GPA 2,145
Could you rank current After School? I'd say the top 3 is Jungah > Nana > Uee xD yap jungah > nana> e-young tbh (she gave her all, her body language did match the dance, she was more fluid than uee, she kinda out shined uee tbh) > Uee >>Raina> maknae >Juyeon> Lizzy (must have been because of her injury) I think Nana is the best now. She has gained so much charisma, power and precision since Flashback era. She also has an excellent body language, her hips moves are smooth as f. Jungah used to be excellent (she still is tho) but Nana is clearly the best to me. ^ Look at the difference between Nana and Jungah. My current ranking is Nana = E-Young (she's a BEAST in Flashback dance practice) > Jungah (amazing pole dance skills) > Kaeun/Uee > Raina (she's GOOD for a main vocalist) > Jooyeon > Lizzy. GPA 2,145
My favorites are Kyle Hanagami, NappyTabs, Parris Goebel, Kevin Maher, Jonte and Jermaine Browne.
GPA 2,145
Jimin/J-Hope > Jungkook > V/Suga > Jin > Rap Monster imo. It's really difficult to rank them since they are excellent (Jimin/J-Hope) or really good (V/Suga). :/
GPA 2,145
Hyo and Yoona were the best. Overall this is just boring imo, they didn't even try.
GPA 2,145
Can you guys rank the members of Team B/iKon? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yyIkD0m8F0 Something like B.I / Junhoe > Jinhwan >= Donghyuk / Bobby > Yunhyung > the 3 newbies (need more practice). B.I and Junhoe are very powerful + great accuracy of movements. Jinhwan, Donghyuk and Bobby are on the same level, I would say Jinhwan is more consistent than the two others. Bobby is energetic but lacks of technique imo. Yunhyung is really good as well. The whole team is amazing btw ! How good is the dance line from SNSD? Hyoyeon (obviously) > Yoona > Yuri > Sooyoung I think. (Personal ranking : Hyo > Yuri > Sooyoung > Yoona). Yoona is a really greaaaat technician, Yuri has an amazing body control/language, Sooyoung is the "worst" (still a strong dancer ofc) when it comes to dance but her stage presence makes her more interesting than Yoona imo. GPA 2,145
It's interesting you place Yoona above Yuri although I would strongly disagree; Yuri has much more control over body, and has shown to be a lot more comfortable in general. Yuri is also able to use and play with the dynamics of her movements in order to suit her style, which Yoona appears to have very little knowledge of or she is too shy to try (the latter seems more feasible to me, since Yoona also showcases a few bad habits that show she isn't quite comfortable with her skills.) So overall, I'd Yoona has an issue with her confidence, which really limits what she can showcase as dancer, since I know she capable of improving her musicality, but she seems hesitant to do so despite being a really strong technical dancer. Yuri is clearly the more capable dancer, because she has managed to show a better understanding of dance by using the control of her body to her advantage. Yeah maybe you're right, I'm not an EXPERT anyway. ^^ From what I have seen, Yoona's moves seem more accurate than Yuri's. She's a really good "choreography executor" (technically wise). I have to agree when you say Yuri is better at everything else, especially great versatility and high confidence. Confidence is really important to me, that's why I think Sooyoung is way more interesting than Yoona.
GPA 2,145
How is Namjoo? I think she's the best dancer in Apink followed by Bomi She's an okay dancer to me. I would say basic but not in a bad way, I mean she's as good as a looot of idols. And I like Hayoung's dancing better tbh, she's good in this Yoncé performance. Bomi and Chorong remain the best I think, not breathtaking dancers. How did Seulgi do here? http://youtu.be/D4EuB0werfE Really good. She's powerful, precise and confident, basically a really good dancer.
GPA 2,145
Irene and Seulgi are "god tier" dancers. Joy and Wendy are good dancers. Joy has a lot of potential btw, she's still young. Red Velvet as a whole is "god tier" as well. 2
GPA 2,145
Hi can you guys tell me what your ranking would be on the Sonamoo girls? Sumin = suspenders Minjae = black skirt D.Ana = Ripped Jeans Nahyun = shorts with white pokadots Eujin = blue sweater tied around her neck High.D = bangs NewSun = blue sweatshirt thank you in advance something like : Euijin > Sumin > Nahyun > D.ana > High.D > New Sun > Minjae Sumin was really good in this dance practice tbh, same for Euijin (she remains the best for me). Btw the choreo is really cute !
