The Unpopular Opinions Thread (Read OP)

-If you aren't fan of certain hair styles, certain styles of piercings or tattoos in general, why force yourself(or guilt trip other fans) to like them even if someone in a group you stan has them(even for non kpop celebs)? Obviously you can't change anything about it. It would also be wrong to harass people over it on either side. I just don't think there's anything wrong with saying you aren't a fan of those things in reference to celebs you like.  We know that should treat idols, actors etc just like we would any other person outside the industry, but will trip over ourselves to support something we aren't a fan of, just because they're celebs? Its really not worth it. I also understand people are worried about being too negative in the current climate, which is understandable so idk. There needs to be a balance. You're allowed to have personal preferences like that, just like the people you stan. It doesn't mean you're automatically being hateful or an anti.

-On a similar note, I think certain Korean sites completely removing comments is no where close to solving the issues they have. I don't think its even putting a band-aid on their problems. It's not possible to remove everything from every site with an article, or set out to sue everybody with critical, rumors or negative comments. Or even having fans with big social media accounts creating narratives to control is not helping anything either. Something else has to be done.

-I think people get a little too obsessed with plastic surgery 'research', to the point where they start seeing it in people who haven't had any. Like instead of taking it as standard inane entertainment gossip, they go overboard. Sometimes becoming severely distraught or angry after being corrected about this person and that person not having any surgeries. I think at that point its better to just take a break from the topic.

-Regarding the Final Fantasy 7 remake, people are going overboard dog-piling on other fans with any tiny criticism people have with the demo recently. Even people who are basically repeating similar things as other fans have(like how the boss battle throws a lot at you even though the characters give you instructions it),  are being attacked. It's not that serious. It's turning people off from interacting with the fandom with the unnecessary gatekeeping. Just keep enjoying the demo and the game when it releases.

Simon Says really isn't that experimental and i think it's one of NCT's easier songs to listen to (i loved it and was able to vibe w it at first listen, and it was immediately catchy!)

it's got an interesting instrumental, but it still follows a traditional song structure

verse 1 > pre-chorus  > chorus and post-chorus  > verse 2 > same pre-chorus > chorus and post-chorus > bridge > final chorus and post-chorus

and there isn't any sudden key changes, and the instrumental in each section isn't that different from each other so it's not really that "disjointed" (minus the bridge)

ok, the bridge was really extra and very different from the rest of the song, but we've all been listening to kpop for a long time now so it's not that shocking anymore lmao

To clarify, this is directed at fans not the celebs themselves.

People need to stop showering celebs and rich people in general with praise for donating to charity. It's good but they're not special. They're rich, they have disposable income, they should feel obligated to donate to charity. People shouldn't praise the literal bare minimum.

I never had a problem with how people talk about toxic masculinity. My only real issue is how ridiculous and cartoony the name sounds. I mean, are we talking about a social issue or a comic book super villain?

And also when people act if it's impossible for women and femininity to be toxic or they're just absolutely appalled that someone would DARE to imply that women and femininity can be toxic too.

I actually think that's borderline disrespectful to the countless young women and even grown women who've gone as far as taking their own lives as a result of other women being toxic.

Even in a country as old fashioned as Korea, as we've seen most recently with Fiestar, alongside the evil disgusting men all up in our faces, there are plenty of women who are just as vile lurking in the shadows. Not to mention cases like Amber Heard in the west.

And of course, any Kpop fan, especially a boy group stan, will tell you the kind of fucked up shit young female fans are capable of. Don't get it twisted y'all.

But alas, no matter how many examples you give or even when actual women share their experiences of dealing with other women who are evil and toxic, people will just condescendingly laugh in your face, jump down your throat and find some roundabout way to blame it on men.

Over the years kpop has transitioned into a market where not many groups can survive without having more than one comeback within a year, which is perfectly fine. But a lot of comebacks nowadays seem like straight out filler content, like they're pushing a comeback just for the sake of it. There's no actual cohesiveness to their album and their concept just seems like some run of the mill, overdone concept. It doesn't really help when a lot of kpop fans justify hard work as a reason for success, and then complain when other groups have more success. You can push as many comebacks as you want, but none of them can be good.

Also it really irks me how a lot of stans over-accentuate an idol's movement and propel them as some lgbt icon. Really allows people to get away with doing the bare minimum towards actual lgbt rights lol.

I wish international fans would appreciate Wonyoung a bit more. Girl is so young yet she has really great control over her facial expressions already, good stage presence, and she's a pretty decent dancer. For me she's the best center IZ*ONE could have ever had.

And honestly, their company hasn't sexualized her in any way and has done a pretty good job in making sure the underage members don't wear any revealing clothes or perform inappropriate choreos.

Nct choreographys seem very difficult

And nct are easily one of the best dancers in kpop

But some of their choreo make them look like robots ,and not synchro

No Wonder Haechan has the most views on his fancams

He seems more fluid even if he isn t the best dancer

WHAT is still Dreamcatcher best title track

Also that's the title track that has the most rock element in it, yet most of their stans, who claimed they love them for their rock style, put WHAT as their least favorite title. The irony

I just want Bighit to cancel the whole tour at this point

Even the summer dates are just not gonna happen with the way Europe is going

I'd rather them just cancel it, release another album this year and start the tour early 2021, coming fresh off a new era.
