even Kris has been dancing better than him in performances. He's basically pulling a Jessica lol.

 

How would you rate Chris Brown?

Excellent dancer, with great musicality and great control of his body. He kinda appears to lack in energy at times tho.

Please forgive me for butting in,  I love both Kahi and Boa, so I thought I'd post my favourite dance videos of them.

Real treat starts at 1.35, during first minute she just fools around and tries to be cute.

Love her interpretation of MJ's music. Her body lines are almost neurosurgically precise in this one.

 

For Boa I'd go with her MVs, choreos for her lives are kinda toned down because of singing.

I checked out other videos as well and looked them both up and I'd say that BoA is the better dancer. BoA has shown better technical accuracy and body control, but Kahi is shown to be more versatile and have better musicality as shown through choreographing AS dances. They are both really good but BoA is better.

Is Kai the best male dancer in SM?

No, Yunho and Taemin are better than him. But he'll probably overtake them considering Yunho's no longer at his peak and Taemin's been focusing more on his vocals than his dancing.

 

What makes BoA and Kahi better than Hyoyeon? I thought Hyoyeon is more versatile and powerful? And Hyo is better in Hip-hop and Ballroom dances than them right?

Actually I think it's BoA > Hyoyeon/Kahi. BoA is the most technically accurate, and best body control agility out of the three. Hyoyeon is the most versatile out of the three, and has better control of her body than Kahi,  but is the most prone to mistakes. Kahi has the best musicality out of the three but lacks agility in comparison to the other two. What Kahi and Hyoyeon do have over BoA is better facial expressions. Tbh, I'm sure Hyoyeon will overtake Kahi because Hyoyeon has been showing improvement, particularly in her versatility and body control.

And yes, I think Hyoyeon's the only one out of the three to have performed ballroom and latin dances to a technically advanced level.

How do you judge someone's musicality?

It's basically how a dancer "feels" the music and how good their rhythm is. It can be judged by how well they freestyle, how well their self-choreographed dances fit to the music, how comfortable they look dancing, the extra gestures they add to their moves, etc.

Min. She is stronger in pretty much all aspects over Minzy.

 

I judge by how they are able to physically express the music. This has a lot to do with the choreography they are given but most choreographers will put certain moves at certain parts that go well with the music and I judge the dancer on how they hear these parts of the music and if they make a it a point to emphasize these parts with their bodies. Also, I look at how they fill out the music. If it is a slow song do they hold out a move until that next note hits or do they disregard like the last two seconds and start on the next move early (a good example is, there is a part in f(x)'s rppp choreo where they have their arms out and draw them in as they come into a line. Vic is the only one who fully utilizes the time they have to pull their arms in before doing the next move).

I used to think that Bora and Hyorin were on the same level but after watching a load of their videos, I can say that Hyorin is definitely a better dancer than Bora in pretty much every aspect (Hyorin is more accurate, more consistent, has better stage presence, more versatile, has better body control etc.)

Ah yes i thought so too, Hyorin seems to be so much more confident and at ease with her body, it's funny because Starship said she wasn't a very good dancer when they took her in, but a few dance class unlocked her potential they say. I personally LOVE the way she dances, it's always on point and I feel like she has a wonderful sense of rythm. She always know when to do THAT face or add the extra move to enhance the choreography. I have yet to see her make a mistake too. Like seriously I've been fan of SISTAR since pre debut and it hasn't happened yet lol. I feel like Bora can do "more" as she's trained, but her execution tends to be sloppy.

If Bora really can do "more" she definitely hasn't shown it lol. Bora is closer to Soyu in terms of skill than Hyorin tbh, and Soyu could potentially be as good if not better than Bora if she becomes less of a half-asser and more consistent.

What do you guys think of Tia of Chocolat? I know it seems like she overdoes it sometimes, but I found that she has toned it down lately.  She's still 16 though, I think she's got potential.

I'm not very familiar with Chocolat, but from that video Tia did pretty good. She overdid those hairflips tho and she needs to work on her dynamics.

She does seem the most enthusiastic about dancing and she's definitely got potential so it'll be interesting to see how much she improves in the future.

Hey, we're the one's who know about dance here, not you. If you do disagree with the rankings, then at least try to back up your argument respectfully. And yes, Kris does perform better than D.O since he has improved unless you have a few recent videos to show us otherwise.

Well part of dance is enthusiasm and ability to draw in the audience, which is something that Tiffany always does (even if she's as stiff as a log lol) whilst Jessica doesn't. Jessica is a shrivelling ball of potential (best analogy I could think of).

 

Can you please rank SNSD, Miss A, and Sistar's dance line. Like put them in order from best to least.

SNSD: Hyoyeon > Yuri > Yoona /> Sooyoung > Taeyeon/Sunny/Seohyun > Jessica /> Tiffany

Miss A: Min > Jia > Fei > Suzy

Sistar: Hyorin > Bora > Soyu/Dasom

how did they do, pros and cons?

Well with Sooyoung, there's not really much to judge since the dance is pretty simple. She danced well as usual but she did have to pull down what she was wearing a number of times.

Now Sunny's Bloom performance was great! She showcased her sex appeal, her moves were very well executed and she didn't look uncomfortable. It was very enjoyable to watch.

The gap between Taeyeon, Sunny and Seohyun is pretty small but they're all pretty much the same level.

Seohyun performs with the most accuracy out of the three, but looks awkward and uncomfortable a lot of the time and she lacks stage presence. Sunny shows the most enthusiasm, does her best to draw attention from the audience and has shown the most improvement, but has the least control of her body particularly her limbs. Taeyeon has the best control of her body, has the best natural stage presence, decent musicality and looks the most comfortable. She's just a half-asser and dancing is obviously not her priority.

Oh because I thought it is self explanatory and we all have our eyes and who are you to say that "we're the one's who know about dance and not you" how big of a head you have..are you a professional choreographer? ...Oh come on why not look at the Exo dubstep video?

I apologise, I didn't mean to come across as big headed, but this thread is a place where users who know their stuff answer your questions. And it's not as if any of the EXO members are bad dancers, they are all better than average. I just watched the EXO dubstep intro video and they all did well (Kai did the best and Chanyeol did the worst from what I could tell).