GPA 2,145
Am I the only one who thinks Hyorin is better than Bora when it comes to dance routines? It's like Bora is focusing on getting the steps right and the rhythm when Hyorin looks like she's having fun. She always has the appropriate attitude and gesture. Here for instance at 2:49 (love Soyou's head move btw 2:51, nice little touch) I think Hyorin is better too ^^ Both are obviously great dancers but Hyorin has a better body language, her moves are sharp, smooth and powerful which is a really good thing (to have these 3 qualities). Plus just like you said she's way more expressive and charismatic imo. Bora is good too ocf but I think she kinda lack of fluidity and she looks uncomfortable sometimes. Still good tho. Sistar's routines don't require a lot of technique so it's pretty tough to say who's the better technician. I would say Hyorin, she's more regular. GPA 2,145
I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but who do you think are the best dancers from female rookie groups? And which groups have the best dancers as an average? Including Mamamoo, Lovelyz, Red Velvet, GFriend, Sonamoo, and any others that I may have missed For me : Top ; Really good dancer ; Good dancer ; Good/Basic ; Boring/Basic ; Bad 1. Red Velvet [Irene >= Seulgi > Yeri (still young but a LOT of potential, she's already really good tho) > Joy > Wendy (depends on the routine lol)] (...... ..... ... ..) 2. Sonamoo/Lovelyz [Euijin/Sumin > Nahyun > D.ana > High.D > New Sun > Minjae Mijoo > Yein > Kei > Jin (she was the best along with Mijoo during CJL era imo but she was kind of bland during Hi era...) > Sujeong > Baby Soul > Jiae] > Lovelyz is better as a group imo but Sonamoo's routines are harder and Euijin/Sumin/Nahyun are the best out of these two groups. 4. G-Friend [SinB > Yerin > Umiji > Eunha/Sowon > Yuju] 5. Mamamoo [Whee In > Moon Byul/Solar > Hwasa] It's too early to compare CLC with other gg lol, they all can dance tho and the level seems really good. [Seungyeon > Yeeun > Yujin > Sorn > Seunghee] 3
GPA 2,145
Thanks for your replies! Btw GPA, could WheeIn maybe be classified as a top? I mean, I don't know much about dancing at all, but this video shows that she's pretty good, plus it's been acknowledged that she can freestyle (1;50) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLK-WXCbh3w but then again idk much about dancing Also, do you think Seulgi has the potential to become better than Irene at dancing? And about Jin being a good dancer, I watched her cover of IGAB on Weekly Idol, and her moves seemed a bit...lacking? Maybe she's just good at pulling off practiced choreography https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDgErmhitEI (4;10) (4;46) sorry for all the questions lol For me 'Top' is an amazing dancer : sharp and smooth moves, great musicality, pull off sophisticated choreos etc. Whee In is a really good dancer but she's nowhere near Irene's level imo, Irene is better in every areas.. (and so is Seulgi). About Jin, she's a good dancer (Cf. Candy Jelly Love dance practice) but she seems to be irregular. Mijoo, Yein, Kei (and Sujeong sometimes) are definitely better. GPA 2,145
I disagree with Irene being better than Seulgi. Seulgi has the better musicality and Irene has better execution. Seulgi does better in the Automatic performances whilst Irene is doing better in the ICC performances. Irene is more consistent because she sings less parts, but Seulgi is more fluid and seamless with her movements. Overall, they are at least even, but Seulgi definitely does better than Irene when she doesn't have sing live (it affects her stamina and therefore her execution), so Seulgi /> Irene. This reminds me of the Victoria/Luna dilemma people were having, Victoria having better musicality and fluidity, but Luna having stronger execution and consistency. And I wouldn't say that Yeri is stronger than Joy just yet, because although her movements are strong and she is a well balanced dancer, she is still quite inconsistent and prone to mistakes. I have no doubt though that by the time Yeri reaches Joy's age, she'll be better than Joy is currently, because she has a lot of potential. We have really yet to see what Mijoo is capable of, the choreography that Lovelyz have been given has been way too easy for her and I really want to them tap into Mijoo's potential because her dancing is criminally wasted with the choreo. Yeah it's really difficult to rank Seulgi and Irene, Irene is better during live performances (mostly cause she doesn't sing that much like you said) but overall Seulgi is better, she was incredible in the Be Natural video. Same for Yeri, it's difficult cause she's so so young lol. (sorry for the dp) Edited March 22, 2015 by GPA
