when you're in a really big fandom you're sort of in this impenetrable bubble and constantly confuse what matters to you and your mutuals with what matters to basically everyone else. being in a big fandom doesn't equal general relevance.

i wish i had gotten that 10 years ago tbh. sometimes it's nice being old and wizened.

Listen kids. Kpop doesn’t need the American entertainment industry - it’s the American entertainment industry that needs kpop. If you work with ad buying and conversion like I do it all makes sense.

Anyway. I’m back to not hash tagging, not watching on tv, not listening to radio, not live steaming and ad blocking and watching all of you who bragged about your media jobs in ‘09 get dust now. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

these days i enjoy stan twt way more than oh???

less unrelated stuff (cough western politics), less drama (if you know who and what to avoid) and more first hand news

i still love oh and after award season is over i'll be here more frequently again

I want to call myself an anti just bc they’re so childish and it amuses me how easily rattled they are but I’m tired

Um.

Regular English version isn’t unintelligible like at all. I can clearly hear the lyrics. And those lyrics aren’t much different from the average western hip hop lyrics take from that what you will.

Ok I don’t know for sure if this is an unpopular opinion but Universe is one of the best kpop albums to date even if it is a slow, ballad packed one.

maybe it's my age - i'm the same age as some of the exo members - but tempo really solidified me as a fan. the album is amazing and tho i was expecting something different from the title track, it really won me over at first listen. it's very exo, so it's not like they've changed. but it's exo for a new era, and i'm happy they appear to be maturing musically to match their older fans, but the sound still translates for younger, newer fans too. maybe we just caught up w each other or smt? bc for the first time since their debut it feels completely right to ult them. ♥︎

There’s nothing wrong or illogical with desiring to see progression in a group or artist’s output. In fact it’s natural. That progression doesn’t have to take on a stereotypical /adult/ theme, but there’s more to adult themes than stay ups and dark makeup fam. As there’s more to life. There’s anguish and letdowns and COLOUR - there’s VARIETY. That’s what makes the bright stuff so much brighter. There’s no need to hate a group that chooses to repeat a theme and simply change up the packaging but I wish the fans would understand why casual listeners move on and are entitled to do so. Let them be, accept that your favs don’t click with them specifically for whatever reason. We all look for something different at different stages in life. Especially from music. And that’s ok.

sometimes when nakko stands in profile and smiles i swear she reminds me of irene. people always say she looks like tzuyu but she doesn't at all to me anymore. but that crooked smile and eye twinkle is so dead on irene even tho they have no other similar features. 0u0plz.png

big fandoms deem smaller fandoms petty for complaining about award shows that without fail reward kakistocracy year in and year out, bc to them it's perfectly valid since "popularity = impact = popularity" right? until that award suddenly goes to a smaller group or an up and coming group that managed the impossible feat of a runaway smash hit and those big fandoms demand a government shutdown over it. i say this as someone who's part of big AND small fandoms, and grateful that i get to see both sides of the matter bc it's easy to get completely caught up in the associative arrogance of big groups.

soooooo many releases this year kinda blend together and are somewhat forgettable despite being good. the song that has really drilled itself into my brain after technically just one proper listen ages ago is LOONA's Hi High... that is one truly catchy ear worm of a song, in my unbiased opinion (since i don't stan them)

Definitely think I’m the only one who thinks this... but I kinda wish it would’ve been SNC at Kouhaku instead of, well anyone. Daoko and Perfume I get bc they’re so mainstream popular or have potential to be in Daoko’s case, but the whole thing gets less and less exciting every year and it would’ve actually been awesome if they could’ve kept the idols to a minimum and gone for a broader, more diverse j-music profile. Less super groups, more back number, mondo grosso, SNC, Perfume, Daoko, hoshino gen etc, along with enka singers obv.

HOME is quite cute and entertaining despite clearly being a watered down, more child-friendly, disney-fied rip-off of Adventure Time...

am i really THE ONLY PERSON WHO LOVED THE BED SQUEAKS IN DMUMT??????? i don't know about y'all but i just assumed they were added for effect and more importantly innuendo? tmi but 'don't mess up my tempo' is clearly a double entendre. imstupid.png they're all men in their upper twenties, and there's plenty of easter eggs throughout the lyrics and mv that references adult themes in a very sexy yet subtle way imo. i love it. every time i listen to it, which is at least twice a day, i smirk a little. for lack of less cheesy description, the song is groovy, it's sexy, just like exo. and the squeaks adds an almost old school ginuwine wibe. hurrplz.png

I don’t stan bp but bc I find them uninteresting I simply mind me own damn business and keep it moving. The obsessive hate boner OH has for them especially Jennie is so tiresome and way more *lazy* than she could ever be tbh. Oh and by the way I have no idea if she really is that crappy on stage you know why? Bc I genuinely don’t care hence have never bothered to watch more than a sec of a bp fancam. She could be MJ for all I know. Anyway if she’s really such a dud stop shading her in every unrelated thread.

dreamcatcher could've honestly debuted in japan with their jp discography and made insane bank. they're SUCH a great group, and their music is so superior. if korea doesn't realise that soon it's their loss.
