Yeah Sunny's not a bad dancer, but she definitely needs practice.

In the first video she was the most enthusiastic but she was also too jumpy.

@ 0:27 She really had no control of her legs lol.

In the second video, she made the most mistakes and had problems keeping in time (@ 0:34, 1:18, 1:23, 1:29 and 1:59). Also @ 1:35 she wasn't relaxed and her popping was too excessive.

I think she has improved some since them, my problem with Sunny aside from the technical portion is that its not always often to see her really into a dance but not try and go overboard

Eh...I suppose she is. I think the problem is that she's not exactly consistent throughout the full 16-count cobra dance.

1st Four Count- It's nice that she jumped into it, but her hips were very stiff.

2nd Four Count- It's good that she used her arms and chest to guide her hips, but she didn't put enough unf to make her hips stand out, like they're supposed to.

3rd/4th Four Count- Both fine.

We are finally pinned in The Lobby~

yeah I just thought it was a lot better and at least a step in the right direction..before we didn't see much hip work at all.

CONGRATS!!!!!

Lay reminds me of Yoona where he does the dance the way it supposed to but doesn't seem to improve a little, he didn't seem as loose as Kai and Hyoyeon but I liked that his moves look clean. Hyoyeon looked the most comfortable she was the best to me. Kai was lose (and confortable) and did what looked like some improve but it didn't look as clean as Hyoyeon or Lay....but i am no expert

That was a really good performance. I'll do a super quick breakdown of each of them

Lay lacked the stage presence that Kai and Hyoyeon had; he has a tendency to look at the floor when he dances, which thankfully I don't think he did as often as he usually does in this particular performance but his facial expressions were lacking at some points. His body wasn't as loose or fluid as the other two either, but I don't think that that's down to a lack of flexibility, but rather for stylistic purposes, since his body is a little more fluid than Kai's at times towards the end of the performance. He does slip up I think a couple of times at the beginning and he did look awkward at one point in the dance as well, but overall it was a good performance and his moves were solid and clean-cut.

Kai had really good stage presence and was enjoyable to watch. His facial expressions were good and he was really feeling the music. His was body was fluid throughout most of the performance and he made the least mistakes out of the three. However, he did slip up a little with his hand gestures I think twice and at times it felt like he was changing up the dynamics of the dance a tad too much (this was done for stylistic purposes but I think it would have been better if he didn't). Otherwise, it was a good performance as well.

Hyoyeon performed the best out of the three. She had the most stage presence and definitely looked the most comfortable. She made the dance look effortless and although all three did make their dance their own, Hyoyeon did so in a way that was arguably better than the other two. However, she did fiddle with her hair too much, which caused her to stop midway between her hand gestures at times and she had a minor loss of footing around the middle of the dance. Overall, Hyoyeon did have the best flow out of the three, and looked the most natural throughout the dance as well.

So I'd rank them as Hyoyeon > Kai > Lay which is unsurprising, since technique and experience-wise Hyoyeon has the edge over the other two, although she is quite prone to making mistakes as well. Lay just needs to be a lot more comfortable plus get into the habit of using his face to express the dance and Kai needs to work on the way he decides to play with the dynamics of his movements.

Btw sorry, this is kind of rushed and I only watched the video three times (once for each person I was focusing on). Plus, it's difficult to judge guys.

   so i wasn't so off....that means I am  learning

SNSD: Hyoyeon > Yuri > Yoona /> Sooyoung > Taeyeon/Sunny/Seohyun > Jessica /> Tiffany

Well with Sooyoung, there's not really much to judge since the dance is pretty simple. She danced well as usual but she did have to pull down what she was wearing a number of times.

Now Sunny's Bloom performance was great! She showcased her sex appeal, her moves were very well executed and she didn't look uncomfortable. It was very enjoyable to watch.

thanks for the reply about the videos!  Why is Sunny in front of Seohyun?

Ok :)

Seohyun performs with the most accuracy out of the three, but looks awkward and uncomfortable a lot of the time and she lacks stage presence. Sunny shows the most enthusiasm, does her best to draw attention from the audience and has shown the most improvement, but has the least control of her body particularly her limbs. Taeyeon has the best control of her body, has the best natural stage presence, decent musicality and looks the most comfortable. She's just a half-asser and dancing is obviously not her priority.

...yes I can see why the may be ranked quite equal

Hi guys .

So I’ve been enoying reading all of the pages cause next to dancing & watching dance, I love discussing dance!  I wanted to post her before but I like how you are all very observational and extenisive with your wording and I’m not really like that and not confident with my English hehehe.

I find myself agreeing with alot of your reasoning but then sometimes disagreeing with your conclusions. I think it has to do with different view of aspects of dance that I think is more or less important, so I wanted to give my two cents on those, if you don’t mind.

In a group of good dancers I find musicality KEY in differentiating the best from the rest. A dancer’s ability to ‘feel’ the music (like you guys described), natural sense of rhythm, gives a (given) choreography more life by ‘coloring’ it better. This dancer would catch my eye/the audience's.

A not-so musical dancer can be great technically, hitting on the given beat perfectly, but performance wise it is too ‘step-driven’ with no own interpretation. Dancing on top of the music rather than inside the music. It's good, but not that great.

Therefore I find Boa the lesser dancer than Hyoyeon/Kahi and Sehun the better dancer than Luhan. Eventhough our observation on musicality is the same :)

There are other aspects as well which I find important. Hyoyeon more versatile and I find her a hard hitter.

This one is probably really unpopular but Sehun may be half assing sometimes that does not takes away his musicality, his low center and body control. After that ‘lazy’ comment remark he definitely stepped up his game and is def better than Kris, although Kris improved heaps. Also I think Luhan is still a good dancer, he’s energetic and excecutes the choreo well.

You should do the standard ranking? SNSD, Shinee, EXO, 2NE1, After School. I know very little about dance but I love reading and learning.
