there are anime for tales  :wth: i thought it was only a game.

The Tales Of series have a lot of animated works: Our games have been animated before, the last one was Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike. I recommend watching it! (It's a movie). You don't have to know or have played Tales of Vesperia to play/watch along. Of course, you'll be missing out on hidden "easter eggs" (kinda). Tales of Abyss and Tales of Symphonia also had an animated series. Tales of Phantasia had an OVA (pretty sure along with Tales of Eternia).

ahhh i see thank you, can you please list all the tales games and anime if you can please that would mean a lot to me because i am trying to break to tales series and i don't know how or which game should i start with,do you need to play the old games to understand the new ones?

Sorry for the late reply I didn't see this...

You don't need to play the older games to understand the newer ones, unless you start with a sequel which I doubt you will. It also depends on what consoles you own.....my very first TALES game was Tales Of Phantasia(the very first TALES game), and that was on the gameboy advance (when I played it). Here's the list (in order):

  • Tales of Phantasia
  • Tales of Destiny
  • Tales of Eternia (renamed TALES OF DESTINY 2 in north american release...no idea why)
  •  Tales of Destiny 2 (renamed as TALES OF ETERNIA in north american release, they just messed up)
  • Tales of Symphonia (people claim its the most popular)
  • Tales of Rebirth
  •  Tales of Legendia
  • Tales of the Abyss
  •  Tales of Innocence
  • Tales of Vesperia
  • Tales of Hearts
  • Tales of Graces
  •  Tales of Xillia
  • Tales of Xillia 2
  • Tales of Zestiria (not out yet)

Animes/OVAS:

  • Tales of Eternia: The Animation

    • Loosely based on game.
  • Tales of Phantasia: The Animation

  • Tales of Symphonia: The Animation

    • Final Episode unreleased.
  • Tales of the Abyss

  • Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike

What  I recommend is playing either Tales of the Abyss and or Tales Of Vesperia first . Its usually on PLAYSTATION consoles but TOV (Tales of Vesperia) is on the xbox (an updated version of the game is on the ps3 but its only available in Japan if I remember correctly). Tales of Xillia is a good pick to start off too, its one of the newer ones. Some of the games are on the DS and have not been released to north america (Tales of Innocence and Tales of Hearts). The two tales have been remade into the PS VITA titled the same but with R at the end. At this moment, Tales of Hearts R has been localized and released in North America.

I honestly recommend playing the games instead of watching the anime(s)...or wait till you finish the games and then watch it. The games are much..much better imo. But, I recommend watching Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike (its a movie). You don't need to play the game to understand although (like I said before) you'll be missing little "treats". Still enjoyable.

Basically every game is a stand alone game. You don't need to understand or play all the other games to fully enjoy the newer ones. But, in the games, there are "events" where you are able to meet and or fight with older characters from the older games. It's a fun crossover to experience.

Overall, if you have a PS2, check out TOA or TOV but if you have a PS3, get out Tales of Xillia (and if you liked it, check out the sequel, TOX2). Have fun! Come PM me if you or anyone else have questions about the TALES SERIES.
