ようこそ~

Use this thread to ask for help with your Japanese homework, help with kanji, ask for translations of things, or just have conversations in Japanese!

~Helpful Study Resources~

Dictionaries

http://www.csse.mona.../wwwjdic.cgi?1C

http://www.japanesedictionary.org/

http://www.angelfire...lang/jibiki.htm

http://jisho.org/

The third link is a list of slang words that you may hear often, but may not necessarily be in the regular dictionary.

Hiragana Charts

Katakana Charts

Kanji

Translators

http://translate.google.com

http://www.microsofttranslator.com/

Please be aware that while these are translators, they do not provide accurate translations. The translations provided are either way too literal, or in some cases completely wrong. If you don't understand something, your best option is to ask someone in this thread. Use a translator as your last resort. ^^;

Romaji Converters

Helpful Learning Software

Rosetta Stone (Japanese Ver.)

http://jiten.net/

Can help you with keeping up with words, kanji, hiragana etc on what you're currently learning. It will save the words that you are having trouble memorizing and when you want to revise, it will be saved there.

If anyone knows more sites that should be added to the resource list, let me know! Or if there are any other questions about something, ask away!

(Copied from the original Hallyu8 thread. Credit to Shik for adding more links to the list! ^^)

I've been using that site since last year, it's very good. And it's only like $5/month.

Speaking of kanji learning, wanikani by tofugu.com is pretty good too. I only tried it as a free user though, but they have an active community and the way they make up stories for you to remember kanji, it's much more fun than Heisig's RTK.

That is, if you're lazy to review your Anki decks like me.

So is this a good thread to learn Japanese?

I can't teach you if that's what you're asking, but if you want to know how to say things I can help with that. ^^; My advice would be to try and find a class you can take with people you can practice with in person. It helps to actually speak the language when you're learning.

I'm not sure what category to put this under. Maybe dictionry?

I was there once. I feel your pain. がんばれ~

はじめまして。アディンタイケと申します。

僕は年前から独学で日本語を勉強していますが、今でもまだ苦手です。もし間違ったいたら、教えてください。

2年前僕はアイドルが大好きなんですが、アイドル番組を観たときに、全然わからないです。そこから、「あっ日本語を勉強しなきゃ」と思いました。最近、お笑い番組にはまっているんです。