GPA 2,145
After School's latest performances : 140531 Fanmeet http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2k9ezt_after-school-japan-fanmeeting-2014-part-2_music Must watch > Flashback 5:00, Heaven 15:15, Rock it! 21:30 Japan Tour (November 2014) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2HnX_Osyy4 The dance line is really goooood ! Nana, E-Young and Jungah are definitely amazing dancers : effortless precision and power, great musicality, expression and stage presence + Nana's hips moves are LIFE, she can do whatever she wants with her hips (The Dress To Kill performance!!!!). Uee and Kaeun are also really good. Lizzy got better too, she's still stiff af but her execution is good. The fanmeet performances are my faves, the synchronization was nearly perfect. GPA 2,145
Lol, I only watched the Dress to Kill performance, and I have to agree that the performance is really good. I don't know what it is about it, but I really enjoy it. It's probably because they're all so beautiful and their sexy gazes are just so flawless. Yes, but the dance line has always been good for this group from what I have seen. E-Young is my favorite member mainly because of her dancing ability. If you haven't seen this, then here's another performance in which the dance line (plus Raina) performs. This performance is really good too, and it's mainly because they know how to work the stage, Yeah I know this performance, these hairflips are gold lol. And E-Young is my favorite dancer in AS along with Nana, she's really underrated. People only think of her as 'the girl who's playing 10 instruments in AS' but she's also an amazing dancer. She's everything in this performance (+ Nana) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kzSu4cmP1k @0:35 werk it girl. (lol just look lizzy at the right, the girl is strugglin). I also think Raina is underrated. I mean of course she's not a top dancer but she's good, AS fans think she's the worst of the group but she's 10 times better than Lizzy imo. Lizzy is the black hole, she's sooo stiff. She became a mess after Kahi's departure. Jooyeon was a black hole too but not because of her skills, just because she was super lazy. GPA 2,145
Wow, Lizzy really is stiff. Omg. She used to be my favorite member back in the Bang/Shampoo era, but I have not noticed how stiff she is. In Flashback, she seemed good tho. I remember a specific fancam of her dancing fine, but then again, I don't consider Flashback moves to be anything complex. I never pay attention to Raina lol, but yeah in the Crazy Driver performance she was decent. One issue that I have with After School though is that the dances for their Japanese music always look a mess. It looks like they don't really have enough practice with each dance and the dance moves themselves just look wacky. I don't know lol. Ever since their release of Dress to Kill, they've started going from a unique dance group to a common pose group. I hate to say this because I really do enjoy their music, but it's mainly in their Japanese performances. It's just a lot of strutting and posing and it just makes me eager for a Korean comeback because that's where they bring back the fire. It's to the point where the members who are great dancers tend to stand out a bit more because they know how to give the strutting and the posing energy, even without doing anything lol. Don't get me wrong, as their are some great dances for some of their Japanese releases, but the majority is just lackluster. I don't mean to offend though. It's just something that I wanted to mention since we were on the topic of After School. Actually it's true, they don't practice that much for Japanese activities. For example they went to Japan at the beginning of November 2014 (for the Japan tour) to start practicing for the concerts at the end of the month... they have barely practiced lol. In comparison to AS, SM groups spend like 5/6/7 months practicing. I still love those choreos tho : + Heaven. Fortunately they practice way more for Korean comebacks.
