katsu curry chips 7,808 Posted January 21, 2019 Share Posted January 21, 2019 this is a really unpopular opinion and i don't expect most users here to understand what i mean but you will one day. there's such a thing as beauty of youth, in which our only appeal (regardless of whether you actually do possess the requisite features that are deemed attractive) is BEING YOUNG. we all have this and we all outgrow this, it's a sort of fleeting beauty that makes even the most ordinary looking person more attractive. nowhere is this more apparent than pop, since a lot of idols are introduced at such a young age, and their looks are hyped beyond belief only to (sometimes) one day reveal a pretty average looking (young) adult. and people act all baffled, but it's actually not hard for a 15-16 year old to be pretty or cute. ironic how teenagers are so unaware of this themselves. they talk about *glow-up* longingly and i wish i could shake you all and say listen, you'll never be more democratically good-looking than you are now, embrace it and love yourself bc youth gives you sooo much leeway whereas at my age, you actually have to TRY HARD. expensive beauty products, cosmetic procedures, dieting, working out, hydrating, sleep at least 8 hours, dress well, get your hair done etc... that's also why it triggers me when knetz compare idols with other idols HALF THEIR AGE. it's not a fair comparison. ofc a lot of young visuals will grow up and still be breathtaking - but the upper hand you have as a teenager who hasn't even started to gain your early twenties weight yet is not to be dismissed. 21 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Just bc a group debutes from a company you like doesn’t mean you’ll like the new group. But also just bc you don’t like the debut song doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t still be intrigued and see potential to be a fan of the group later on. katsu curry chips 7,808 Posted February 25, 2019 Share Posted February 25, 2019 It amuses me how users here have such STRONG opinions about BP - more than any other group I’ve seen actually - only bc to me they predictably fall comfortably in with the median expectation of talent, stage presence and hits we always expect and see from idols. Their infamy make them quite remarkable tbh, which isn’t to say they don’t deserve their success. They do, just as much as any of the other top groups. But what really will make them legendary to me, as a non fan, is the assiduous and feral hatred they inspire for simply living up to the expectations we’ve set for these kids at large. Whether it’s sexual competition, jealousy, inferiority complex, projection or bandwagon, they do seem to have some sort of charismatic pull.
